The Brangelina-fication of the Obamas
So I picked up that issue of People magazine with the photo-ready Obama family on the cover over the weekend. You know–the cover featuring the young daughters whose privacy Barack and Michelle so sanctimoniously claim to want to protect.
I lost 15 IQ points reading the slavering profile: Michelle hula hoops with her daughters! They’re just like you and me! The kids have slumber parties! They’re just like you and me! Barack did laundry, but he didn’t fold! They’re just like you and me. The kids get small allowances. They’re just like you and me! The Obamas wear normal clothes doing normal things.
THEY’RE JUST LIKE YOU AND ME!
It’s supposed to be an “exclusive” first and last look at life at home with the Obamas. Knowing what we know about the Obama we know, it probably won’t be the last. They’ve hawked the kids to Access Hollywood, blabbed about their romance to Us magazine, and plopped Michelle O– the purported “civilian” whom the Obamessiah declares immune from public criticism — in front of the cameras to schmooze the Colbert Show and View demographics. They think the two-faced, tabloid strategy (show their true elitist colors behind closed doors, play the Every Family for the Obamedia sycophants) is working– and given our dumbed-down, celebrity-obsessed culture, they are probably right.
While Snobama complains about “bitter” rural voters who “cling” to their guns and complains about the price of arugula, JustLikeMe&YouMichelle brags about buying her sundresses at discount retailer H&M.
Gag.
They did everything but pick their noses for the cameras to show their Real People bona fides.
The tabloid world is loving it. Bonnie Fuller hails the Obamas as the “Brangelina of the political world:”
Women come to feel so close to celebrities, they almost consider them part of their circle of friends. More than 60 million women a week now read the enormously influential glossies, and one of their biggest appeals are the “Stars Are Just Like Us”-style features — those regularly featured photographs of stars going about their everyday lives
Celebrity weeklies have successfully enhanced the appeal of Hollywood stars, not only by glamorizing them but by humanizing them as well.
The fact that they shop at the supermarket, pick up their own dry cleaning and play with their kids in the park just makes Brad, Angie, Jen Garner, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson and the rest of the cast of A-list characters all the more likable.
If humanizing celebrities sells magazines and movie tickets, why wouldn’t some “Obamas are just like us” stories help make voters feel more familiar and comfortable with the Obamas?
Obama and Company are banking on people’s stupidity and his cult of celebrity personality to carry him to the White House. Unfortunately, the odds are in his favor. Just try talking to one of the millions of people with their noses buried in People or Us about Obama’s relationship with Jeremiah Wright or Bill Ayers, his foreign policy flubs on Iran or his flip-flops on the surge, and you’ll see what I mean.
Futility.

Oh no they ain’t.
The sad part, McAmnesty only has 100 days to start “acting” like a concervative. I don’t think he can act like that for 100 days so it’s going to be a close call.
Our public school systems and institutions of higher education have taught people how to feel strongly but not how to think strongly. This election will be nothing but a feel good election unless something significant happens.
I am not one of the 60 million women reading those magazines. I have never read one and sure not gonna to get a home, fuzzy, just like me view of bho and family.
L
What have I been saying about the idiocy of many women voters??? Talk about sheep mentality.
Michelle Obama hula-hoops, Barack HUSSEIN Obama does laundry, and their daughters have slumber parties, huh?
Considering how thin his Presidential resume is to begin with, I suppose he DOES need everything on there he can get.
People aren’t stupid. Many are lonely or desparate for friendships real or imagined. They’re just being exploited.
What’s truly amazing is that sooo many people out there DON’T see this, at all. They’ve been taken in by the Messiah’s “cult of personality” and aren’t bothering to examine his background, his votes (present or otherwise), or his policy proposals (what we know about them). They’ll lap it up like the lost puppies they are as they follow his every move, and no one can tell them any different. Its pathetic…the libs deserve an empty suit like this, but the rest of us, and the country, don’t.
He is just like you and me?
Didn’t he go to Harvard?
Buy a house worth over 1.5 million?
Have a wife in a coushy 300K per year job?
Just get an all-expence paid tour of the Middle East and Europe?
Attend a church for 20 years where hate and Racism was served up with the gospel?
Hang around with a guy who bombed the Pentagon and call the guy his friend?
Yea… Riiiight…. He is just like you and me…
This is the first time in my adult life that I am [NOT] proud of my country!
(At least it’s political system…)
Are they clinging? Condescension can cut both ways…
After years of irritating our friends and family with my political conservative conversations, I think I’ve finally woken my wife up to the realities of politics and it’s impact on our daily lives.
She’s never been a ‘liberal’ or even ‘democrap’ in any sense of the word, but she has, like many other Americans, been blinded by the mask of self-ignorance when it comes to politics. She figured there was nothing she could do about it so just didn’t want to know.
Finally, after all this time, I’ve started laying off the political rhetoric hammer and have just started giving her short comments like
“Obama’s already said he’s going to raise taxes if he wins.”
or “Look at this picture of Obama with a Halo around his head, I thought media were suppose to be non-biased.?!”
or “Wow, as soon as President Bush removed the Presidential block on drilling, the oil prices dropped $20 per barrel.”
These comments have had much better success in getting her interested in the TRUTH.
She may once have believed the People Magazine folks that Michelle and her are sympatico, but I think those days are gone.
*Whew*
They’ll be even more like Brangelina when they adopt a couple of token poor white Appalachian kids. Not holding my breath no matter how bad it stinks.
With everything else working in his favor! Who is left to be objective in this election? The mission of BHO is near completion and the dumbing down of Americans has never been higher. Thanks to CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, and UNIVISION!!!
Of course, asking them about not honoring their personal promises (not to mention their political ones) would be taboo.
People might consider spending a bit of time with Cindy McCain, but they might get their shoes dirty.
Musta hid their Burkas in a trunk.
Nailed it.
“Barf”
This race will be close.
Mac,
You are probably proud of your country but not its politicians and fixed primary process.
My sister visited with us this past weekend. We stopped by the grocery store (hubby wanted to bbq) and we were in the check-out line when I saw this magazine. My sister reached for it and I thought “oh no, she is going to actually buy that thing”… and she did.
What surprised me wasn’t the fact that she bought it. It was the fact that I allowed her in my home with it! Should have kicked her to the curb.
So they’re just victims, right?
It’s called personal responsibility. If you’re not smart enough to see that you’re being exploited, then you’re stupid.
Um you do realize that those media outlets have been rougher on Obama.
lgm,
how many copies have you purchased?
So says the media, that is in the bag for Obama. So I am sure we can trust them to oversee them selves right? RIIIGGGHHHTTTT.
TOS,
UPI reporting on a liberal organization’s findings. Ah more balanced reporting /sarc off
Meanwhile I think I’ve gotten diabetes from all the Obama coverage.
That pretty well describes it.
30,
lgm is probably going blind right now.
All I know is that Pamela Anderson has endorced Barack and I take her word as solid gold, especially when it come to Politics.
sarc/
Wow, what a cerebral publication.
Terrorists, Hollywood, and the MSM supports Obama. Yeah this is what America needs.
If the U.S. elects this guy, it will get what it deserves. Unfortunately, the rest of us who know better will share from the same bitter dish.
There are many times where I think this country is on a slow march to voluntary submission to tyranny. We are perhaps the first populace in the history of mankind to willingly and enthusiastically slip the noose around our own necks, all the while convinced we are leading the way for the rest of the world to follow.
Will the audacity of hope be the next Mein Kampf? In that you must own it to get ahead in government service? (no I am not comparing him to hitler TOS and LGM except in TACTICS they probably still will not get that.)
He reads the copy in the faculty lounge…and Sandy Burglars it when he’s finished.
Not everyone is an intellectual. There was a book called The Golden Turkey Awards by Michael Medved that named the worst movies of all time. One was the 1970s remake of Lost Horizon. I saw my mother watching it and was appalled to see her loving it. Then I saw how happy it made her and (I think, I hope) I held my tongue. My mom is a lot closer to People than Proust. She loves Obama; I didn’t tell her about “Ich bin ein beginner.” I still love her more than I admire MIchelle Malkin, and that’s a lot.
Celebrity worship combined with a superficial knowledge of public affairs is a plague on this country. I’m conviced a more informed electorate would never let most Dems anywhere near a government office, except to pick up their benefit check.
#22 & #23,
Are you guys aware of where the funding of CMPA comes from? If you look into it, I think you will find that the quote from the link I posted…
…is accurate.
So BHO does laundry, he just doesn’t fold it. I’m thinking he doesn’t put it away either.
Seems to me this is a real parallel to his thoughts on policy; has a point of view but doesn’t get all wrapped up in the execution – tedious details and unintended consequences. Let’s face it, washing is the easy part.
But no worries, any constructive criticism of his lack of experience or his associates is dismissed as devisive or a distraction, worse yet, as rascism.
Hmmm, nothing elitist about insulting the readership of one of the most popular publications in the country. Talk about sour grapes.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t you a member of the media of some sort? So why are you piling on to the excessive “Obamedia” coverage by providing ’round-the-clock coverage of the coverage? Is McCain really so boring that even you can’t find something compelling to write about?
TOS,
Not buying it. The media is clearly in the bag for obama. Sorry but fix is in for Obama.
That’s disturbing… on so many levels.
The Obamas used to be regular guys who come from the ‘hood, but they forgot where they came from and much on arugula instead of collard greens.
Welcome to People Magazine, the most intellectual of the supermarket tabloids. That’s America.
Our current President from an old Connecticut blueblood family attended elite boarding schools his whole life and passed himself off as country folk from Texas.
Americans are wise when they vote Republican but shallow when they vote for Democrats?
Hey asshole, this is between friends not interlopers.
First we get Bambi stories at breakfast time, now more Bambi stories at lunchtime. Blech.
I better quit reading this stuff or I won’t keep down a meal all day.
sarc/off
Hey asshole, this is betwen friends not trolls

Maybe Cindy can give us all free rides on her private plane that is of course if she’s not stoned on the drugs she’s stolen from her charity.
By dirty do you mean slinging dirt with a home wrecker, drug addict or thief? Or is it all of the above. Please clarify.
When examining the potential first ladies, let’s do an exhaustive check on the background of both of the candidates’ wives.
Well after decades of liberal education and a total neglect of history to the point that most americans don’t even know what the korean war was, its not a bad bet.
That captures the essence of the problem, Michelle. Hopenchange zombies can’t be reached via logic or evidence, because they don’t want to be reached.
They’ve already found their salvation; intruding into their bubble-world only makes them want to kill the messenger.
Those of us who recall Jimmy Carter 1.0 remember that he also held himself out as being “just like us” — right down to wearing blue jeans on the campaign trail and sitting down to dinner with “ordinary folks.” As Hopenchange is Jimmy Carter 2.0/Lite (and George McGovern 2.0, but that’s a whole ‘nother story), it should surprise no one that he’s zippered himself up in a sheep costume for effect.
What was old is new again. Recall this exchange from an old Bob Hope movie:
Guy on right: “… A zombie has no will of his own. You see them sometimes, walking around blindly, with dead eyes, following orders, not knowing what they do, not caring.”
Bob Hope: “You mean like Democrats?”
What more need be said?
Pffft.
Well… actually, the Obama family IS a lot more like mine than John and Cindy McCain’s is.
Does your family own 13 houses and is your wife a Beer Princess worth around $100 million? No? Then your family is more like the Obamas too.
I mean, compared to the McCains, OF COURSE, the Obamas are more like most Americans.
But Michelle, don’t let me disturb your ongoing case of Obama Derangement Syndrome (ODS). It’s always amusing to see what new novel trivial detail you’re going to fixate on next. Carry on.
Shhhh! I think lgm is getting a little quiet time with his copy of People right now.
Prove it. Examples please.
Excuse me, but it’s not “elitist” to criticize and mock those who obtain political opinion or information from a periodical dedicated to fawning over celebrities. As a matter of fact, to rely on such a rag is pure idiocy. Popularity is certainly not a basis for determining the value of something. Only adolescents do that.
What would you think of someone who says he is going to fix your brakes by reading Vanity Fair? Would you rely on the abilities of that person?
Well… actually, the Obama family IS a lot more like mine than John and Cindy McCain’s is.
—————
No they are not. My family doesn’t follow black liberation theology.
see #37 for example
What an original turn of phrase. Charles Krauthammer, call your lawyer.
Apparently, the tone deafness of Phil “Nation of Whiners” Gramm has reared its ugly ear.
Or buy a used Prius? Great stuff.
TOS, an insult? I am honored. Seriously though if you can’t see how the media is in the bag for Obama then you simply are blind. Some of them almost have orgasims when he speaks. So if you feel like being a good slave to the media, good luck with that. BTW did you know that Obamas brother works to send more jobs to china? He literaly works to increase cheap chinesse exports from china. Thats your guys BROTHER.
Now THAT’s the snobama we know.
Right… Where does it say that the purpose of this blog is to report on the Republican candidate? I am sure there are blogs that chronicle McCain’s every move… if that is what you are looking for, read one of those.
TOS link for obamas brother.
I am ashamed to say that People magazine used to be my housewife crack. It’s the classiest of the gossip rags, though, and many “typical white people” will read this issue and exclaim, “The Obamas are just like you and me!”
That’s correct. And where is Odumbo when it comes to this celebrity culture phenomena that consumes young minds these days?
Oh, silly me. That’s right, he’s PART of the problem.
Just goes to show you that his crowd of followers aren’t exactly National Geographic material.
corrected.
TOS #20 & #34
Yeah right, the accuracy of that link is beyond question. They have the date for Obama leaving on his “Love Tour” of the Middle East and beyond as June 21. They are not even capable of fact checking the dates they use.
I believe you are the one who is blind in the face of FACTS. Or will you offer me some contradictory evidence to the FACTS I gave you? Or will you just stick blindly to your Rush Limbaugh talking points?
Thanks for the perfect example of more negative media coverage of Obama. Big deal – his half-brother with whom “they do not appear to be close”, lives and works in China.
FOR TOS:
Big Media applies this rationalization to every argument used to point out bias. ‘It’s not a result of bias’, they say. ‘It’s a matter of news judgment.’ And, like the man who knows his wallet was pick-pocketed but can’t prove it, the public is left to futilely rage against the injustice of it all.
The ‘newsworthy’ argument can be applied to every metric: one-sided imbalances in airtime, story placement, column inches, number of stories, etc. Every metric, save one.
An analysis of federal election records shows that the amount of money journalists contributed so far this election cycle favors Democrats by a 15:1 margin over Republicans, with $225,563 going to Democrats, only $16,298 to Republicans .
235 journalists donated to Democrats, just 20 gave to Republicans—a margin greater than 10:1. An even greater disparity, 20:1, exists between the number of journalists who donated to Barack Obama and John McCain.
Searches for other newsroom categories (reporters, correspondents, news editors, anchors, newspaper editors and publishers) produces 311 donors to Democrats to 30 donors to Republicans, a ratio of just over 10:1. In terms of money, $279,266 went to Dems, $20,709 to Republicans, a 14:1 ratio.
And while the money totals pale in comparison to the $9 million+ that just one union’s PACs have spent to get Barack Obama elected, they are more substantial than the amount that Obama has criticized John McCain for receiving from lobbyists: 96 lobbyists have contributed $95,850 to McCain, while Obama—who says he won’t take money from PACs or federal lobbyists—has received $16,223 from 29 lobbyists.
A few journalists list their employer as an organization like MSNBC MSNBC.com, or ABC News, or report that they’re a freelancer for the New York Times, or are journalists for Al Jazeera, CNN Turkey, Deutsche Welle Radio, or La Republica of Rome (all contributions to Obama). Most report no employer. They’re mainly free-lancers. That’s because most major news organization have policies that forbid newsroom employees from making political donations.
As if to warn their colleagues in the media, MSNBC last summer ran a story on journalists’ contributions to political candidates which drew a similar conclusion: “Most of the newsroom checkbooks leaned to the left”
The timing of that article was rather curious. Dated June 25, 2007, it appeared during the middle of the summer news doldrums in a non-election year—timing that was sure to minimize its impact among the general public, while still warning newsrooms across the country that such political donations can be checked. In case that was too subtle, MSNBC ran a sidebar story detailing cautionary tales of reporters who lost their jobs or were otherwise negatively impacted because their donations became public.
As if to warn their comrades-in-news against putting their money where their mouths are, the report also cautioned that, with the internet, “it became easier for the blogging public to look up the donors.”
It went on to detail the ban that most major media organizations have against newsroom employees donating to political campaigns, a ban that raises some obvious First Amendment issues. Whether it’s intentional or not, the ban makes it difficult to verify the political leanings of Big Media reporters, editors and producers. There are two logical ways to extrapolate what those leanings are, though.
One is the overwhelming nature of the above statistics. Given the pack mentality among journalists and, just like any pack, the tendency to follow the leader—in this case, Big Media—and since Big Media is centered in some of the bluest of blue parts of the country, it is highly likely that the media elite reflects the same, or an even greater, liberal bias.
A second is to analyze contributions from folks in the same corporate cultures.
That analysis provides some surprising results. Individuals who reported being employed by major media organizations made the following contributions:
NBC, NBC Universal: $104,184 to Democrats / $3,150 to Republicans
CBS: $45,508 to Dems / $966 to Republicans
ABC: $17,320 / $4,717
Turner Broadcasting, TBS: $30,161 / $3,950
Fox: $40,573 / $0
Fox News/Fox News Channel: $1,280 / $0
MSNBC: $210 / $282
CNN: $2,286 / $1,250
Associated Press: $2,550 / $545
Reuters: $10,745 / $3,450
Washington Post, Newsweek: $4,268 / $0
New York Times, NYT Co: $8,143 / $0
Time, Inc: $40,988 / $4,850 ($2,300 to Republicans was from someone identified as a jeweler, so the total may actually be $2,550)
Time Magazine: $1,250 / $0
USA Today: $6,067 / $0
Totals for the above:
$315,533 to Democrats ; $22,656 to Republicans—most of that to Ron Paul, who was supported by many liberals as a stalking horse to John McCain, a la Rush Limbaugh’s Operation Chaos with Hillary and Obama.
What is truly remarkable about the above list is that, discounting contributions to Paul and Rudy Giuliani, who was a favorite son for many folks in the media, the totals look like this:
$315,533 to Democrats, $3,150 to Republicans (4 individuals who donated to McCain.)
Let me repeat that: $315,533 to Democrats, $3,150 to Republicans.
A ratio of 100 : 1.
No bias there.

And you are okay with a blood relavite of the us president actively pushing for more jobs to go to china. Talk about blindness
“Obama and Company are banking on people’s stupidity and his cult of celebrity personality to carry him to the White House. Unfortunately, the odds are in his favor.”
Couldn’t agree more.
Mr.Obama just traveled all over Europe visiting heads of state. Just like you an me!
Mrs.Obama has only once in her adult life been proud of the country that has given so much to her, and that’s because her husband might get to run it. Just like you and me!
Please, if that’s motivation behind the way the majority of Americans vote, then they deserve what they’re going to get.
Mass media will of course deny all responsibility.
TOS, you can believe the media about the media or you can follow the money, your choice.
TheOtherSide #20
Maybe so, I still find it hard to believe that there are more negative comments said about Obama than McCain. ???
Is this include all the controversy he has generated during the primary? or just the last month?
Sonofdy, great stats – very illuminating, although not surprising. Thanks.
nyc123me, thank Ed Mahmoud abu al-Kahoul, he gave them to me on the main thread. I agree, can’t argue with the money.
My wife is atypical…she loves People mag, but sees the Obamas for who they really are.
Michelle O is much more like Omarosa than she is like a “normal” person.
TOS did you know that Obama took over 9 million from PACs and is taking money from lobbys just like he promised not to?
The article claims that the study was done from June 8 to June 21.
I’ll believe the evidence of their reporting. Do you have any evidence showing their bias in favor of Obama in their reporting?
TOS:
I thought lgm was obtuse and stupid, but you certainly vie for first place.
OMG are you kidding? You are hopeless.
“Bias” toward Obama goes with education level and how informed you are. McCain leads among people without high school diplomas who don’t know what continent Iraq is in. People with graduate school degrees (like most journalists) who follow the news (like most journalists) favor Obama by a wide margin.
What makes the People coverage dangerous to Republicans is that the Republican strategy is to paint Obama as somehow weird “not like us”. Except for his enormous talent and ambition, he is like us. He has a happy family (unlike Reagan).
I belive the evidence of their bias is right there in their reporting for all to see. Turn on any major news channel, thumb through any of the top news publications… as the old saying goes, “The proof of the pudding is in the eating.”
Challenge to atheling & sonofdy:
Instead of name-calling, why don’t you two prove me wrong?
LGM, At least you finally admit the bias. But you just had to throw in your eltiest snobbery as well.
TOS:
Not worth the powder. Look up the meaning of “obtuse”.
Well, I guess I certainly don’t fit that mold. I went to graduate school. And I would vote for McCain any day over Obama, the socialist. You see, you have that backwards…
I actually graduated high school and went to college, and perhaps that’s where I learned about the pitfalls of socialist economies and why communism doesn’t work.
You see, you have that backwards…it’s the dumb folks who don’t know these little details that are more prone to vote blindly for Obama, the rock star.
You could have said that in far fewer words… Republicans are idiots, smart people vote for Obama. Reagan was not perfect. Suck it conservatives!
Verbosity aside though, great job staying on topic and sticking to your general high standard of discourse.
theotherside, I already did. You are just refusing to admit it. No problem, just a typical Obama whorshiper who refuses to see anything not approved by thier lord and master. I pity mind slaves like you and LGM who can’t look beyond the propoganda Obama pumps out. This is clear because you can’t even see that the guy supports black liberation theology, has a brother who works to INCREASE chinesse exports and has long links to self admited leftest anti-american terrorists.
sonofdy:
TOS is not worth the argument. All of your efforts will be in vain. He is truly on “the other side”, i.e., idiocy.
Best to ignore him. Treat him like a pimple and he’ll go away.
I am degreed but do not fawn over Obama or other liberals/socialists. There is a difference in being educated and being an educated dumbass. I am the prior, not the latter. Common sense does not come from a classroom.
Oh Lord my NotDear (I learned)don’t do that more than two or three times in any one week or you’ll become an Obamanite and have to work for
New
Bama
Company
or the New Obama Times!
But I imagine it takes an iron constitution to read People magazine.Oh well it is lunch time so I need to pray of ObaMessiah before my arugula salad Bro.
BlameAmericaLast (#81) and BarryF (#85): Most highly educated people support Obama, not all. Sean Hannity is a journalist who supports McCain. You two are college graduates who support McCain.
lgm: And all the rest must be “re-educated” till they do support obama right?
Or perhaps you think we should slavishly follow whatever the media and “educated” people decide is better for us. Go forbid we think for ourselves.
So lgm uses exceptions to prove a rule?
Another stupid pill down the gullet, libtard guano machine?
On July 28th, 2008 at 2:55 pm, lgm said:
I have a graduate degree and realized early on that higher education translates to a socialist indoctrination.
I am not like Obama, because unlike Obama, I have the capacity to think. I was not brainwashed by failed ideology.
It is both presumptuous and condescending to assume that anyone who reads People gets their political news exclusively from said rag, and equally insulting to assume these people don’t know about the “important” stuff like Jeremiah Wright. Assuming millions of Americans are stupid because they read a magazine is the definition of elitism.
Impressive level of detail in that post. good call on the numbers.
TOS,
If i approach the data from a neutral point, and just simply go by the numbers, it would appear that there is a rather large bias from the media in that direction. I find it hard to believe that someone who normally makes a good argument to brush off the numbers as not being convincing enough to frame an argument on this one. I would encourage you to open up a little more, re-read the numbers, and see it from that angle.
lgm,
I seriously dont think Obama is anything like me, in personality or anything else. Both him and I are of the same species, but that’s about it. I can’t say anything else without being absolutely rude and crass, which isnt worth the time or trouble. I would throw it out there, though, that he’s not anything like the average American. You can throw Bush under the bus if you want because that’s fair, but you STILL refuse to call something wrong as it is. It shows the flaws in your argument, and the weakness in your mentality. But make no mistake, Obama isn’t anything like your average American, no matter how you try to paint the picture.
HUGGYBEAR: so called reverand wright is important because his church links Obama to black liberation theology for 22 years. Are you sure you want a marxist(the base of black liberation theology) in the white house?
huggybear:
Straw man. I never said that ANYONE who reads People is doing so to obtain political information. However, there are those who DO, and People is counting on that.
Keep on trying, like a stopped clock, you might get something right.
i’ll bring the cheese on Jan 20 2009, cuz there is going to be a whole lot of whine from this site, hahaha..love it.
Don’t quit your day job, scooter. No one from Hollywood is going to be calling you any time soon.
Talk about out of left field. I think if you actually compared advanced degrees in industry, you’d find them overwhelmingly non-Obamites. People like Dr’s, scientists, engineers would not be in favor of socialism.
