Cliff Notes version of Obama press conference in Jordan

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 22, 2008 11:10 AM

1. “Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.”

2. As commander-in-chief, er, rather, when I’m commander-in-chief…

3. The surge I opposed is working.

4. The architect of the surge, Gen. David Petraeus, is going to waste money on electricity projects, so I must be there to stop him.

5. “Ummmmmm.”

6. Now, stop asking me questions and take pictures.

And 7. “Israel is a strong friend of Israel.” (I missed this one, but commenter Jim M. and other readers report that Obama actually said this. Gaffe-tastic!)

The Tour de Farce continues…

Bush and McCain may not realize it, but we have a new president.

Derel, how much are you getting paid by Obama’s campaign? What I was struck with is the complete lack of enthusiasm by most troops. If fact, you didn’t even see them in pictures. I saw a lot of blacks, who normally vote Democratic, but where were the whites, Latinos, and Asians?

I grew up in the military and know that almost everyone there is conservative. They are scared to death of an Obama presidency, except for a few blacks in the military.

You sound like Obama is already your president. But wishing isn’t going to make reality. Obama and McCain are tied in the polls right now. Dukakis was doing far better at this time.

Sorry to burst your bubble there … but take notice when you see the video that virtually all of the soldiers meeting with Obama are black … and they are wearing unit patches from multiple units that would indicate they were brought in because they wanted to meet Obama … that many different military units are not represented in any one place in a combat zone …

also … we have nothing but his people’s statements on anything as they didn’t allow the reporters to accompany him or give a news briefing for questions afterward or anything … the pictures were all taken by military photographers … just like kicking the 2 muslim women out of the picture at one of his rallys they hand selected the troops that he met with …

    Well if you say so…

derel3433, it is summer; drink plenty of fluids and keep out of the sun; you are hallucinating. But that is what Democrats do, don’t they? Maybe they will let Bro Berry drive a tank. It worked for Dukakis.
But tell us dear derel3433, feel a tingle down your leg? An ache in the groin, heart, whatever?

Coming off the 1980 Democratic Convention Bro Jimmie had a 20+ point lead over Ronald Reagan. It did not last. No, they could not steal enough votes in Chicago to make it happen.

But if Bro Berry does make it all you good Liberals can hold hands and sing

One thing Obama has to do on the Iraq issue is admit the succuss of the surge in many respects. The successes of the surge are the reason for the 2010 withdrawal date talk.
However, Obama still has scoreboard on Iraq, because we never should have gone in there to begin with. The reasons for the invasion proved to be forgesi, and just because less soldiers are dying now doesn’t mean that any needed to die there to begin with. Nor did we need do blow the 100s of billions of dollars on the war over there when Afghanistan is looking uglier, and our econony is struggling. Obama needs to make these arguments in an artful way, but he must admit surge success.

Let’s say Bush decides to invade Mexico to expand our territory. It would be misguided, sick and wrong, but there is still a right way and a wrong way to achieve military victory. The surge was the “right” way over Rumsfeld’s stupidity, but that doesn’t make the initial invasion any less misguided. It also doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t give a country its control back as soon as possible, while cleaning up our mess.

Bush Admits Iraq Had No Weapons of Mass Destruction, No Link to 9/11
    Monday August 21, 2006
The following transcript snippet is taken from this morning’s presidential news conference. This exchange took place near the end of President George W. Bush’s remarks and responses.

In this excerpt, the President flatly refutes the two reasons he and his administration used to goad Congress and frighten the American public into the US invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

This is the first time the President or Vice President have publicly admitted that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction, and was not connected to the 9/11 attacks.

“BUSH: Now, look, I — part of the reason we went into Iraq was — the main reason we went into Iraq at the time was we thought he had weapons of mass destruction. It turns out he didn’t, but he had the capacity to make weapons of mass destruction…

It just doesn’t hold water as far as I’m concerned. The terrorists attacked us and killed 3,000 of our citizens before we started the freedom agenda in the Middle East. They were –

QUESTION: What did Iraq have to do with that?

BUSH: What did Iraq have to do with what?

QUESTION: The attack on the World Trade Center.

BUSH: Nothing, except for it’s part of — and nobody’s ever suggested in this administration that Saddam Hussein ordered the attack. Iraq was a — Iraq — the lesson of September the 11th is take threats before they fully materialize, Ken.

It does not make going into Iraq valid.

I can think of one big eared democrat that was running for the state senate who didn’t buy it. Maybe things would have been different had he been in Congress, but he has the moral high ground now. The few people who voted against the war were correct. I don’t care what the intelligence said. Sanction, sanctions, sanctions, and investigate further. According to Clarke, Bush was looking to invade Iraq immediately after 9/11. A lot of those dems got caught up in the post 9/11 vengeance. Many have apologized and regret their votes. Bill Clinton was a hawk, and you won’t see me defend his foreign policies.

I don’t think conservative support for McCain is as strong as it was for Bush, but McCain is running against the most liberal senator out there.
That is also prbably why the moderate Democrats are shying away from the VP slot. Despite Obamania, having someone so far left on the top of ticket could affect the “Blue Dog” Democrats, as well as the seats taken in 2006 from Republicans.
