I have reached the point where I don't care whether or not they are Democrat or Republican. I have had enough of the cronyism, bribery and corruption. (who gives a diddly-squat who it is?) I will not vote for any incumbent and am supporting grass roots efforts for term limits. Enough is enough!

<blockquote>Are you kidding? My kids iPods hold more mp3’s than that. Just FYI, 500 gigs is about $100 at Fry’s Electronics….</blockquote>

Video streaming, music files, graphics and high resolution photos do eat up alot of bytes. I don't think his gifts came in the form of music files. But Word Documents...not at all. A standard Word Document, even legal, is about 50 KBs. 50 Kbs into ONE gigabyte? Now 500 X that....

So he has even more in common with Ted Kennedy than just his first name?

Prosecutors said they had nearly 500 gigabytes of evidence…

SAY WHAT? That’s enough information to choke the Library of Congress</blockquote>

Actually, it's probably just image scans of documents. Pretty standard when you need to capture any extra things like handwritten notes.

Anyone surprised? Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this the "bridge to nowhere" guy? All of the pols have their snout in the trough these days. A red flag to anyone paying attention. Just a sign of the end of our days as the reigning super power. I refer again to the Scottish professor (quoted by others here) who said "democracy can not stand as a permanent form of gov't...". Fiscal irresponsiblity abounds in our gov't today. They spend $ like it is monopoly $. Our financial system is bound to collapse without radical changes. Unfortunately, that means everything my wife and I worked for will go down the drain with these greedy pigs when the currency and financial system collapses. The hardest hit by the fiasco our pols created will be those of us who worked and SAVED to make a better life for ourselves and our children (ie the thrifty). ARRGGHHHHH!!!

The Republicans lost control of Congress thanks to hogs like Stevens. It was bad enough that everybody knew what Stevens was up to for years and everybody looked the other way. Duke Cuningham was another classic example. When the Republicans made the lethargic Denny Hastert the speaker, I knew that the liberal Dems would get back control soon enough. The Republicans had the change to have Steve Largent, who would have made a great presidential candidate after a few terms of speaker but they would not allow him to have any position of leadership because he was not part of the gravy machine. THe Republicans also were so into the free tickets, free trips lifestyle that people like JC Watts got sick of it and left Congress. We got stuck with guys like Behner and Blunt who see themselves as part of the permanent Washington, D.C. K Street permanent government.

Minor correction..
"Stevens’ legal team asked the judge to move the trial to Alaska, where the senator has <strike>been a political patron since before statehood</strike> already got the judges in his back pocket."
That's more like it.
