Remember what Barack Obama said about keeping his daughters out of the media eye?
Never mind.
Fresh off their Access Hollywood exploitation, Barack Obama had them sit down for a People magazine spread. (Hat tip: JWF)
The rules in the Obama household for Malia and Sasha are clear-cut:
_”No whining, arguing or annoying teasing,” their mother, Michelle Obama, told People Magazine.
_Make the bed. “Doesn’t have to look good, just throw the sheet over it,” said the mother of 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha.
_Set your own alarm clock. “They get themselves up, get their own clothes,” said their grandmother Marian Robinson.
_And the allowance from Dad for doing chores is $1 a week. Barack Obama conceded that “I’m out of town for weeks at a time, so Malia will say, ‘Hey you owe me for 10 weeks.’”…
…The Obamas rarely allow their daughters to be interviewed. After the television show “Access Hollywood” aired a report on the Obama children earlier this month, their father expressed regret for having agreed to it. “I don’t think it’s healthy and it’s something that we’ll be avoiding in the future,” he later said.

Comparing Cindy to Paris who is perhaps the worst example that America has to offer in terms of women shows exactly what libs are all about. They think all women are noting more than Paris Hilton’s and that goes a long way to explaining why they cheat on their wives, get caught with their pants down so to speak in roadside rest stop restrooms.
I thought Kerry preferred the Russian prison guard type? No offense to non Russian prison guard types.

Paris, who gets surprisingly little from her trust fund and is not involved in the hotel business, makes money via sex tapes, paid nightclub appearances, and endorsing cheap blonde weaves that can be bought at the dollar store.
Cindy, who holds a college degree and is a former teacher as well as beauty pageant winner, took over her father’s business and made it even more successful. She managed this while being married to a high-profile politician, raising 4 children, and performing hands-on humanitarian work in Vietnam, Rwanda, and elsewhere.

My kids are long grown and gone so I do not know what the current going allowance is but I do believe there is value in establishing the principle of reward for labor and saving.
Fifty years ago, my five year old daughter wanted a doll which cost a couple of dollars. We gave her a 25 cent/week allowance for emptying the cat box or something. By the time she saved the money for the doll, her wants had evolved and she chose to keep the money and add to it until her want-of- the-moment and cash intersected.
Same daughter, five years later: we built a house in a new development where all the houses had wooden shingle roofs. The shingle bundles were held together by 1″x2″ x18″ cedar lath and metal straps. I had a project requiring a couple hundred of these lath. I offered her 10 cents per lath for all she could gather ffrom building sites in the neighborhood. She hired neighborhood kid to collect lath for five cents each and delivered red wagon load after red wagon load of lath to our back yard, well over a thousand lath. The surplus lath made excellent fireplace starter that winter.
Today that little entrepreneur is a very successful attorney and my only rich relative.

I have a problem with Rob’s and John Ansell’s comments.
The problem is culture, not race. Organizations like the KKK are racist and bigoted; had they focused on culture, their position would be more acceptable.
I have no problems with immigrants. My mother is an immigrant. However, she diligently applied herself to learn English, learn American history, and adapt to her host country’s traditions and values. This was a time before the PC, Multikulti rot set in. Hell, my mother is a more patriotic American than lgm or Rusty is.
The current problem is a lack of civilizational confidence, coupled with the moral relativity of multiculturalism. We are not demanding that the immigrant become an American. Instead, we coddle and poison them with unAmerican and anti-American propaganda. We do not demand that they speak English, or abide by our laws and customs.
What you fellows are missing is that being an American is not about skin color or ethnicity, as it is with Europeans or Asians or Africans. It’s about a way of thinking and believing, as the Founding Fathers declared on July 4, 1776.
America is the only nation founded on a creed. Hence, anyone can be an American, as it is not limited to race or religion.
Your thinking that the KKK is legitimate only hurts our cause in that it provides ammo to the libtards.
Tread carefully, and don’t let reactionism guide your thoughts and beliefs.

I feel very blessed to be able to experience two sides to America. On the one hand, I’m the daughter of an immigrant, so I have first hand experience of the “immigrant story” that so many Americans share.

FYI Scooter- I have male secretaries too. They’re actually called,”Administrative Assistants” here in the Corporate World.
Their job is actually something valued at my company. We recieve 80,000 + faxes a day, and over 40,000 phone calls a day. (That’s just from 8am-8pm EST). We would be swimming with sharks without our Admins! Maybe you should think about that before you take someone for granted.
Something that liberals never learn: It takes hard work to get your feet off the ground. You have to start somewhere. One of my secretaries this year- could be promoted to become my boss next year. You never know.
