You reap what you sow. China has cracked down hard on its minority and ethnic groups for years. Now, these groups see an opportunity and are rising up.

I agree with swmbo. China will never be our friends. They’ve been completely useless (as has Russia) when it has come to dealing with North Korea and Iran. Whenever they make some geopolitical decision it is only to benefit themselves, not the world.

This is why I have problems with China hosting the Olympics and Americans sucking up the coverage. It’s a big PR stunt to convince the rest of the world that they’re our “friends” while they thoroughly dismantle our manufacturing base, steal our intellectual/military secrets, and build up their military.

Liberals complain about environmental policy in the US… they need to take a look at China and see how worse it is when a country has only contempt for both its environment and the people who have to live in its polluted confines.

I wonder what sort of interrogation techniques the Chinese police are allowed to use to question these two “suspects”? As Communists and members in good standing of the vast left wing conspiracy, I’m sure they’ll be more than careful not to violate any of their civil rights.

To both China and Russia, Muslim terrorists are the enemies of their enemies (i.e. America), and are thus cherished beyond measure. As long as terrorists are a bigger problem to us than to them (and they are), nothing will change. China and Russia think in terms of power politics and nothing else — unlike our government which thinks the whole world will love us as soon as we disarm.

When there are mushroom clouds over Beijing and Moscow they might ally themselves with us against global Jihad, but that is it. And it would be be back to business as usual as soon as the war was concluded, successfully one hopes.
