Rush Limbaugh: 20 years of excellence in broadcasting

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 1, 2008 11:51 AM

Today marks the 20th anniversary of Rush Limbaugh’s talk radio career.

Huzzahs, hooahs, and congrats!

Be sure to tune it at high noon and check out the festivities at RL’s website, including a special message from Vice President Cheney. (Update – Nice: President Bush and Gov. Jeb Bush, along with former President George H.W. Bush, call in to congratulate Rush.)

If Rush were a lib, he’d be feted endlessly by what he has deliciously dubbed the “drive-by media.”

There would be profiles gloating over the pathetic performance of Air America and contrasting liberal radio failures with the amazing longevity of EIB.

There would be retrospectives that spotlighted Rush’s visit to Afghanistan and his charitable work for the troops, his victory over Dingy Harry Reid’s Crush Rush campaign, and the censorious Left’s attempts to kick Rush’s massively popular show off Armed Forces Radio.

Instead, there will be radio silence by the green-eyed media brigade–and a retread of unhinged accusations from the nutroots that Rush Limbaugh’s exercise of the First Amendment is an incitement to violence and “smear“-mongering. Plus the usual declarations of premature death.

He’s been there, done that. Seen it all and battled leftist foes with trademark humor, incisiveness, boundless energy, and unparalleled rhetorical gifts that get short shrift by the drive-bys.

Here’s to the next 20 years of excellence in conservative broadcasting.

Tributes galore here.

Someday, I’d like to hear what this “schoolyard” thing with you was all about.

‘Till then, I’ll add your inner child to my list.

    -Peace, bro.

    Inner child? What inner child?

    You mean outer child.

Folks, this is how it always works with Bush and friends: Conservatives get the rhetoric (“Well, gosh and gollies, Bush sent a note to Rush. Ain’t that just peachy!”), and Liberals get the action (300 billion dollar housing screw-up bailout). Quite a difference, or am I missing something?

Why do so many of us continue to fall for it? [Shaking head sadly.]

off topic bro but you asked the question, so I would hazard to guess…”yes you are obviously missing alot, and like hussein it appears most of it is between your ears.”

    beenapear then says:
Why do so many of us continue to fall for it? [Shaking head sadly.]

maybe for the same reason liberals have supported failed social welfare programs for the last 40 years…ring a bell?

I have been a fan of Rush since I discovered him in 1991. Sorry I missed his first three years.

Rush you just get better every year, keep up the fine work. And don’t give those liberals an inch to wiggle in.

I started listening to Rush in 1989, I continued to listen to “argue” with him, until I realized I was a closet conservative!

Thanks, Rush, setting me on the right path. What did it for me was to correct the impression that Dumocraps were to thank for civil rights legislation. I didn’t believe him when he said Republicans had been pushing for black voting rights, until I checked it out for myself. They’d proposed legislation way back in the early 1800′s! It was poetic justice that a man, LBJ, who had voted against it for 2 decades in the Senate had to sign the bill into law.

I’ve been listening to you for 19 of your 20 years Rush, and eagerly await your show daily! As a 24/7 member, I can make up any time I may missed over the weekend!

Give us at least another 20, you loveable little fuzzball! May God continue to bless you, Rush!

I spoke well of Obama and people here called me all kinds of schoolyard names for days.

I haven’t seen any. I think maybe you’re having another “liberal moment” where you see constructive criticism as insults.

So, I guess you can stop playing the victim, LGM.
