Obama’s latest campaign prop: Jerusalem’s Western Wall; Update: Protests/heckling mar photo-op

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 23, 2008 09:57 PM

Update: 12:24am. Obama is heckled at the Western Wall. Photo-op ruined. But will the slavering American media report it? The Times of London has the story: “The US presidential nominee was heckled as he visited the Western Wall in the early hours of Thursday morning, bowing his head in prayer and observing traditional custom by placing a folded piece of paper into the crevice of the wall. Orthodox men interrupted their morning prayers to catch a glimpse of the Illinois senator, reaching out to shake his hand as he passed them by. But not all were taken by the Democrat. One yelled out: ‘Obama, Jerusalem is not for sale!’ before Mr Obama was whisked away to his waiting plane.”

***

John McCain exploited the imagery of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Mexico earlier this month. That crass move was nothing compared to Barack Obama’s religious prop. He’s visiting Jerusalem’s Western Wall late tonight with the slavering Obamedia in tow. Will he have his campaign staff leave a grafitti Obama ‘08 logo on the hallowed site?

Might as well. Looks like it’s working with some people:

Chairman of Republicans Abroad in Israel, Kory Bardash, thinks Senator Obama is doing a good job on the tour.

“I think if I was one of Barack Obama’s operators I would tell them to do the exact same thing,” he said.

“Take a picture by the Western Wall, go to Sderot and show that you identify with the citizens that have been living under a barrage of rockets for the last eight years, and hopefully those images, in lieu of a real record, will play well in the Jewish communities and the pro-Israel community in the US.”

***

Jim Hoft wonders what Obama’s position on Jerusalem will be tomorrow.

Meanwhile, IBD looks at the Euro mosh pit that awaits The One.

Obama is not a friend of Isarel. From what I have been reading on other sites, many Jewish people are not falling for the Obama flip flop tour. They are paying attention to what Obama has been saying and then retracting and who his associates are. That is far more telling of the person Obama really is.

Doesn’t look like the trip to the Western Wall went too well for Barack Hussein Obama, according to the Drudge headline.

As a Catholic, I didn’t think it was crass or exploitation at all. The Virgin of Guadalupe is a Catholic apparition site for the entire Americas. None of my Catholic coworkers or fellow grad students took office.

Why? Because John McCain is pro-life, and no Catholic in good conscience can vote for pro-abortion Barack Hussein Obama. The photo is not exploitation; it is the truth, and a sign to Hispanics that they cannot be going to mass, praising Jesus, while voting for the anti-Catholic Barack Hussein Obama.

John McCain is the candidate for true Catholics, just as Barack Hussein Obama is the candidate for true Muslims. That is why religious Jews are taking offense at the shameless exploitation of the Western Wall.

Folks, this is a glimmer of reality. I just received this News Alert from the Wall Street Journal:

The key question in the contest isn’t over any single issue, but the focus has turned to the Democratic candidate himself: Can Americans get comfortable with Obama?

    Here’s the link:

Maybe, just maybe, some reality is starting to sink in with the populace. I’m thinking with all the harping about the groupie behavior of the anchors, the glowing (and unending) reviews, praises, etc., people are finally, taking a closer look. Could it be skepticism setting in?

    Perhaps.

Considering the MSM will never delve into his past and will simply rely on the books he has written about himself, you will be hard pressed to get any info from the television or from news articles.

Let us just hope that McCain and his staff really are finally getting the hint and will begin to exploit all he gaping chasms in Obamessiah’s past, his statements and everything else.

The Empty Suit has given the McCain campaign the tools and information it needs to sink him and crush any hopes Obamessiah has of being present gift wrapped and on a silver platter. However, if they do not use what they have been given, and pound it into people’s brains relentlessly every day between now and November, he will never stand a chance. I cannot think of a Presidential Election in this country where a candidate was more blatantly inept or unqualified to be President, yet because of some imaginary sense of “fair play” known only to McCain…he has not even been scratched by it.

Just pathetic and unforgiveable on the part of the GOP that B. Hussein has made it this far, let alone is still so highly regarded in the polls.

But Millions are comfortable with Obama to one degree or another and that is scarier than Obama himself. Just how many of our people ARE willing to accept such a race/class baiter with obvious sympathies to islam? Why, what has happened? Are we to go down the path of the European fascist state?

I have met more than just a few people who absolutely swoon over the European model while fully acknowledging Europe’s high taxes. They think we can escape the high taxes and high unemployment by taxing the rich. I guess these are Obama’s people. Fools every one of them. If we are to take back our country we have to work harder and be a little more ruthless with the ‘moderates’. I do believe, and I am guilty too, that we conservatives have been a little to lax on the local and state offices such as school boards. This is when the Leftist plant their evil seeds.

If Obama’s numbers dropped to 41/40% it would still show a basic flaw in the American character. I know a lot of that is disgust with McCain and the Republican Party, but it is still too high.

I wondered why Obama had so much trouble saying that the surge in Iraq was working…

This morning, while jogging and thinking about Obama’s time in Israel, I compared Obama to the Jews of the Old Testament. Both identify with the feelings of that book. The Jews had it rough, they had great adversity but were the chosen ones the anointed the people hungering for change and the promised land. The coming of a Messiah is foretold in the Old Testament.

The Jews do not accept the New Testament because in that book they are no longer the suffering people who are promised great things. The Old Testament is THEIR book and they hold on to it with an iron fist; they celebrate all the pains and struggles over and over.

Obama too has his Old Testament; the failed start to the Iraq war. Things were bad and people began to hope for a Messiah that would save them. However, along came a New Testament in the form of a successful surge and Obama can’t let go of the old. The failure in Iraq is what allowed for the foretelling and accepting of a Messiah. He can’t let go.

New Testament about getting along, acceptance and salvation, while the Old is about pain, suffering, and the hope of a Messiah to lead the people out of the wilderness.

I know this is just rambling, but it was fun to think about while jogging…

The obamessiah has bought into his own propaganda!!

After all of those years attending Trinity United, I would think Obama would feel more at home with a bunch of hollering rather than reverence…

I found the conclusion of the IBD piece to be damningly on-point:

Blaming America first may be nice for Germany’s anti-Americans. But trying to influence U.S. voters with a campaign rally of people who loathe much of what America stands for strikes us as poor judgment.

Maybe the truth about those who cheer Obama and his lollapalooza world tour ought to be better known to U.S. voters.

I was mentioning to a friend last night that this Berlin campaign stunt — rallying thousands of cheering, America-hating Germans, standing before a monument to German nationalism, militarism and conquest — has great potential to be Hopenchange’s “Paul Wellstone Memorial Moment.”

Remember Wellstone’s memorial service in 2002, which turned into a braying, over-the-top, shameless orgy of donkey self-congratulation and hubris? That equally revolting and clarifying scene was instrumental in dooming Walter Mondale’s campaign to replace Wellstone in the Senate.

Yes, I’m sure the domestic America-hating left here will be having multiple obasms watching the spectacle on TV, but for many more Americans the response will more likely be along the lines of, “What in the hell is this clown doing? When did Germans get the franchise here?”

And then come the natural, logical, follow-up questions:

“Why should we be currying favor with people whose loathing for America goes far beyond a personal hatred of George Bush?”

“If Europe is so wonderful, so much better than us, and we need to be more like them, then why did we need to save them from themselves twice in the last century?”

“What parts of European ’superiority’ should we emulate? It’s political and social contributions to civilization, like Marxism, Fascism, Nazism and Socialism? Its stagnant economies? Its bitterness and jealousy? Its growing totalitarian leanings, as evidenced by the actions of the EU? Its adolescent refusal to maintain the ability to defend itself? Its obsequiousness toward totalitarians all over the globe? What, exactly?”

“Why should we seek popularity with those who would be — indeed, who within 50 years will be — slaves?”

Yes, Hopenchange’s media sycophants and his lefty acolytes and minions will portray his “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” rally before anti-American Germans as some sort of political triumph … but as the saying goes:

“There are stupid Americans, but Americans are not stupid.”

Probably for the same reason some of our more left tilting justices refer to European law for their decisions: the Europeans are just sooo sophisticated. Much more so than the great unwashed of this country. /sarc

Why doesn’t Obama run for a seat on the Knesset, or perhaps for the presidency of the EU? Good grief, he’s so popular (according to Brian Williams) he could single-handedly solve all the problems in the EU and the Middle East…then bring all that “experience” home to the US and save us all.

Only one heckler, but he shouted the same thing over and over again. The crowd did not shout the heckler down, so they must have sympathized with his view. Obama was struck by the heckling, saying the scene was “rowdy,” and that he had expected “more reverence.” A picture is worth a thousand words, and you were not there to paint it.

Ever hear of a thing called “political science”?

Okay, dunderhead, I’ll give you a quick answer: Israel is the only true western style democracy in the Middle East. Seems reasonable to support those types of governments because they are stable. The ME is and always have been an unstable region, therefore, it behooves us to support and ally with those types of governents which are similar to our own. Similar interests make political bedfellows.

Now that’s the second stupid question you’ve asked today. You’re past your quota. Remove thumb from your mouth and pick up a book to read.
