Obamedia Watch: Left-wing minority journalists show their true colors
“He touched me!”
So squealed a journalist attending Barack Obama’s speech yesterday to UNITY, the conglomerate of racial/ethnic identity-obsessed news associations for blacks, Asian-Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans in the media, according to the Chicago Tribune’s Swamp blog.
The UNITY event organizers were so concerned about public displays of Obamedia affection that they issued several warnings to their news professional members that the speech would be broadcast live on CNN. “Professional decorum” was encouraged. One wire story even fretted: “Can minority journalists resist applauding Obama?”
Um, well, some of us can. But we don’t count.
Despite the cautionary messages, it appears many of the minority journalists in attendance couldn’t contain their decidedly un-objective adoration of Obama. Fresh from his World Tour de Farce, Obama was welcomed by the “journalists of color” conventioneers with standing ovation, cheers, and whistles–along with repeated applause during his remarks.
No word on whether anyone fainted, wept, ogled, or performed a “happy dance.” Also no word on whether any female journalists were assigned to monitor Obama’s sweat glands.
The WSJ did, however, report that there was at least one audience member wearing an Obama t-shirt” and the Trib’s Swamp blog notes in addition to the worshiper who swooned at Obama’s touch, another journalist was overheard wishing the candidate good luck.
The UNITY convention chairman downplayed Obama’s slavering rock-star reception, blaming locals for making all the noise.
But left-wing partisan minority journalists have already shown their true colors. In 2004, more than half of the 2,000 UNITY media professionals who attended failed Dem presidential nominee John Kerry’s address gave him a standing ovation (none for Bush), cheered his partisan jibes, and booed during President Bush’s remarks:
There was applause nearly 50 times during [Kerry’s] address. There was laughter when he took a shot at the Bush administration by noting that “just saying there are weapons of mass destruction (in Iraq) doesn’t make it so.” He got a standing ovation at the end.
What was true then is true now: UNITY and its minority journalism members are inherently politicized entities. They push for a left-leaning agenda of advocacy journalism, color-coded diversity, and open-borders sympathizing disguised as reporting. They mau-mau editors to avoid ethnic descriptions when it reflects badly on their group (see AAJA: Don’t call shooter Asian!) and applaud themselves for promotion “diversity” in journalism.
I poked fun at the group-think that infects UNITY gatherings four years ago with my own Malkin Media Diversity Test. Still applies today.
In defending the pep-rally atmosphere, one Dateline NBC employee argued that journalists should allowed to be “human beings:”
Said Luz Villarreal, an associate producer for “Dateline NBC”: “I don’t think it’s such a bad thing if for 15 minutes you take off your reporter hat and respond to (Obama) as a human being at an event where you’re surrounded by people of color and you’re here for a united cause.”
Funny how that works. Expressing solidarity for the “united cause” of promoting pride in “people of color” is acceptable American media behavior. But wearing an American flag pin on the air to express solidarity with the united cause of pride in our country is not.
Racial/ethnic pride: Good.
National pride: Bad.
It’s “UNITY” you can’t believe in.

The media, essentially all of it, are nothing more than a left wing system of propaganda machines operating to support the Democrats and other leftist causes. They are not fair; they are not balanced; and, they certainly don’t produce factual unbiased “news”. The key is to inform the public of their warped perspective and separate them from any association with credible journalism or fair reporting.
I think your Media Diversity Test needs one more question:
I believe in the Lord Almighty God, attend Church, pray, and read the Bible regulary.
Lets see how many members of the Lame Stream Media can say “yes” to that one.
True journalism is supposed to present unbiased facts, not invent the facts to support your personal views. But how is the MSM supposed to learn this in the liberal universities this country has. The only news we get from the MSM nowadays is what they support and they are not ashamed to show their support while covering the news.
“UNITY” reminds me of the “Rainbow Coalition” – any color but white.
Diversity of skin color does not equal diversity of thought or opinion. Liberals are afraid of real diversity because the liberal ideology cannot succeed in a world where Conservatism has an equal voice.
This would embarrass me if I were a journalist. One can never truly be “unbiased.” By nature of choosing one story over another, the feeling that one story will make more of a difference than another to people, shows that a bias must exist. For example, a book is biased because it’s impossible to completely exhaust all thoughts on a particular topic. Some discernment must take place to determine what to write or not. The biggest problem I see with journalists like this is that they have foresaken the previous notion of what is “newsworthy”. No longer is it the sake of the Constitution or our Country, but rather, like many things nowadays, whatever one chooses their ideal to be (i.e. political, social, racial causes, etc.) The problem with this lack of civics in our journalists is now when it comes time to make truly meaningful public policy and voting decisions, the public is woefully unprepared. If our “free press” were to fulfil its charter under the Constitution, rather than cheapening their own profession by choosing sides, then we would all be better off. It’s far harder to use the Constitution and Founding principles rather than one’s own views, but that’s what journalists are called to do. One quality of a profession is that it must police its own. Like I say, I’m embarrassed for their “profession” more than anything.
People of color and a united cause. There is a slogan the Obaminites and sodomites can put on a bumper sticker. I’ll stick with a cross and the flag lapel pin.

If I were a RINO (and we might has well retire the term “republican” since there are so few of them left), this is what I would conclude: we’ve got to distance ourselves from and screw over our base even more! So a teeny-tiny percentage of the hate-whitey crowd will come on over — and RINOs will then be the majority party forever! McCain is a fool, but to be fair, he has plenty of company in his party.

I’ve tussled in the past with columnist Rochelle Riley. I was not surprised to find her giving the winning bid on an Ebony magazine cover photo of Obama at the Unity convention. Obama is one of 25 black men picked by the editors of Ebony as representing something called “Black Cool.” The editors even bow to the “swagger” of the 25. Some Democratic Underground members are trying to place the picture—anyone here care to waste an hour to help them?
Scientists recently discovered an astounding breakthrough. The speed-of-light barrier was finally broken at a local cemetary when observers witnessed Edward R. Murrow’s body spinning in excess of the previously thought cosmic speed limit.
So the MSM wants us to be fine with this type of balantant bias from nbc/msnbc but when an underling at Fox News gives John McCain a heads-up, we’re supposed to turn off the channel? Get real!
This form of racism is perfectly fine with the lame stream media.
Watching a documentary on the “Mongols” motorcycle gang a few weeks ago, what struck me was how distorted their sense of “respect” was: they demand it from everybody and take offense if they don’t get it, but they don’t want to show anybody respect in return.
It strikes me that liberal “journalists” are becoming similar to the Mongols, just substitute “professionalism” for “respect.” They demand that the public treat them as professionals, but don’t want to offer a professional service in return.
It’s getting to the point where “Jounalism” needs to be retired as a political major in college, and Journalism schools be simply rolled up into the PoliSci department. Call it a mercy killing, and get it over with.
When a journalist joins UNITY does he or she receive a free pair of knee pads ? Or is it just assumed they come with their lib arts degree ?

Back in the good old days of the Cold War I would read press releases from Soviet news oulets Pravda and Izvestiya that were no more than communist propaganda. I remember thinking “How could journalists collaborate so slavishly to to such an obviously flawed, oppressive system? Have they no pride or ethics?” Back then, at least they had the excuse that there was no option and that the system was so oppresive one had no choice but to cooperate. The only other choice was a one-way ticket to a work camp.
Now we have the phenomenon of the free press openly and shamelessly being used as a tool for the Democrats. What is their excuse for dropping their coveted and much heralded journalistic independence – they won’t be invited to some party or win a much coveted award? I think these people are undeserving of the freedom of the press that so many in this country and others have fought and struggled for. They would be better off being stooges for a communist dictatorship. No thought, research, or objectivity required. Just report the party line.
The Obamabots’ worship of him does have a religous feel to it doesn’t it? This fanatical religous zeal is dangerous for the country.

I saw a segment on the Washington Journal on CSPAN this weekend which had an editorial writer from the Washington Times, I believe her name was Deborah Simmons, an African American woman, who stated she was leaning McCain. The tone of the calls that came in after that was about what could be expected when somebody leaves the plantation of the Democrats.
The African American community is being held in check by good old fashioned peer pressure, the same pressure that causes so many teenagers to try something that is neither healthy or sensible.
Hopefully the grown ups will show up at the polls in November.

My wife and I went to see a performance of The Merchant of Venice at Shakespeare on the Square in Knoxville Saturday evening. While enjoying a nice dinner at one of the local eateries on Market Square, we noticed a table set up with Obama ‘08 material all over it and the occupants registering people to vote.
By chance, my wife had a puppy with us that she is crate training. At one point, I had stepped into the Preservation Pub on the square to partake of a cold beer to combat the heat. When I came back out, she told me that the puppy had decided to relieve himself (#2). She said she cleaned up his mess and deposited it in the trash can next to the Obama table. I laughed and told her she needs to walk him in the mulch bed directly behind their table next time and conveniently forget to pick it up. That would have gotten ripe pretty quick in the hot and humid weather that night. It’s too bad he didn’t have to go again that night.
Minority racism has never been tabooized like white racism. Should be on the todo list before majority-minority America, which is coming up soon with the masses of chamberpot and illegal immigrants flooding in.

The three biggest problems with what passes for journalism these days in one story:
1. “Diversity” bean counting in terms of skin/ethnicity but not in social/economic/ideological terms. Since their melanin count and ethnicity got them those jobs, they primarily identify themselves on that basis, i.e. “I’m a Latina producer” or a “black editor” or an “Asian reporter.” They’re constantly expected to have a Latina/black/Asian/gay/whatever perspective according to what white liberals think that perspective is supposed to be.
2. Too many advocates and activists in the newsroom out to “make a difference.”
3. Everybody’s a liberal or a far leftist.
Good for the members of UNITY to have something they believe in, good for Obama and his audacity to pretend to be the President, and good for the Democratic Party. What does McSwish offer other than herrump and his experience qualify him as the best choice in all things but he never explains the piece parts of that experience as though it is a magic carpet. His piece parts would not make a starter tinker toy set and lets not forget his life experience proves global warming is caused by humans and even though Hispanics favor him by 23% he see them a God’s children (others might see illegal Mexicans as felon indent thief artists and social benefits explorers).

Your claim that the press knows Obama best is clearly ignorant at least because Obama is not with the press 24/7 UNLESS it suits obama and then you only see what obama wants you to see. In fact alot of the press complained during obamas “tour of duty” in the war zones because they were left out. So your comment about Obama is either just ignorant or uninformed.
