Gang-linked San Fran sanctuary case charged with murder of a father and two sons (UPDATE: Video interview with widow added)
These stories of preventable violence by illegal aliens are increasingly horrifying, and yet I suspect many of us have almost grown numb to them. But the San Francisco Chronicle’s Jaxon Van Derbeken, who has done a great job uncovering San Fran’s illegal-alien-crack dealer shuttle service, has now linked one of the sanctuary policy’s underage wards to a particularly heinous crime:
The man charged with killing a father and two sons on a San Francisco street last month was one of the youths who benefited from the city’s long-standing practice of shielding illegal immigrant juveniles who committed felonies from possible deportation, The Chronicle has learned.
Edwin Ramos, now 21, is being held on three counts of murder in the June 22 deaths of Tony Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16. They were shot near their home in the Excelsior district when Tony Bologna, driving home from a family picnic, briefly blocked the gunman’s car from completing a left turn down a narrow street, police say.
Ramos, a native of El Salvador whom prosecutors say is a member of a violent street gang, was found guilty of two felonies as a juvenile – a gang-related assault on a Muni passenger and the attempted robbery of a pregnant woman – according to authorities familiar with his background.
This is what the feel-good Sanctimony City policies bring upon their law-abiding citizens–and on the rest of the country. San Francisco had two opportunities to deport a violent felon with (if you’ll read a little further in the article) ties to the MS-13 gang, and they didn’t do it. They can’t even plead incompetence–the sanctuary policy worked exactly as it was intended.
The City of San Francisco wanted to keep criminal illegal alien juveniles like Edwin Ramos in San Francisco–or, at least, somewhere inside the United States. They were willing to frustrate a federal law to do so. And a devastating, preventable triple murder occurred because of their policy.
I hope that warm, fuzzy, liberal feeling of sanctuary sanctimony was worth it to them.
P.S. Looks like ICE screwed this one up as well: when they finally did get the suspect’s name in March, after a query from the SF’s sheriff’s department on a traffic stop and a gun charge, ICE didn’t report back that he was “deportable”.
P.P.S. I am so glad I left California–although I seem to be in a sanctuary area nonetheless. Hey Gerry Connolly, is this the policy you want to run on for Congress?

Bush, Obama, McCain, and most of Congress are totally corrupt on illegal immigration, and without any shame. I see no hope there.
Isn’t there some way to get the subject of illegal immigration into the courts? Perhaps there remains some integrity in the Supreme Court at least.
Well, not us. The people who vote for these stupid politicians don’t care. Vote them out, early and often.
Can the family (if there is any family left alive) sue the state for this? Clearly it is their negligence and intentional ignorance of federal law that permitted this criminal to remain in the US. And what will happen now? The guy will get off ofter a couple of years or deported because he’s not a legal citizen, and he’ll be back on the streets a month later. Wait until one of these bastards murders a politician or their family, THEN you’ll see some reaction. Until it affects them personally, these arrogant idiots in government won’t do a damn thing. Maybe we should deport the politicians.

It is not that we have grown numb…it is that the media refuses to report these crimes. Well, that is not entirely true…they report them, they just seem to continually omit the fact that they are committed by ILLEGAL immigrants. Instead, they will just put down that the perp was a youth, or “possibly gang related”. Should the topic of the guilty party’s residency status come up, they will again conviniently leave out the “ILLEGAL” portion of it.
They have already succeeded in turning this into a call of racism by continually omitting the ILLEGAL status and turning all of us that support the deportation of anyone coming into this country without the proper proceedures into pseudo-racists, making all of us appear to be against anyone immigrating here, but then make it into where we are allegedly anti-Mexican regardless of the fact that we could care less what country the ILLEGALS came from.
This same tactic is used concerning Muslims who are wanted for or guilty of crimes…namely murders. They refuse to state that the person practices Islam, even though the name of the person could hardly be anything else. Should it be obvious that it is of a Jihadi nature, they will go so far as to completely omit the name all together. Should any of us point out the fact that the guilty party is a practicer of “The Religion Of Peace”, they begin the “Racist, Islamophobic” rhettoric immidiately, hoping to squelch any and all chance of having the truth of what took place.
It is truly difficult to believe that any staff member of the Chronicle is actually on the side of truth and justice, and could actually be exposing the true nature of the crimes and those that commit them…but thank God there is at least one there that will.
With any luck, some of his collegues will be swayed by his actions, and the truth about the epidemic number of violent and drug related crimes that are committed on a daily basis by people that are not supposed to be here in the first place, let alone have been assisted in committing their crimes by the very people and governments that are sworn and dictated by law to protect us from them, ceasing this almost conspiritorial plague of silence and covering up being done by news outlets all across this country.
Only when the lights are finally turned on will the blind idiots of the Left finally lose their arguments concerning the non-deprtation of all ILLEGAL immigrants here in this country.

Those city employees and Government officials that let the perpetrator go the first two times should be charged with three counts a piece of Accessory to Murder (First Degree). They are are a guilty as this coward is in the deaths of those three men.
It’s time to start holding Government, and the agents that comprise that Government, accountable for their actions. And if you can not, it’s time to think about what the Founding Fathers said about this, and what they did to fix their situation.
There has to be a lawyer who would take this pro-bono, because, until someone stands up to the city of San Francisco, and make them accountable for their actions, then horrors like this will continue.

I’m waiting for the day someone finally sues the city, the mayor, the police chief and the city attorney for this crap. Sue them PERSONALLY, as well as city-wise, and hold them accountable for the crime of “aiding and abetting a felony”, which they did.
This tragic story just goes to show that immigration reform is a national security issue. How many illegal immigrants participate in gang activity, violent crime and other illegal actions that impact our quality of life.
My take on this is that we propose a zero tolerance policy for sanctuary cities which involves the freezing of all funding for non-critical (health care, police/fire, etc) services.

I just watched Danielle Bologna the wife and mother of the victims, on Fox, this women needs our prayers she lost her whole family, in a twist of fate that should have never happened, a gaping wound in her heart that cam never be filled. The public officials of SF and ICE are responsible for this tragedy and should be held accountable for this, as far as I’m concerned they are accessories to murder.
This is so sad. As long as there is more compasion for illegals by the open-border wackos than for the victims, these crimes will continue. Nothing will change until the body count gets high enough to cause public outrage.

I work for the city of SF. Not only is Newsom not backing down, he is still insisting that the feds had an “understanding” with the city over illegal criminals. The feds deny all of it. Worse, Newsom still insists that the city’s “sanctuary” policy be posted on all city websites, all department websites, and he insists that all city employees acknowledge the policy on threat of termination. Ever since the lefty invasion of this city during the 90s, the city has degenerated into third world status as the middle class fled and the city was overrun with illegals. The black community here is awash is violence, gangs, and drugs, and no one will dare criticize blacks for their failed families and their feral children. The “hipster” crowd votes far left, and they have run the show here for the last 15 years. The result is the destruction of a once-beautiful city and its decline into irrelevance.
These illegals don’t know how lucky they are that People haven’t yet reached the anger to arm themselves and go after these monsters themselves. The government doesn’t protect us, it’s getting to the point that we will have to do something ourselves.

I also saw the interview with Danielle Bologna this morning on FoxNews and while the story was infuriating to hear the first time, it was doubly infuriating after hearing Mrs. Bologna’s anguished words. If I were her, I would sue the city government and ICE to make this an example to anyone harmed due to sanctuary city policies. Then I would haunt that POS Newsom the rest of his life. I would be like a tick on his a$$, disrupting everything and anything he does. I wouldn’t stop until they put him in the loony bin. He is the epitomy of the arrogant, I-know-what’s-best mentality that I despise the most about liberals.

I was making a comment like others do sometimes the only way for the woman to really get any kind of justice is to put this POS out of others misery. But, I certainly don’t advocate vigilante justice unfortunately it only gives brief relief and disrupts the justice system.

Hence, when the call from the SFPD came in he was not ‘guilty’ of anything they were aware of. Now just why the SFPD did NOT report him to ICE after the weapons charges were filed is, well, just another reason to sue the city!
And regardless of the final outcome, I do hope that the remaing family members do sue the City of SF, as well as all co-conspirators in this crime, in a federal court for any and all damages!

I don’t regularly support lawsuits. Most of the time, it’s a way to legally extort money. But, in this case, I agree. She should sue. She should also find a law firm that won’t collect most of the damages and leave her with the scraps. Illegals and the gangs are ruling the streets; the liberals smile and applaud. However, I am still bothered by the seemingly indisputable fact that we are “preaching to the choir”, “stroking each other’s backs”, “peeing against the wind”, etc. The question is: how do we become proactive on this issue. Force the MSM to report and acknowledge what is happening and think of ways to get to a much wider audience. Some of the brain washed left wingers will never really understand, but I think there are myriad Americans out there who never read beyond the headlines and are exposed mainly to the MSM’s crappola, who might be able to make informed decisions contrary to what they have been spoon fed. I think we are having too much fun rubbing up against each other and not thinking about how to make a difference. I am not a professional activist nor a natural leader, but I sure as hell am ready to throw in with anyone who has some good ideas and the charisma to make people listen. Too bad we don’t have an Obamaesque person on our side.

I hadn’t seen that wise_man thanks for posting it. What we have here is the establishment with the help of democrats picking our candidate. Dems crossed over in the beginning and pushed McCain over the top because and only because they believed Clinton could easily beat McCain. Do we really want to reward them for it by giving it to BHO? Shouldn’t we say, ok we learned a really valuable lesson and apply it now and in the future? That crossing over was what led to operation chaos which we are getting away from if we hand the election to them. The real fireworks will come after the election if the dems lose. Don’t forget, Jimma Carter should have ruined the dems for decades except that Bush/Perot/Clinton 92 allowed them to creep back in and years later look what we have going on. You know I agree with Mr. Gingrich, I just don’t see any other way.
