Illegal alien sob story of the day
Here is what the open-borders culture of entitlement has wrought:
After expressing remorse to a jury that later spared his life, a Mexican citizen who hired hit men to kill two local men did an about face during last week’s sentencing hearing by professing his innocence and railing against the American criminal justice system.
In May, a Multnomah County jury found Joel Sanchez-Jacobo, 31, guilty of two counts of aggravated murder and one count of murder for soliciting two murders in 2006.
But on Friday, July 18, when he appeared before Judge Michael J. McShane to hear his sentence, the man claimed to have been railroaded by his state-appointed attorneys and said his constitutional rights had been violated.
“I am deeply aware that justice has not been served in this case because I stand before this court today as a Mexican citizen who is 100 percent absolutely innocent,” Sanchez-Jacobo said through an interpreter, who read his written statement when he became too overcome with emotion.
“I did not kill these men nor at any time did I order these deaths. … I am here today only because the American justice system has failed to protect my rights.”
An amazed judge passed down the same sentence the jury recommended – life in prison without possibility of parole for the first murder, plus life in prison with a minimum of 25 years for the second murder.
The sentences must be served one after the other, rather than at the same time.
Wait, it gets better. Or rather, worse:
Following his month-long trial, a jury found Sanchez-Jacobo guilty of aggravated murder and murder. Before the jury recommended a sentence, he made a statement called an allocution in which he remorsefully asked that jurors spare his life by not recommending a death sentence.
He wept. He also vowed to continue his education and make something of his life while behind bars.
But after his sentencing hearing rant, Judge McShane all but threw the book at him, calling his earlier display of remorse a joke.
Sanchez-Jacobo began his statement by expressing his deep sympathy to the families of the men “who died,” adding that his family also experienced much pain.
Then he demanded a new trial.
“I hereby object to my treatment in this court as a foreign national,” he said. “I was denied the right to an impartial jury trial.”
He said Mexican-Americans were excluded from his all-Caucasian jury. With immigration being such a hot topic, “the citizens of Oregon chant and picket with signs that say, ‘Lock down our borders, out with Mexicans,’ ” he said. “… And then I’m subject to a trial with these same citizens as jurors. That is sad.”
Sanchez-Jacobo cited violations to his constitutional rights to due process, a fair trial, his right to testify on his own behalf and a full disclosure of information to be presented in court.
Even his right to counsel was violated because his attorneys don’t speak Spanish and didn’t call witnesses who have could have cleared him, Sanchez-Jacobo said.
Then he complained that books in the jail’s law library aren’t written in Spanish.
“All the law books are in English,” he said. “I can’t read English. So I have been unable to do my own legal research because the system does not accommodate Spanish written law books.”
Now that he’s being sentenced, he’ll need to prepare for his legal appeal. “So what am I supposed to do?” he asked.
McShane, a seasoned judge, was shocked.
“I just find it amazing that you can stand here and say those things,” McShane said. “You’re concerned that you were mistreated here as a foreign national and yet you were importing into this country pounds and pounds of methamphetamine that were effecting all the people in this community. You ordered the killings of two people, and you’re telling us that we’re mistreating you.”

Is Trial-by-Woodchipper fair? So long as Oregon guarantees that it’s an impartial woodchipper?
What concerns me are the freaking aliens that inhabit the halls of Congress, both elected and otherwise crawling around lobbyists. All these people represent foreign matter infecting the body politic. Like cancer, they live off the healthy parts stealing its vitality. Vitality in this case is our money and freedom.
I’m glad the judge had common sense. I hope this scum makes many new “friends” while he serves in prison.
Even if the law books were written in Spanish, I think he would’ve discovered that murder is still punishable by life in prison.
Life in prison is too kind for this man, he should have gotten the death penalty. He has learned the art of playing the victim card though, he must vote liberal. ‘Look your honor, I broke this country’s laws and came here illegally and then smuggled in a ton of meth illegally and then ordered two men killed and am complicit in their murders but this is so like, unfair, and stuff, because there are no Spanish books in prison and how am I to learn your legal system and abuse more of your tax dollars on countless appeals if you can’t even stock the prisons with Spanish books on American Law?’
Sounds about right for warped the world has become where down is up and up is down.
We could show him mistreatment, let him do his time in a Mexican jail. That might change his tune.
There should be one book in Spanish, and that one is about learning how to read English.
I am sure someone can get him a paper that says “You’re f^$*)d in Spanish.
poor baby…this really breaks my heart….NOT!!!!!
So how are things in 1992?
For someone who cannot read English, he had no problem grasping the legal vernacular… Next question is – who coached him?
God Bless that judge.
Get out the violins! For too long mexican nationals have had more rights in the courts than the American citizens they’ve killed.
Talk to any DA anywhere in the country and you’ll get an outpouring of stories about stupid obviously guilty defendants. Why should this one be any different?
I think his jail name will be cindy. Aside from that comment, he got what he earned. No loss.
I applaud the judge. If only all Americans had that much common sense. Of course, the MSM and liberals do not.
Joel Sanchez-Jacobo is the type of new American “citizen” that they love: illegal, self-centered, full of “self-esteem,” “multicultural,” thinks of himself as victim, is a predator of the community but still the victim, has no common sense, has no love of America, is a “world citizen,” refuses to learn English, has no loyalty, is a crybaby, is only able to relate to his ethnic group, etc.
By the way, Barack Hussein Obama constantly calls illegals “Americans” and wants to give them ALL free health care.
Nancy Pelosi, Juan McPanderer, and friends of “god’s children” might place Spanish books in our prisons now that this guy has demanded such. Maybe CAIR will deamand similar treatment, along with the foot baths. Unbucking felievable!
My gut reaction agrees with you on this
Legally, he was tried fairly. the jury selection process was one that was not questioned by his lawyers, and you know they would have done so had there been an issue. He was tried based on the evidence, and found guilty. Now HE is playing the race card and trying to drum up sympathy for his current situation.
Where is the sympathy for the victims of the crime and their families? Did this turd EVER stop to think about what he was doing before ending their lives?
I doubt it. He only considered that when it was HIS life in the balance.
Warm up the woodchipper.
LGM for once I agree. (I know, it was a shock for me as well) No pity for this low life.
Yet gang bangers get touching articles when they are killed. And yes, tony was in a gang and crossed somebody who then took out street justice. 2 Words, Jamiel’s Law.
Given the difference in his attitude between trial and sentencing, I’d say some one from either laraza or the aclu has taken his case.
And unless I’m mistaken, he’s in the 9th circus so he’ll probably get a new trial in a couple of years based on these very arguments.
Drop him off in Waziristan wearing a tee shirt with the Danish mobombahead cartoon on the front and “Jesus Rocks” on the back and call it a day.
Boo-freakin-woo hombre.
His constitutional rights? I don’t think so amigo. You said yourself, you are a Mexican national. You got no rights in this country pal. Now, take it like a man!
Exactly right, 30 pc of Silver (#10). Where does this guy get the nerve to demand his “rights”. What rights?
you’re absolutely right! WOOHOO!
this guy is all of that! stupid, and obviously guilty! Could it be you’re calling this right?
I doubt it. Sounds like a jab at the legal system for putting away another helpless and -obviously- duped “undocumented worker” by your book.
If i’m wrong though, please feel free to correct me
HHHMMMM if I was arrested in Mexico would they have a lawyer that speaks english or law books provided in english……I think NOT!
McAmnesty has not been elected yet. No rights for you!
How do you say Suck.It.Up in Spanish?
Looks like he’ll have plenty of time to learn English before he hits the law books. If books in Spanish are required to be in prisons, then what about all the other languages on the planet. I’m sure all those illegal immigrant Lithuanians dealing meth and hiring hit men are going to demand equal treatment.
Not in Multnomah County, they don’t. I’m frankly amazed that the jury there found him guilty, instead of giving him the key to the city of Portland and making him the Grand Marshal of next year’s Rose Festival.
Why does this man complain? He had his day in court, with the right to cross-examine witnesses, to call his own witnesses,to present evidence, to object, to . . .
It’s not as though he was tried in
ahis country where the Napoleonic Code is used.It is comforting to know that there is still at least one sane judge left here in Oregon.
I don’t know the whole story, but it sounds like this guy got through our unsecured borders, peddled a bunch of meth, whacked a couple of people, went through an expensive, American tax payer funded trial and now will be supported by the American tax payer funded jailhouse system until he dies.
So this guy costs us taxpayers one hell of a lot of dinero and it all could have been prevented with a secure border. And a couple of lives could have been saved to boot.
Who’s the dummy?
He’s 31. We’ll be housing and feeding him for another forty years.
Are we feeling smart because we caught him and prosecuted him, or stupid for letting him set foot here in the first place?
I wouldn’t get too excited about this. It hasn’t cleared the appeals courts yet.
I’m just shocked there was a sane judge left in Oregon.
For being a Mexican National he is not very MACHO. Did he have sensitivity training sponsored by LA RAZA?
What is Sanchez-Jacobo’s complaint, he now has room and board, health care, and clothing provided for life. Is there no satisfying these ingrates (woops, that should be inmates).
Please help, robbery in progress!!! Stop the bast@rd from stealing the money
The new Mumia
Maybe San Francisco can send a group of those “juvenile” drug runners up to Oregon to constitute a jury of his peers.
Multnomah County, OR = SF North. Enough said.
He is as stupid as the rest. He just feels more oppressed because of his minority status.
Um…what about the victims’ constitutional rights? What a farce…what in the hell does he have to complain about? He gets to keep his life and will be supported by the rest of us. Actually, it wouldn’t be that much different for him outside of prison, huh?!?
I too was amazed. Having lived in Oregon for several years, I concur with Regulus. Too bad we have to pay for this crap stain’s upkeep. He should have received the death penalty to save a few bucks.
Jorge Boosh pardon coming up in 3…2….
Remember Ramos and Compean!
(That means you, too, MM….)
Mexican prisons are famous for the way they try to accommodate the needs of their foreign guests. Law books in English? No problema!
Violins start playing and a Hollywacked movie writer makes a movie of the injustice.
STFU,Joel Sanchez-Jacobo you have just been tried by the American system of justice fairly and Impartialy you POS, now go sit your ass in prison and don’t piss off bubba.

From the Obamassiah, emphasis mine:
BARACK OBAMA: FIGHTING FOR COMPREHENSIVE
IMMIGRATION REFORM
“In approaching immigration reform, I believe that we must enact tough, practical reforms. We need stronger enforcement on the border and at the workplace. But for reform to work, we also must respond to what pulls people to America. Where we can reunite families, we should. Where we can bring in more foreign-born workers with the skills our economy needs, we should. The time to fix our broken immigration system is now. It is critical that as we embark on this enormous venture to update our immigration system, it is fully reflective of the powerful tradition of immigration in this country and fully reflective of our values and ideals.”
[Obama Statement in U.S. Senate, 5/23/07]
BARACK OBAMA: FIGHTING FOR THE LATINO COMMUNITY
Barack Obama has played a leading role in crafting comprehensive immigration reform. Obama believes the immigration issue has been exploited by politicians to divide the nation rather than find real solutions. This divisiveness has allowed the illegal immigration problem to worsen, with borders that are less secure than ever and an economy that depends on millions of workers living in the shadows. Obama believes that our broken immigration system can only be fixed by putting politics aside and offering a complete solution that secures our border, enforces our laws and reaffirms our heritage as a nation of immigrants.
Bring People Out of the Shadows: America has always been a nation of immigrants. There are millions of people living in the shadows who would like to fully embrace our values and become full members of our democracy. For the millions living here illegally but otherwise playing by the rules, we must encourage them to come out of hiding and get right with the law. Barack Obama supports a system that allows undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, learn English, not violate the law, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens.
Improve Our Immigration System: Every year, a million people enter the country legally and another 500,000-800,000 people come illegally or illegally overstay their visas. The overwhelming majority of immigrants, both legal and undocumented, come to this country with the hope that hard work and sacrifice will secure a better life for their children. Barack Obama believes we must fix the dysfunctional bureaucracy to balance the needs of American workers and the U.S. economy. He also realizes the need to increase the number of people we allow into the country legally to a level that keeps families together and meets the demand for jobs that employers cannot fill.
Obama joined Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) to introduce the Citizenship Promotion Act to ensure that immigration application fees are both reasonable and fair. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has decided to raise fees on applications to as much as $2,400 for a family of four. Obama’s bill reverses large fee increases for legal immigrants seeking to become citizens and provides grants to states to help promote citizenship. Another key choke point in the process to becoming a legal permanent resident or a U.S. citizen is the F.B.I. name/security check. Many law-abiding legal immigrants see their immigration applications delayed by months and often years as the overwhelmed F.B.I. completes their background checks. Obama introduced legislation that passed the Senate to improve the speed and accuracy of these background checks. In the most recent immigration debate on the U.S. Senate floor, Obama fought to improve and pass a comprehensive bill. Obama introduced amendments to put greater emphasis on keeping immigrant families together and to revisit a controversial new points system that never received a proper public hearing. Obama will continue to work for a comprehensive bill that fixes our broken immigration system.
Well, which is it?
Whoa!
I can’t believe I am about to say this but, lgm, I think you and I might agree on something. Wow!
You know, if we were truly culturally sensitive here in Los Estados Unidos (That’d be the United States for those of ya that don’t habla
) we would create some jails that resemble the ones in Mexico in which to house criminal illegal aliens. I don’t think the overhead would be too high on operating one.
Bill Grant, I expect that from Obama and Democrats. I don’t expect it from Republicans. Even the fake ones like McAmnesty.
Oh Yeah Bill, Juan Hernendez. Enough said.
Hey, maybe we could throw this guy in there with him?
new story, check it out
They could be saving it as grounds for an appeal to overturn the conviction. It happens.
Possible, Heather…I didn’t discount that in my assessment. Good catch
I’m just a little more aggressive than that. I’m not a lawyer, but i’d have drilled that from moment one. Saving it until now, after a conviction, doesnt sit well with me personally.
Then again, i want this scum to rot…so hopefully, they arent as aggressive as i am!

Oh Yeah John, unpaid volunteer nobody who has been used as a straw/bogey man to deflect from the real issue posted above. IE, Obama wants to legalize everyone here and allow anyone else to come in who has the notion to.
Somehow I doubt you genuinely feel that way.
McTax!!!
LOL Bill, you are right that Obama is worse than McAmnesty. A grant you that. But it’s our duty to pull McAmnesty back to reality. Amnesty is bad for the country and we can’t afford it. We need to enforce the laws that are already on the books. No Comprehensive Immigration reform. If you get McAmnesty to sign a petition that he will not grant amnesty (fines are not enough) then I’ll vote for the LOTE. Until then, no dispute, I’m writing in Newt.
10 will get you 20 that he’ll get off on appeal with a liberal judge of some sort that will agree with his reasoning. I’m sure that shortly thereafter we’ll be forced to provide legal libraries in all manner of foreign languages so that illegal aliens can defend themselves from our unjust legal system.
(vomit…)
I don’t mean to sound redundant if this has already been mentioned, but just out of curiosity…. since when did ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS get “Constitutional rights” provided for by our Bill of Rights?

Another member then! Man I am good…
You do realize that every time you write that I am going to quote him:
“As a citizen, I would rather have a President McCain that we fight with 20 percent of the time than a President Clinton or a President Obama who we fight with 90 percent of the time.” -Newt Gingrich
Meanwhile:
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama plans to spend some 20 million dollars on a nationwide campaign to gain the support of Hispanic voters, his campaign announced Tuesday. The money will serve to register and “mobilize” eligible Latino voters through television advertisements, internet outreach and visits by members of Congress to key constituencies around the country, the Obama campaign said.
The growing US Hispanic community could have a significant impact on the White House race this year, especially in some key battleground states that include Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado and Florida.
McAmnesty has the Obamasiah BEAT! McAmnesty has already held hands with the Theodore Kennedy to create a shamnisty bill to let them all become citizens to gain the support of Mexican voters, and THEN to let them all bring in their relatives.
Rob:
You do realize that there are Americans citizens who are of “Hispanic” or “Mexican” descent, don’t you? That means they are not Mexicans.
You are really obsessed.
Yes I am! I live among the heathens… and the drums are getting louder!
Sigh.
Rob, I understand your frustration and anger, but it’s unfair to lump illegals and legal American citizens together in this. You will alienate many people from this cause if you do so.
Well, sitting quietly and politically correctly while the invasion has occured has really worked well thus far… SIGH
I’m sure he’ll file many appeals and many comaplaints from jail. His appeals won’t stand a a snowball’s chance in, Wait, his appeal wouldn’t be heard by the 9th Circuit Court would it?
They would give him a new trial and insist the state provide law books in the language of cloice for all inmates…..
Books? We don’t need no stinkin’ books!
Did I say to do that? Quit sighing and go back and read.
Okay, let’s see if I can make love to all the people that you don’t want to offend. ANYBODY that embraces their culture over my culture should be kicked out of the USA.
There, that should stop any feelings of alienation.
el murdero of dos Yanquis is illegalo. You muerta, you will get el muerto from the el judgeo. Habla?**
**Change-1 to the Mexican government’s “Coming to America” comic book. Due out in October, just before the rush of new voters for the election.
Hey Rob, this offends me!
When the invaders from the South teach their anchor babies to act like that, then it’s time we fight back. It’s been building since that happened and we need to get ready for the full out assault.
John, imagine what would have happened in the old west if that happened… imagined what would have happened even 50 years ago.
I was talking to my father yesterday, and he said that he doesn’t think that the USA will make it much longer. That was a shock, we have been here a loooong time, but the American culture is going bye-bye, and I don’t think we have the balls to stop it…
Who is the real racists?
We need to kill the PC BS before it kills us. Check out the comments on this story. “Sandra” is taking it from all the Choleos but she’s right. Those Choleos should be in school if they are legal. IF they are illegal, deport them. Clean up our streets. Poor Tony….yeah right. Juan down millions to go.
That is the problem especially here in South Texas. We have so many illegals and they get here and think they are owed something. I think we should give them one thing – a one way ticket back. If you come here – speak ENGLISH!
