John Holliday (#40)--I have a problem with that, as it is too hard to properly define government assistance.

However, on a vaguely related issue--pandering politicians--I would like to see a Constitutional amendment that no sitting member of Congress can run for President.

How about this?

If you get any assistance from the government, for even just one day, before any election, you cannot vote in that upcoming election.

Of course, it would never happen because, to get re-elected, the power-mad socialists have to spew their class warfare hate speech to the "poor" people. You know, the one's that own 60" TVs.

Interesting article. "[S]ome members of the delegation [including Pelosi an Hoyer], which will likely include only Democrats, began touring the region Saturday." They will more than likely use what they see to slam Bush at the DNC about federal disaster response, including the response to the Midwest floods.

This delegation's motive sounds political. Is Denny K among them? How much fossil fuel was burned to transport the 30-person delegation? At least a couple of 60" tv's-worth.

The family was recently notified by FEMA that it would have to leave the trailer...

Don't worry, I'll keep working hard to provide for my family, along with the lazy, the stupid, and the greedy...
Sharon Jasper's statement that she will "not be treated like a slave" says it all. Whether she realizes it or not, she is a slave by her own doing by relying on welfare for 57 of 58 years of her life. By allowing the state to control her livelihood rather than taking charge of her own life, she is a slave to the master called Government. But alas, a presumed hero of hers is there now, promoting this attitude of self-enslavement and entitlement. It's pretty sad when people like Jasper are one's political base. But then again, how much more loyal is one whose entire livelihood is controlled by a politician? I just wish these folks would have more self-respect and dignity to know they can do better.

I am so tired of New Orleans. You would think it's the only place that has had a disaster in the past decade. Politics has played it so much, and used the people to promote politicians' welfare (and still do)so much, that it has become a sham. Between the trailers, debit cards, etc., no wonder people sit on their butts with their hand out, and smile for the MSM cameras. Elsewhere, people get off of their rear ends, pick up the pieces, help each other, and get working to rebuild. No FEMA trailers, no debit cards, no parade of MSM commentators, no politicians making speeches blaming Bush...just rebuilding. I know Iowans. I have relatives/friends who are Iowans. Great bunch of people! New Orleans can't hold a candle to them. As far as New Orleans goes, I never saw a more corrupt city, filled with so many losers/whiners demand so much from the American taxpayer. I saw a show recently about a "hurricane" storm that hit Oregon. I didn't see people standing around demanding debit cards and trailers, and blaming Bush. I saw people committed to helping each other, rebuilding, and, especially, getting back to work. Score "one" for Oregon. I'm talking "winners", not "losers". Not a sermon, just a thought.

a large family in St. Bernard Parish living in a FEMA trailer containing a single twin bed, with a bathroom that would cramp just one adult trying to bathe.

"Haven't these people heard of 'liar' loans?" she asked.

Wonder if she’ll stop by 60-inch-tv-owning New Orleans “slum”-dweller Sharon Jasper’s place.
What? Are you kidding me? Who do you think invited her?

you know...there is nothing funnier to me politically, than when one of these elected officials who are in charge of handling issues such as this, stands out there in public and complains about how nothing is getting done.

Gee...what has SHE been doing about these alleged issues in New Orleans?

She should be right at home there, and there should not be a doubt in her mind as to why they are still looking like a bunch of lemurs attempting to procreate with a football...

The delays are all do to the same thing that got them in trouble in the first place: Corrupt Politicians.

being as she is one, you would think she would know her own.

The murders in San Francisco, homosexual 'marriage', and now greedy grasping people whining because the public trough isn't deep enough for the pigs.
