Welcome to your Monday morning blood-boiler. The NY Post reports that a jihadi group in NYC planning on running a series of subway ads is led by a Muslim imam tied to the terror plot to bomb the city’s landmarks.

An Islamic group plans to blitz 1,000 subway cars with advertisements this September in a campaign being promoted by a Brooklyn imam whom federal officials have linked to a plot to blow up city landmarks.
The group says its mission is to explain the true nature of Islam to non-Muslims who believe the religion is bent on acts of violence – but Siraj Wahhaj, the inflammatory imam who appears in a promotional YouTube video for the project, has defended convicted bomb-plotters and called the FBI and CIA the “real terrorists.”
US Attorney Mary Jo White even named Wahhaj one of 170 unindicted co-conspirators in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the thwarted plan to blow up a slew of buildings.
“In time, this so-called democracy will crumble, and there will be nothing, and the only thing that will remain will be Islam,” Wahhaj said in one of his sermons.
The stark, black-and-white ads of the Subway Project promote Islam with the goals of clearing up long-held misconceptions about the faith and reaching out to those interested in becoming Muslim, according to the Islamic Circle of North America, the group behind the campaign.
Timed to run during the month of Ramadan, the ads come in pairs, reading “Q: Prophet Muhammad?” or “Q: Islam?” and the corresponding answer is always “A: You deserve to know.”
Those interested in knowing more are directed to call (877) WHY-ISLAM or to visit whyislam.org, which provide literature that teaches and proselytizes about the faith.
The group insists it is not looking to transform subway cars into the “G-had train.”
“Anyone who looks at this ad objectively can see that it is not preaching anything,” Azeem Khan, the group’s assistant secretary general, told The Post. “There is a lot of Islamaphobia out there. We provide people with a chance to speak with an actual Muslim who is informed.”
Wahhaj, imam of Al-Taqwa mosque, is a former member of the Nation of Islam and was the first Muslim to give an invocation at the House of Representatives.
Formal charges were never filed against him by White, although he did serve as a character witness for the defense in the trial of Omar Abdel-Rahman, “the blind sheik” who is now serving a life sentence for his role in plotting the 1993 WTC bombings.

In June 1991, Siraj Wahaj, a black convert to Islam and the recipient of some of the American Muslim community’s highest honors, had the privilege of becoming the first Muslim to deliver the daily prayer in the U.S. House of Representatives. On that occasion he recited from the Qur’an and appealed to the Almighty to guide American leaders “and grant them righteousness and wisdom.”
A little over a year later, addressing an audience of New Jersey Muslims, the same Wahaj articulated a rather different vision from his mild and moderate invocation in the House. If only Muslims were more clever politically, he told his New Jersey listeners, they could take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a caliphate. “If we were united and strong, we’d elect our own emir [leader] and give allegiance to him. . . . [T]ake my word, if 6-8 million Muslims unite in America, the country will come to us.” In 1995, Wahaj served as a character witness for Omar Abdel Rahman in the trial that found that blind sheikh guilty of conspiracy to overthrow the government of the United States. More alarming still, the U.S. attorney for New York listed Wahaj as one of the “unindicted persons who may be alleged as co-conspirators” in the sheikh’s case.
The disparity between Wahaj’s good citizenship in the House and his militant forecast of a Muslim takeover—not to mention his association with violent felons—is only one example of a larger pattern common to the American Muslim scene.

In an ideal world, that’d be great. But – as someone else said – look at Mark Steyn. He reported *fact* about Islam and was hauled before a laughable Human Rights Commission for hate crimes.
Any attempt to counter these ads with fact-based reporting on Islam (which does allow a Muslim to lie to infidels to further the cause of jihad) will be classified as “hate”. End of discussion.

on each of these ads.
I was in Kansas City visiting my parents last month. We were at the Farmers’ Market, a big area in downtown with shops and restaurants and a big weekend market, and there was a Middle Eastern apparent imam with a “Why Islam?” t-shirt. He had three boys with him with same t-shirts. It was a beautiful, sunny day outside, and it is funny how Muslims can send a dark shadow just by their appearance.
These people want to destroy America, and they should not even be allowed to immigrate here. It is not a religion; it is a political-terrorism organization, like the IRA, with elements of heretical Judaism and Christianity thrown in. No Muslims should be allowed to immigrate here. They only pretend to be Americans.
Obama is moving us one step from shiria law.

I respectfully disagree Gabe. America is not a lost cause by any means. Citizens like Michelle and Debbie Schlussel and many others who have the Malkins to expose this murderous, misogynistic, racist culture in our midst are having good success in getting the word out to the rest of us. I see them as the Paul Revere’s of our times. Remember “One if by land, two if by sea…”? The problem now is way worse, as they are coming by land, sea, air, both legally and illegally, and they are infiltrating the core of our institutions. Without the watchful eyes of ballsy American citizens mentioned above, I would have no idea what is happening in Dearbornistan and Hamtramckstan and the many other places this is happening. I was blissfully ignorant until 9/11, and then everything changed for me, and I thank the Malkins and the Schlussel’s and Hot Air/LGF/Spencer/Steyn…etc for working to connect the dots.
These Muslims who are pretending to assimilate into America are being called out and exposed for what they are, and I still believe the heartland of America will not stand for it. When President Obama begins appointing his “friends” to judgeships and positions of power, we may have a harder time putting down the call for Americastan, but in the end, I still believe we will prevail.

And how does one wash the left hand without contaminating the right hand or as Kathy Griffin discovered in Afghanistan eating pork is not allowed but washing a bare handed butt wipe is not mandatory. Well, I live in NYC. Let me see one of those ads, and I’ll rip them up. I’ll be traveling with my little box cutter from now on and if I can’t rip the signs off, I’ll cut them up. They won’t be advertising in MY City. Not if I can help it. I never take the taxi, I always take the subway, when I’m not walking.
I promise to all my fellow patriots and patriettes, I will not allow these signs to remain hung in MY presence. It simply will not happen. And I’m in good with some NYPD, so if I do get in trouble, it’ll be a mild ticket. I’ll pay the fee to not have to look at their ads, nor expose anyone else to them.

When that happened, we organized and had almost 150 random NYCers standing in the POURING rain to defend the recruiters, NYC and NYPD. We don’t tolerate insulting NYC, nor do we tolerate any thing painting Islam in some fairly tale light.
Believe me- all NYCers even navigate differently now, because there aren’t any towers to tell us which direction we’re facing. There’s still a hole in the ground, down there. It’s QUIET down there.
So, no. We won’t be welcoming this whether due to Stockholm Syndrome or any other. The only ones accepting are the moonbats. (but they mostly hang in the Village, anyway.)

Then the audience for this campaign exists not on public transportation, but within Wahhaj’s own congregation, and congregations like his.
The language of the suicide bomb, hijacked aircraft destroying capitalist superstructures, SUV’s driven into pedestrian areas, trains/buses exploding and when malls/classrooms/jewish centers become shooting ranges – all in the name of allah – it is not the daily commuter with misconceptions Wahhaj needs be concerned about.
First things first, Wahhaj has to effectively confront the misconceptions of his own followers and belief system.
We do not have a war on terror. I don’t know what the fat we’re doing in Iraq and Afghanistan, but if our wretched government and our wretched society were serious about fighting terror, terrorists would not be allowed to recruit on American soil. Period.
A war on terror that is not a war on Islam will nothing but leave American citizens vulnerable. Couple our nation’s submission to Islam with our Muslim President-to-be Barry Dunham and we’ve got real reason to fear the future.
Thank goodness our Muslim enemies are so fanatically stupid. It’s hard to think of anything more likely to provoke a negative response than to place ads on the New York City subway saying Islam is misunderstood, that it’s really a religion of peace. I can imagine the reaction of subway riders boarding the train across the street from the hole where the World Trade Center stood.
Let’s give those ads a week of play on the subway and see what they look like. My guess is that all those WHY ISLAM will be magic markered to say F*** ISLAM. I have no doubt that the good people of NYC will have lots of suggestions as to what Mohammed was all about. Or maybe some kids will just post a photo of their father on the ads with the inscription, “ISLAM KILLED MY DAD.”
Why not go out and get TWO today–a carbine or home defense shotgun and a handgun. Bad guys won’t wait for your anniversary, and when it comes you’ll have three!
