Over at the New York Times, Nicholas Kristof lambasted Israel for “not negotiating enthusastically with Syria on the basis of the Saudi pace plan”. This was even incredible coming from Kristof. Kristof ignored the history of the failed 2000 talks between Israel and Syria and Clinton. Barak tried to give away the Golan Heights and Assad Sr. said give it all back to me and then I will give you nothing in return. Only Kristof is completely trusting in Assad Jr. Then Kristof said negotiations must be on the basis of “the Saudi peace plan”. How is that? According to Kristof, the Saudis get to call the shots. Their peace plan, in which Israel goes back to the 1948 armistice lines in return for a cold peace and a Hamas state, is a treaty only Kristof and his hero Neville Chamberlain could love. Kristof scoffed at the idea that Israel should fight terrorism. Kristof said that the real alternative was to withdraw from all “Arab lands” and to remove the security barrier. Kristof said this worked in Gaza and it could work everywhere else. Kristof based all of this on a two day trip to Gaza and the West Bank where he said Israel caused any acts of terrorism (or “resistance” as he would call it).

I just hope his replacement is a hardliner who will not let anything else happen and will take care of Iran the first chance they have. There is no excuse for letting your people fall under rocket and mortar attacks all the time.

Olmert should have left long ago, so this is not great news. It is good news, however, as good as we can hope to get these days and for that I am grateful.

Be sure to take a side trip to Golan and visit the winery there. Their Reisling is awesome, and they won a Gold for their Chardonnay. It’s really a beautiful area.

John, I agree, except that I came to understand the importance of the Jewish burial customs. The next time there’s another terror attack in Israel (and trust me, there will be one), notice on the TV coverage how the Jews with the funny hat and curls on the side of their head [Hasidic Jews] are on the site. They carefully collect all the body parts, and soak up the blood with paper towels. If you know your Bible, remember when Jesus invited the man to join him as an apostle. The man replied, (paraphrased) “Can I bury my father first?”, Jesus acceded as he knew the custom. First you lay out the body in a tomb, as they did Jesus, then you wait until nature takes it’s course, i.e., the body decomposes to only bones. The bones are then collected, and buried in a box. On Temple Mount, there are burial boxes that go many layers down.

Anyone who would consider giving up the Golan Heights to get the opportunity to talk one-on-one to the corrupt dictator of Syria does not deserve to be the leader of that great country. I spent two weeks in Israel last month. The Golan Heights provides 2/3 of their WATER, not to mention a Gold Medal winning winery! It’s gorgeous, and I wouldn’t hesitate to live there…except I love America too much. Maybe a vacation home???? Oh yeah, I have no Jewish blood.

This is fabulous news. I am taking my first trip to Israel next week, and I am attending a wedding. This is the best present the groom could ask for.

Things have gotten so bad under Olmert that Jews are fleeing Israel for a better quality of life in Germany!

Now I pray that when Bibi Netanyahu takes over, he will have learned form his mistakes the first time.

He ran as a hardliner and immediately became a pragmatist.

That quality among conservatives is as awful in Israel as it is in America.

Run Bibi. Run, and win. Then govern as the hardliner you say you are.

Today is a day for celebration.
