On a personal note…
Blogging has been lighter than usual. But for some very good reasons.
My godson T.J. was born last night. He’s a whopping 8 pounds 2 ounces and 21 inches long– a great, big bundle of joy. I was thrilled to be there for his arrival. His mom and dad are doing great. What a blessing.
Also: It’s my 15th wedding anniversary today. Yep! I’ll be unplugged the rest of the afternoon with my family, but our fabulous guest-blogger See-Dubya will pop in as usual.

Two things: 1) congratulations on your (and your family’s) milestone(s). These achievements make the passage of time both worthwhile and enjoyable.
2) This is the operational definition of a microvacation – taking a break from ordinary activities to do what you want – even if it’s just to smell the roses for a while – before returning to the daily grind.
Here’s hoping for you many more milestones and microvacations, and of course, continued success.

We get to spoil the heck out of em and them listen to our childern whine cause we never treated them the way we do our grandkids. Michelle, I loved the video as I’m a big Shania fan and of that song in particular. Haven’t heard of her in years though. She grew up poor and raised her two younger siblings when her parents died in a car crash. I don’t know if she’s a lib or a con but her singing touches me. To me the essence of conservatism is having a personal vision, which is personally vetted as true, and joyous, and then you share it with others because you want them to be touched as you were. That’s what you do. You’re the Shania Twain of the blogosphere.

I’m also glad to see that you’re among the half (60%, whatever) of married couples that are still together. I know more people whose marriages ended in divorce than didn’t. Hence, I wonder why I would ever want to get married (one usually has to be in a relationship for that to happen anyway). If anything, witnessing the divorces around me has stressed to me the importance of choosing the correct mate. Too many people don’t take the vow “till death do us part” seriously. Marriage is a rite of passage where a lot of people would rather opt out or cheat on the spouse when the going gets rough instead of working through the hardships or choosing the best mate in the first place. Old news, I know.
It would seem that you’re in a healthy marriage, so I won’t advise you to appreciate what you have, etc. I assume you already do. In any event, you’re not reading any of our comments right now since you’re supposed to be unplugged, right?

Sorry to go off topic… Anyone remember The Obama’s “civilian national security force” speech? I’m trying to dig up a transcript that includes the frightening remarks, but I can’t find it anywhere. The MSM, not surprisingly, have whitewashed the remarks from all of their transcripts, so none of those will work. Can anyone help?

Fat Jolly Penguin, I found the transcript of the speech from the Wall Street Journal and the Denver Post, and those look like advanced copies. If he made these remarks that deviated from the prepared script, then it would take someone to watch the video and then make a transcript from his actual words. Apparently on the hotair page that talks about this,and I guess you’ve already seen it.
