Best Amazon.com review of Nancy Pelosi’s book so far
Amazon.com reviewer Chaz Smith posts a review of Nancy the Navigator Pelosi’s new book, “Know Your Power,” currently ranked #450 despite a ton of fawning press coverage. Enjoy:
Doing her part to hasten Global Warming, July 29, 2008
By Chaz SmithThe democrat matron of global warming hysteria is doing her part to destroy the planet by writing an unnecessary book – to be made out of paper and ultimately tossed in a landfill?
Even if her publishers are using recycled paper, they are still using materials that could be used for a better purpose. The printing process and delivery of the book also squander valuable energy and resources that could go to better use.
So park your SUVs and turn off your air conditioners… Nancy needs the power to make profits from her book.
Anyone who buys this book should, out of deference for the planet, multipurpose the material and use it for toilet paper – preferably before they read it.

I prefer paper that hasn’t already been soiled.
LOL good call BackwoodsConservative
That, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call a burn. Kudos to the commenter.
And, to Nancy, I say: Keep it up. No better way to tick of the American public by doing all you can to keep gas and energy prices elevated. Keep going. Tick off more Americans. Then come crying to us in November.
This strong ranking of the book is to be expected from the leader of the “most ethical congress ever” with such high approval ratings!!
My question is: Will it replace the New York Times as the most popular liner for bird cages and house training for puppies?
Nope, the NY Times is more easily folded into the exact shape you need. Nancy’s book is more of a coffee table book. It will hold up the corner of the coffee table with the short leg.
I hope this person also does movie reviews: I know a certain Oliver Stone film about to makes its debut, that is sure to be deserving of such “praise.”
I’m still not sure she’s bright enough to even write a text…sounds like a ghost writer must have had to suffer the bilge. Then again, if she actually did write it, we should encourage her to write MORE books, like randomized statistical number tables or story books for pets. It just might save the country from the disaster she’s capable of wreaking on it as Speaker of the House.
It’s quite galling to think that she alone can “save the planet.” Voters should be more afraid of Congressional representation than the occupant of the Oval Office.
#5 mchristian.
Yes, then you can use that brick that you were using for that purpose for a door stop, instead.
Her book can also be used to start a campfire, since it’ll fit neatly into one’s backpack.
ROFL best post all week!
Botox Betty wrote a book, eh? Where does one find the time to write book and save the planet? Move over Lynda Carter, there’s a new
sheriffWonder woman in town.backwoods,
Good stuff!
She should use more time writing books and let someone else try to run the House. Then maybe she wouldn’t have a 14% approval rating. She will probably pass it out to all the illegals in San Francisco who can’t read English and tell the publishers she sold them to increase her sales numbers.
So what category is this book in? Fiction, Science Fiction, or Political nonScience?
The pages might also fit nicely in a small bird cage or make good tender to start a nice relaxing fire in the fireplace this winter. Of course, the NYT is the preferred publication for all such activities but I’ll try to give Queen Pelozi’s book comparable standing if I happen to find any thrown in amongst the trash.
BIG DITTO!
I’m guessing it’s a pop-up book with lots of pictures.
It ought to be with all those self-help pop psycology books that focus on self-esteem, finding your true self, empowerment etc… Or are those the textbooks being used in public schools today?
Read the book, it will open your eyes.
Yes, and get you to say “what kind of a fool pays for this type of trash?”
Pelosi saving the planet is much like having Al Gore in charge of the weather forcast. Hear that McSwish, number 895 in a class of 900.
I read yesterday that Nancy’s mommy wanted her to be a nun. Now that is funny. Nuncy Botoxi.
This pap from a House Speaker that’s making Denny Hasert look like Tip O’Neill.
Nancy thinks she is so hot because she is “saving” the planet….well big deal…I have decided that I am going to save the entire UNIVERSE….top that Nancy
No, I need the brick to bash myself in the head. I need to be convinced of AGW and that seems the most likely way.
You’ll need a universal remote to do that….click
And a sidekick with some bitchin’ tights and a cape. Me, me, me!
Kind of sad that the first woman Speaker of the House has been such a miserable failure. She has set women back a hundred years.
You could chuckle and laugh at the stupidity of the premise that “global warming” and “climate change” are caused by man if, the policies put in place by these idiots wasn’t hurting people and damaging to economies.
I heard the original transcript was proofread by Dumpster Muffin.
So, apparently, will botox, but I don’t want either one.
E-mailed my Congressman yesterday to ask him not to take a vacation until an energy bill passed. He AGREED with me, gasp, and asked me to let the Speaker know how I felt. So I did.
Call 202-225-0100 to make your feelings known to the Congresswoman.

I had my eyes opened about the stupid things people will buy with their hard earned money when thousand-plus dollar spinner wheels started showing up on automobiles that are worth less than my shirt.
Meanwhile Nancy and her office remain silent on why she is featured on the computers and hard drives of dead FARC terrorists.
C’mon Nancy Inquiring minds want to know…
I wonder if in her literary pursuits she ever read what the ancient prophet Ezekiel foresaw: Of future politicians, he said ” . . . with their mouth
they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.”
(Ezekiel 33:31) She certainly seems to fit.
I’ve got to be honest: In all seriousness, I am waiting for the day when the liberals ban all paper books. I can see them offering free Amazon Kindle’s to all the poor people!
“Anyone who buys this book should, out of deference for the planet, multipurpose the material and use it for toilet paper – preferably before they read it.”
192 pages…. that’s 192 trips to the bathroom, if we use Sheryl Crow standards…
Could be a better bargain than a roll of Charmin
I’d rather use cactus instead of anything pelosi has written down.
Really? We’re citing Amazon.com user comments as newsworthy? I haven’t read the book, so I’m not defending it, but I don’t know that customer reviews of books are the definitive voice on what is and isn’t worth reading. For example, this book got almost twice as many 1 star ratings as it did 5 star ratings (and far, far more 1 star ratings than anything in-between). Does this post imply that the (Amazon.com) customer is always right — including in this case?

I was just thinking that “toilet paper” would have been a better use for the paper wasted on this!
ROFLMAO
I hadn’t stopped to think about that, backwoods!
Earth to Nancy, Earth to Nancy, don’t do me any favors, I’m 4.5 billion years old. I’ve been here a lot longer than you and I’ll be here long after your gone, you need to start worrying about saving your own skin not mine.
The more illegal aliens Nan brings in to breed Dem-voting jackpot babies, the more minivans spewing forth carbon dioxide.
Talk about a fiefdom. Isn’t the Speaker of the House supposed to bring legislation to the floor that they people of America want? Here is what Dictator Pelosi said recently. From Politico:
With fewer than 20 legislative days before the new fiscal year begins Oct. 1, the entire appropriations process has largely ground to a halt because of the ham-handed fighting that followed Republican attempts to lift the moratorium on offshore oil and gas exploration. And after promising fairness and open debate, Pelosi has resorted to hard-nosed parliamentary devices that effectively bar any chance for Republicans to offer policy alternatives.
“I’m trying to save the planet; I’m trying to save the planet,” she says impatiently when questioned. “I will not have this debate trivialized by their excuse for their failed policy.”
“I respect the office that I hold,” she says. “And when you win the election, you win the majority, and what is the power of the speaker? To set the agenda, the power of recognition, and I am not giving the gavel away to anyone.”
Nancy Pelosi is the personification of The Peter Principle in Action!
I’m glad so many people appreciated my humor. That one was a balancing act. The post was too ripe with possibilities for going overboard.
I agree. She’s really a dumb dunce and since she has held her position I have yet to see one intelligent speech or public response on any matter. She never addresses the core issues when she gets in front of a camera and just lashes out at everyone else in politics in order to make her seem like a heroic “do gooder”. I think that she took her playbook from Al Gore and Jimmy Carter.
Instead… if she had been capable of crafting good legislation and responding to our troubles in America in an intelligent manner she might have one iota of credibility.
If women look up to here then those women who do might as well be set back 100 years. She’s not a fine example of anything except for an example of failure.
We need GOP commercials of Pelosi video saying she’s going to “save the planet” while the cost of gas and everything associated with it go way up. This is a prime example of a politician’s personal psychology (i.e. environment hysteria in this case) harming others. She has no energy solutions, only obstructionism based on an Al Gore extreme environmental outlook.
Conservatives have such strong family values. They hold fundraisers in strip joints, lie as a major campaign tactic, and make fun of anyone who openly says they want to do good.
As a conservative, i can say that i’ve never done those things.
Would you like to also list the democratic scandals from the last 2 years, or do we not have enough space to type?
Try something other than the equivalence argument. It must be so easy, to be so weak on subjects
That’s going to leave a mark.
It’s ok if people hold wacky personal beliefs, but if you’re in a position of great power, like the Speaker, and you want to “save the planet” so you block action on us getting the energy we need now, that’s irresponsible, you’re harming a lot of people. What a screwy system of govt we have, when every other country is doing what they can to help themselves, and we’re held hostage by some … ok, someone who acts like a full-blown conspiracy theorist left-wing loon, ok? It makes me wonder if we can make it as a country.
There’s enough idiocy to go around on all sides. But, as abstractmind points out…
Pelosi and the dhimmicrats don’t give a furry rats butt about solar, wind, or hydrogen powered cars. The only power they care about is their own.
Power to rule unfettered and impose their twisted ideologies on America and turn us into a third world country while they continue to live like the elitists they are. They already have their little piece of the American dream, and they will stop at nothing to make sure none of us ignorant peasants get ours.
The logic is diabolical. Keep the price of fuel as high as possible so we spend more of our money just trying to get by. They know that as long as we have disposable income we can pretty much do as we please. (as long as we act like adults of course.)
Disposable income is freedom. The more money you have to play, the happier you are. Some of us require less than others. (I personally am very low-maintainence)
They couldn’t get the oil execs, so now they’re going after the speculators. Stop the speculators, they say, and we can fix this. They even take credit for the recent price drops, because, they claim, just talking about stopping them has forced them to back down.
This is either the most evil, diabolical woman, (with apologies to the Hildebeast) I’ve ever seen or the dumbest. My money’s on evil and diabolical.
The Talon
You don’t know what is “good”, libtard guano machine. Your ability to discern, or should I say “discriminate” is seriously impaired.
You’re the perfect example of the diseased libtard.
I didn’t even know Pelousy put out a book.
Like others said, she is going to be seen as one of the dumbest women in political history.
Let that be your epitaph, you delusional moron.
I wondered when lgm would slither in. How many BHO lies do you want and the fact remains, he could have visited wounded troops but went out on the town instead. Lack of proof doesn’t make it a lie and Barry isn’t saying why. TPM, a real objective news source…snort
Like my daughter just said, ” Now we know what her family and friends will be getting for Christmas.”
Ya know, the old adage, “children should be seen and not heard” came about so that we would be spared being lectured by 20-something, loudmouth, know-nothing twits.
Not likely. I’ll go right off to sleep.
lgm,
Funny, that article you link doesn’t really tell me that McCain lied. It’d be hard to construe any other reason for Obama’s decision to reverse his plans to visit the troops after discovering he couldn’t stage a press event at the facility. . .
You also fail to note any of the major lies and historical innaccuracies stated, IN PUBLIC, by Obama during his Berlin speech. He’s the one lying as a major campaign tactic. The statement made by McCain about the wounded troop visit is in no way disproved by your article, and as such you cannot claim it is a lie.
And you want to talk strip clubs? Edwards whose wife has cancer, at a hotel with a mistress anyone? Eh lgm? Your high horse has gone lame.
The book will be in the goodie bags for the convention delegates.
Oh wait, it isn’t even something McCain personally said that’s at issue in that article. . .it’s something a spokesperson said. And the sources attacking that statement? What a surprise, WaPo and NYT. . .two of Obama’s head cheerleaders. Judging from their citations, they don’t have any more or less idea what Obama’s reasons were than Tucker would have. . . so their statements on the matter are no more credible than his.
alaska,
that was kinda the point. i feel its lost on some though
I’ve noticed little condemnation for demoncrap scandles from people on their side. When one of our own does something retarded, we call for them to step down and leave. Shows a difference in mentality and accountability.
For instance, take Spitzer. I wonder how many posts lgm and the like posted condemning his actions and calling for his removal.
I might be wrong (and accept correction)…but i dont remember any.
How about Edwards? Mostly mum on the subject, no?
I could go on ad nauseum…but thats the point. In their world view, its not so much about right and wrong, as long as someone else is doing the same thing. There’s no interest to remove and prevent the wrong…only an interest to make sure the books balance so that people can do what they want.
Its only wrong if someone does something they dont like. As long as they’re good with it, its not.
Yashmak said (#64):
It’s from a campaign ad that contained the words “I’m John McCain, and I approve this message.”
So when you provide proof that the reason Obama didn’t visit the wounded troops was something other than what Tucker said, then we’ll have something to talk about. Vague citations about ‘circumstances’ in WaPo and NYT don’t cut it, given their obvious preferential bias for McCain’s opponent.
Absolutely, which is why this blog’s biggest troll just did another dodge and weave and is sticking to his McCain is a liar strategy. I’d be willing buy him dinner of his choice and have it delivered to him if he could just for one day stay on topic and actually address the point in the threads he posts in rather than try to deflect with “but the Republicans are worse” or “it’s Booosh’s fault!”. But something tells me that expense will never have to be paid since the mental warp of Socialism and Marxism has taken over at lgm central.
#450 = FLOP
If San Fran Nan wanted anyone to read her book, she should’ve written about vampires or boy wizards instead.
I like McSellouts review of her job performance. SELLOUT
Link
I don’t think so. You see, that’s an English proverb dating back to the 15th century, back when the average life span was about 24 years old. Twenty-something would’ve been well into adulthood — and therefore, not the target audience of the quote. So, as per usual, you’re wrong again. But thanks for playing!
Oh — and the quotes I cited? They’re Amazon.com customer reviews (none of the words are mine. Sorry to confuse you). Exactly the same thing as this very post! Hope that clears it up for you…
Don’t you mean “hot, sparkly vampires?”
I’m heading to Amazon right now to mark that review as “helpful.” ^_^
You can do one thing well or many things with mediocrity. Nancy thinks she can do it all, but has she produced anything of value?
We are obviously not working our public servants hard enough. They seem to have time to run for president and write books on the job. Can’t they write their memoirs AFTER they leave office like people used to do?
Well Mr. Pelosi has over $500,000 in shares of Amazon.com, so a tip of the hat is necessary.
More stupidity from the queen in charge:
Is it me? Or is she really as dumb as she looks?
Plastic Grandma
Actually, the lifespan was about 35 years in the 15th century, roughly half of ours. And that adage has been continuously used throughout the centuries, up until the 20th century, as my parents would attest. If your parents (or should I say, parent?) had used the same wisdom, we would not have snotty, know-nothing 20 something year olds lecturing us on this board, because they would have known that they have not the experience, knowledge, or maturity to open their big mouths.
Yes, they were well into adulthood back then, unlike now. I would venture to say that the maturity level of a 20 something year old is about that of a ten year old’s back then. In the 17th century, 14 year old midshipmen could take command of a small naval vessel. Show me a 14 year old today who could shoulder that kind of responsibility.
I guess I proved you wrong, little miss twit. Good thing your mouth is big enough to accompany your foot.
whoops, should read: “accomodate” vice “accompany”.
speaking of reviews… atheling is not getting good ones over at Crooks and Liars
Hey, look at that. A blog TOS fits in at. Kuddos to you.
Wow. A badge of honor!
Nope. This is a nice try, but, let me refresh your memory of what you wrote:
That would be wrong, wouldn’t it? Because the phrase “came about” (I want to keep the wording the same because I seem to lose you when I don’t) long before 20 would’ve been considered at all youthful — or as a reference to “children” (again, I’ll stick with the same wording so you follow). So, as I stated before, you were wrong the first time. And wrong again when you claimed to be right! Because you’re always wrong. Thanks for making it official!
Oh, and TOS — thanks for pointing out the Crooks and Liars pull quote. Priceless!
Can’t, because no one would ever give a child that age the chance.
I find this has virtually nothing to do with the topic. . .but
To a certain degree, it’s a chicken vs. egg argument. Did we come to believe our children can’t handle responsibility first, or did they become unable to handle responsibility because we shielded them from it?
Hard to answer that one, as one can make a persuasive argument either way. . .no need to name call or be snippish over it.
nyk:
You prove my point. 20 something year olds of today possess the maturity of a ten year old in the 15th century.
And what is your point? I am noting a fact. 20 something year olds today are spoiled, immature, rude, ignorant, and irresponsible. Far more so than teenagers of previous centuries. I believe that it is society’s fault for spoiling their children rotten by putting the cart before the horse, i.e., teaching “self esteem” before they earn it. This is a generation that is given award and credit before it has been earned.
Look at nyk’s argument. She can’t debate logically. She argues like a 10 year old child. The fact that she supports a know nothing, affirmative action, clueless candidate confirms her inability to discern. Yet, I am willing to bet that she has a bloated ego because our politically correct society has created that monster.
Give a contemporary college student a test on American history which was given to a college student of the 19th century, and they will fail miserably. They are the most self congratulatory (”We are the ones we have been waiting for”), narcissistic, smug, and elitist twits to “grace” our planet. And for what reason? NOTHING. They have accomplished nothing. Indeed, they will have ruined civilization if we permit it.
re: TOS’s comment.
I have good reason to be suspicious.
Last autumn, David Horowitz and other conservatives who are concerned about the “creeping Sharia” on our college campuses sponsored a protest on campuses across the nation, where they had seminars informing students of the human rights violations committed by Islamists.
Guess what happened? At one university, some anonymous persons posted flyers advertising that protest, which were hate-filled, bigoted, and offensive, in an attempt to discredit those sponsoring the event, and make the participants appear as racist bigots. Later it was found out that those flyers were put up by LIBERAL STUDENTS, who used this subterfuge to discredit conservative students.
I put nothing past the libtards. They are the most unethical, dishonest, evil, and ignorant group of people of our era.
Wow. You are really angry that I proved you wrong. Jeez.
Which university? I’m curious.
Oh — and what a coincidence you mention Mr. Horowitz today. This morning, a friend of mine whose parents are both professors forwarded me an email about some Horowitz-related “Argus Project” being conducted on campuses. Apparently, it’s being forwarded from prof to prof, school to school. The same way one might share any joke.
First of all, most of the calls by liberals to do “good” often means delegating the work and financial burden to someone else while they take all the credit.
Second of all, several liberals lie all the time while campaigning, and I know you know this, LGM, because Mrs. Malkin and see-dubya have been talking about it for months on end, and you comment about it a lot.
Third, the reason why strip joints and the like support republicans are probably because many of them are small businesses, and the democrats, aside from labor unions, don’t care at all about business in general because they see it as an enemy to the environment.
Also, I know this hard for some liberals to understand, but raising taxes means LESS money to spend on commodities.
Big deal if it’s not ONLY people in good grace with the Lord who support the conservatives.
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, LGM, but it seems like you’re under the impression that only Christians with strong morals should be republican?!?! As if everyone else LIKES to pay higher taxes and have Congress blow the money away?
I think not!
aethling,
I’m sorry if you interpeted my post as trying to point a finger at you specifically.
I just don’t see what the squabble you and nyk are having has to do with the topic, and as such, why you two are even arguing in the first place.
Of course, come to think of it, this post doesn’t have anything to do with the topic either.
Exactly Yashmak. Atheling is a narcissistic and arrogant bigot full of hubris and anger. Smart and reasonable liberals such as nyk and chap engage in CIVIL and interesting debates with rational conservatives on this site (e.g., Regulus, abstractmind, you, etc.), but atheling feels some sort of unhinged need to attack anybody who disagrees with whatever it is that she believes in. She’s an embarrassment to conservatives everywhere and about 10% as smart as she thinks she is.
You forgot “sanctimonious”, Captain Dogcatcher.
You’re right you vacuous and childish buffoon. When speaking on subjects related to religion, you are indeed a sanctimonious clown. I’ve got to believe that you’re a DKos-type masquerading as a conservative in an effort to sabotage this site. There’s really no other explanation for the stuff you post.
A search of this very site reveals that it was George Washington University, in the beginning of Oct. 2007.
See: http://michellemalkin.com/2007/10/09/the-left-fakes-the-hate-at-gwu/
Is it any different than individuals looking for incidents of racism or sexism in the classroom? Why should I walk on eggshells with those issues in my lectures, yet feel free to inject my politics into a classroom (as long as they are liberal, of course)? Bear in mind: there are other Ward Churchills out there. Reactions by campus to conservative speakers and groups is antithetical to what a university is supposed to be, as is so called “political correctness.”
If this Argus project is such a “joke,” what are these professors so worried about?
You might want to look up the details of the tenure review process for one James D. Miller, Professor of Economics, at Smith College, Northampton, MA.
Alright, I did have to laugh at you fawning over those two liberals.
Let’s see dakine how well you hold a reasonable debate your last two posts instead of being an lgm/nyk clone:
Ad Hominem
Ad Hominem
Ad Hominem
Ad Hominem
Ad Hominem
Ad Hominem
Ad Hominem
Wow, you really fooled me into thinking you had the moral high ground. /sarc Maybe nyk did have the right idea with ending it snarky like since it fits you so well here.
First off — atheling is woman? All kidding aside, I was startled to hear this. I just get a hyper-masculine vibe from her posts. Thanks for letting me know.
And yes, I totally agree with every word of the above. There are people here who can have genuine discussions about political difference, and then there’s the folks like atheling, who seems to absolutely lose it and go into name-calling, chest-thumping mode at the drop of a hat. I’d like to not follow her down to the very bottom at those moments, but she’s so darn reactionary.
Jeez. I still can’t believe atheling is a she.
They aren’t worried. It genuinely is being circulated as a joke, and that’s how it was sent me. All kidding (and snarkiness) aside, it honestly isn’t an email being circulated out of concern.
Hypocrisy much
That’s the pot calling the kettle black.
Hi kettle, how are you this morning?
