Nutroots quote of the day
I’m on my way down to Austin, Texas for the RightOnline/Defend the American Dream summit (more info here). I’ll be speaking tomorrow. Across town, the nutroots are holding their own shindig–featuring the likes of Gen. Wesley Clark whining about the “right wing freak machine” and the anti-Fox mob heckling former Fox News contributor Harold Ford.
This brings me to the snort-worthy nutroots quote of the day, from one of the unreality-based bloggers attending the left-wing convention. Apparently, one of the sessions focused on “tone.” For those of you who are long-time readers, you’ll get a real kick out of the session description–and an even bigger kick out of the panelists, including ex-John Edwards blogger Amanda Marcotte:
One of the great debates of blogging is the general rudeness and shrillness acceptable within the discourse. Does profanity exempt you from being taken seriously? Are you necessarily “calmer” because you don’t drop a few four-letter words? I’m sure the foul mouthed, hateful Amanda Marcotte has no regrets using the words she used or expressing the hatred that apparently consumes her.
MM doesn’t use profanity explicitly (aside from calling on Obama to “grow a pair”), but the commenters do so constantly. And the things they say about liberals – oy!
I guess to the liberal mind facts are more hurtful than foul language, which is about all they have to offer. Keep up the good fight Michelle and have a safe journey.
The more I learn about and hear from this donkey-wipe, the less I can believe that he actually reached Four Star.

I’ve been following the Netroots Nation convention, a little…using the Jack & Jill Politics blog. Sounds like the usual hate-fest, with topics like “Send Karl Rove To Jail” and bashing the “Dark Sith” (Harold Ford). Blogger CPL, of Jack & Jill Politics, put it this way – “Smells like Bullshyt”. No surprise there…
The most profane instance that I can cite about Michelle was her posting Tennyson’s photoshop of Katie Couric flipping the bird earlier today.
Oh, and I can’t forget all those unhinged Mad Lib comments she reprints. Also, everyone was saying “god damn” a lot a few months ago.
Michelle’s words are worse because she knows how to debate without regularly resorting to profanity. Because she dares to disagree. Because she knows how to push people’s buttons. Because she knows it prompts the nutroots to take valued time from their lives to discuss how much they hate her. Perhaps worst of all, because so many of us concur with a lot of what she writes and says. Michelle is worse because she prompts more debate, which is proven to be a bad thing.

As long as you’re in Austin, it’s worth your time to drop by the Texas State History Museum and see the last note Colonel Travis sent from the Alamo. You also must go to the Oasis at sunset for a drink.
If you have an extra day, hop in a car and head ninety minutes southwest to the National Museum of the Pacific War in tiny Fredericksburg. It’s better than the Smithsonian. Don’t miss the living history demonstration of WWII firearms.
I take it you missed the Amanda Marcotte vents? Michelle was f-ing hilarious when she read Marcotte’s rants.

At one time I thought Fox was accountable for providing Harold Ford a token political platform but now I think Fox is just stupid and mostly irrelevant. Speaking at the Netroots Nation is just about Harold’s speed.
I think that is HILLARIOUS. I gotta hand it to you Ms. Malkin…you have really done a bang-up job of getting this “womyn” to completely and totally obsess about you. To actually use you in the description of her talk…and not just in the description, but to formulate the entire “discussion” completely around you is an amazing feat.
She is obviously still sitting around underneath her rock, mumbling and raving to herself about how you single-handedly cost her that blogging post for Silky. Why, I can hear her now, repeating over and over, “…and i could have got away with it too if it wasn’t for that meddling Malkin!”
See, this is just one more example out of millions of how Liberals can never be wrong, can never admit when they are wrong and it is always someone else’s fault for why they fail. It couldn’t possibly be that profanity is called “profane” for a reason, and that outside of their little Liberal circles, the VAST majority of Americans truly find that sort of discourse offensive and thus, do not take the writer seriously, nor do they consider the author to be mature and educated when they resort to such things.
Why, just take a look at the comments on the usual Liberal sites…as well as those of the resident trolls here, and anyone will be able to say that their comments and “arguments” are brought down to the point of ridicule and treated as irrelevant for no other reason than the way they state them, laced heavily with sophomoric insults and profanity.
But hey…it doesn’t matter. They can be as offensive, insulting and profane as they want, because after all…you facts and non-profanity laced way of posting articles will ALWAYS be worse.
Congratulations Michelle. To be despised by the Nootroots is to be respected by everyone else.

I think profanity has its place in political discussion. There’s the risk that using it will make people take you less seriously, but it’s a great way of getting someone’s attention.
Marcotte isn’t exactly super popular on the left either. Her book used racist images and, thankfully, many feminists called her on it.
Using four-letter words doesn’t mean you’re calmer, but it certainly means you have less class.
Michelle worse than Amanda Marcotte? Amanda Marcotte? Pulease! That foul mouthed, stranger-to-logic-and-truth ditz is the absolute infimum of the blogosphere’s worst.

Can you say that with a straight face after seeing the amazing level of hate on most of these liberal sites?
Michelle is hated by them because she pointedly and factually scrapes through the thin veneer of rationality and tolerance (you usually hit it when you ask them to do things like justify their adulation of Obama or what “change” means) revealing the psychotic hate filled beast that exists within.
That is why lgm rarely does more than deposit one of his droppings and then flees back to the nurturing womb of his mother’s basement. And when he does come back, well, it is like a double dose of bird droppings: just smellier and even less appealing.
More basically: the truth hurts, and Michelle hits them upside the head with it. It infuriates them, so, like the Swiftboat Vets, they have to tear down what Michelle does with lies and misstatements.
Their hatred is a badge of honor, Michelle. Revel in it!
Try this simple test to see whether a pundit exhibits “rudeness and shrillness acceptable within the discourse”. I call it the “airport test”. Remember the A&E real-life show of problems people encounter in airports? Missed flights, missed luggage, problem passengers. Often a problem passenger was not allowed to get on the airplane. They were unreasonable, or cursed, or were loud, and were generally unpredictable to the point of being scary, with the possibility of physical violence. There was no clear-cut criteria for denying someone passage on the plane for that day, but you knew it when you saw it.
Ask yourself, would I feel comfortable allowing this pundit to fly on a plane, given his/her presentation and state of mind. In the case of Michelle, no doubt, yes, always, 100% of the time. Chris Matthews, often, no. Many left-wing bloggers and pundits, often, no. Let’s not be disingenuous. Let’s be honest! We know unhingeness when we see it. Michelle isn’t even close. Anyone saying otherwise is either blind to basic social cues or is very dishonest. And I don’t think she’s rude or shrill.
Michelle, I may disagree with you from time to time but on most subjects you are so right on! I think you pricked the self-important bubble that used to surround Amanda Marcotte.
Yeah, lgm, those nutroots are a classy bunch of people. The way the diarists reacted at the DailyKos regarding Tony Snow’s death was quite revealing of their contempt toward humanity and Tony Snow in particular. Yeah, the tolerance of the left…. if that’s not an oxymoron I don’t know what is.
I really hate thinking that. For the Republic to be healthy we need to air different points of view to find the best solutions for the challenges we face.
But as much as I hate to think liberalism is synonomous with insanity, it’s getting neigh impossible to avoid that conclusion.
