    Maybe not in your world. But it amazes me that a widow, who is all too familiar with the deepest evils of racism, would be so willing to equate the most mundane of today’s occurrences (by comparison) to the word “lynching.”

    If we are now willing to confuse satire and/or political disagreement with “lynching,” then can there also be “culinary lynching” if a black is served a meal he/or she disagrees with?     I continue to marvel at how some alumnae of the civil rights movement have continued to beat the historical drums of “lynching” and “racism” so inappropriately, and for so long now, that their drums have become hollow and almost meaningless.

    Now as to your links, they’re as partisan as they go and the one link about the tax rate is misleading and you know it. The study doesn’t factor in local, state and other taxes that all Americans have to pay.

    It’s interesting that liberals (oops, sorry, my bad, progressives) want everybody’s taxes raised so they can reap the reward. Nope, it’s all about society as a whole and not the individual and their right to MY income.

    Could you please cite anywhere in the Constitution or Bill of Rights how taxation is constitutional or even legal? Let’s exclude the ammendment since it was devised to create the Income Tax.

    Then you can explain to all of us how anything you link reveals any “lies” that Republicans tell. How ’bout the lies that liberals continue to perpetuate that all Republicans are wealthy, or the reverse live in trailor parks, or are war mongers, or aren’t college educated.

    For someone who belongs to a so-called “big-tent, we’re all a big, happy family” political party like the Dems, you seem to forget yourself. Talk about the liars identifying the lies!

    I wanted to mention what a shame that people like this woman keep bringing up “lynching” and in the same way, do a disservice to the black community.

    Many blacks paid for HER civil rights with their lives. Does she get that or are their deaths just so much more politically expedient for the joy of using that word like some self-fulfilling prophecy or something?

    Mr. Leahy said the cartoon involving Justice Brown was no less offensive than those that depicted him as anti-Catholic when he opposed the nomination of a Catholic candidate.

    I doubt that he’ll be saying the same thing about the Obama cartoon!

    That is debatable. Susan Estrich thinks that the poll numbers are very worrisome for Obama at this stage, especially with all the divine media coverage. Dukakis was leading by more in 1988:

    So here’s the bottom line. The polls make me nervous. Not desperate, not hopeless, not resigned, but nervous. Barack Obama should be ahead right now. Way ahead. Not even close is how it should look, even though I wouldn’t for a minute tell you that if it were that would seal the deal. But the fact that my old candidate Mike Dukakis was running better 20 years ago against George Bush than Obama is today against John McCain makes me nervous.

    I think Obamunists might be suicidal when their cult hero doesn’t win in November.
