Ted Stevens: Hurry up with the trial so I can get re-elected pork king again

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 31, 2008 02:39 PM

Some people just don’t know when to quit.

Sheesh:

Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges he lied about accepting more than a quarter of a million dollars worth of gifts. He asked for a trial before he stands for re-election in November…

…Stevens’ legal team asked the judge to move the trial to Alaska, where the senator has been a political patron since before statehood. Attorney Sullivan also asked that the trial date be speeded up to give Stevens his day in court before the Nov. 4 election.

Man, that’d be great. After we grant his request to relocate his trial to Alaska, perhaps Senator Stevens would like to hand-pick his jury too.

Well maybe a little earlier, 40 years of graft is a lot to go through. If they start tomorrow, the trial will still be going on election day.

The problem with RINOs is that not only do they think of themselves as democrats but they expected to be treated the same. Big mistake. The best thing that Stevens, Craig, and dare I say McCain? could do is leave the party. They’re going anyway — might as well get it over with.

Hopefully this trial will be like his infamous “bridge to nowhere” and move slowly and never finish. Let’s just say this is a self-imposed term limit. It’s time for new blood in AK, and Congress overall. Vote against the 9-14% approved incumbents. They clearly aren’t getting it done. Impose voter term limits on the rest of the entitled Congress.

(and lgm, how about Culture of Obstructionism? Just as corrupt denying the will of the American people…Glass houses, my friend)

Soap, I don’t think statistical analysis is Mr. Sensitive’s strong suit. Either are ratios.

I would like Mathman to explain why this very same Congress demeans a man like Coburn who delivered healthy babies gratis. How much did his swampmaster San Fran Nan accomplish in her “golden era” of leadership?

This is why corruption exists and term limits need to be part of the frame work to root out all the bad apples. When someone, like Mathman, pretends that corruption exists on one side, then the people’s will will never get done.

    Gonna need some sources there..

I would point out (with the numbers), as i’ve shown you before, about the number of just sex scandals..

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_scandals_of_the_United_States#Sex_scandals

Notice the following, LGM, and take it to heart:

The list comprised of “top sex scandals”…yeah, its 9 out of 10 democrats.

If you also scroll down the remainder of the list, you’ll notice that your claim is complete crap, as democrat scandals outnumber republica. I would be willing to stretch a bit and say outside of just sex scandals, that the trend is the same.

See what happens when you stick to the facts? You dont look like a complete moron :)

    Where’s your Obamessiah now?

The Republicans lost control of Congress thanks to hogs like Stevens. It was bad enough that everybody knew what Stevens was up to for years and everybody looked the other way. Duke Cuningham was another classic example. When the Republicans made the lethargic Denny Hastert the speaker, I knew that the liberal Dems would get back control soon enough. The Republicans had the change to have Steve Largent, who would have made a great presidential candidate after a few terms of speaker but they would not allow him to have any position of leadership because he was not part of the gravy machine. THe Republicans also were so into the free tickets, free trips lifestyle that people like JC Watts got sick of it and left Congress. We got stuck with guys like Behner and Blunt who see themselves as part of the permanent Washington, D.C. K Street permanent government.

Anyone surprised? Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t this the “bridge to nowhere” guy? All of the pols have their snout in the trough these days. A red flag to anyone paying attention. Just a sign of the end of our days as the reigning super power. I refer again to the Scottish professor (quoted by others here) who said “democracy can not stand as a permanent form of gov’t…”. Fiscal irresponsiblity abounds in our gov’t today. They spend $ like it is monopoly $. Our financial system is bound to collapse without radical changes. Unfortunately, that means everything my wife and I worked for will go down the drain with these greedy pigs when the currency and financial system collapses. The hardest hit by the fiasco our pols created will be those of us who worked and SAVED to make a better life for ourselves and our children (ie the thrifty). ARRGGHHHHH!!!
