Speaking of failure, here’s the do-nothing strategy:
California Democrat Nancy Pelosi may be trying to save the planet — but the rank and file in her party increasingly are just trying to save their political hides when it comes to gas prices as Republicans apply more and more rhetorical muscle.
But what looks like intraparty tension on the surface is part of an intentional strategy in which Pelosi takes the heat on energy policy, while behind the scenes she’s encouraging vulnerable Democrats to express their independence if it helps them politically, according to Democratic aides on and off Capitol Hill.
Pelosi’s gambit rests on one big assumption: that Democrats will own Washington after the election and will be able to craft a sweeping energy policy that is heavy on conservation and fuel alternatives while allowing for some new oil drilling. Democrats see no need to make major concessions on energy policy with a party poised to lose seats in both chambers in just three months — even if recess-averse Republicans continue to pound away on the issue.

I suppose that she and Reid are banking on owning all three houses; and, that they will then control energy and dole it out as they see fit. This means, that we will live like a third world nation while they parade around in their limos and lear jets. It is time to let her know that we are not going to stand for this. We need to march on the Capitol steps and not leave until she allows a vote!!
What would she do if millions marched on Washington demanding her to drill here and drill now? I foresee a terrible Socialist Regime mandated if Obama wins and Dems retain control of both houses. So I had to look it up myself to see if he actually said it. At hand are the demonstrably destructive actions of our Los Angeles City council. They are busy working on banning fast food restaurants in poor parts of Los Angeles because, well, they are fat and it’s not their fault. It’s the restaurants that make them fat. If that’s not enough, we have the L.A. city council working on a plan to tax plastic bags at a tune of ten cents a pop.
Don’t worry about the link above and the death of Edward Satterstrom, whom I will call Jameil Shaw #2 (no disrespect intended to the Satterstrom family, it’s just that Edward was second in line to die the same death as Jamiel.) It’s very similar to Jamiel’s murder. We have a football player (same team as Jamiel with the same coach) and he was gunned down by a latino (small cap on purpose) gang banger named David Aranda Hernandez. It’s not known if Hernandez is an illegal invader like Jamiel’s killer (remember, cops and reporters have this “don’t ask don’t tell” policy with the illegals.) but it is known that he’s a gang member.
Back to the plastic bag tax. Do you know that “the community has a responsibility to save the planet? THINGS LIKE THIS CAN WAIT!!!!! Who has the time to bother with a slain deputy? I mean after all, it was his duty to watch over the Mexican Mafia Gang while they served out their prison terms or awaited trial. He should have known better than to take that job. AND THIS POOR LITTLE NINE YEAR OLD GIRL WAS JUST “IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME. Can you believe they want to impose a ten cent tax on every plastic bag? That will add up, especially if you double bag for the heavier items.
I WONDER IF DANIELLE BOLOGNA DOUBLE BAGS! It will be hard on her now that she doesn’t have her husband and two sons around to help. Ten cents a pop for the plastic bags is outrageous. Sure, they can take away the fast food “joints” in the poorer areas of Los Angeles, that doesn’t bother me. If you’re lucky enough to live driving through those areas you had better thank the stars and not waste that luck on getting fat.
JAMIEL’S LAW IS WAITING FOR A VOTE but they have to get this damn plastic bag thing passed first. You know, the planet is in peril and we need to act now before we’re all dead. Gangs can wait. They only kill us one, maybe two, even three or four at a time. Global warming is going to kill all of us at the exact same time, so we better work on passing that ten cent tax on those damn plastic bags.

Pelosi’s right. And, to polokfla, what we’re doing wrong is not demanding better from the Republican party than John McCain. We should have overthrown the cronies years ago and worked harder to affirm the fresh young lawmakers (JC Watts, Rick Santorum, to name two examples).
Washington is broken, and the GOP is as much to blame for throwing the babies out with the bathwater as are the old cronies on the left.
