Outstanding: fugitive Al-Qaeda fixer/microbiologist Aafia Siddiqi caught, shot, extradited
This is great news. Like the still-at-large Adnan al-Shukrijumah, Aafia al-Siddiqui is a very, very dangerous Al-Qaeda fugitive who has been on the run since 2003.
Michelle’s been following her exploits for a while now, and to get an idea of why, you simply have to watch this Vent from July 2006 that lays out the web of conspirators plotting to blow up gas stations around Baltimore–a group that included Adam Gadahn and Ayman al Faris.
But Aafia finally turned up, in Afghanistan, where her behavior raised a few eyebrows:
Siddiqui, 36, initially was stopped by Afghan police on July 17 outside a government building. The police searched her handbag and discovered documents giving recipes for explosives and chemical weapons and describing “various landmarks in the United States, including New York City,” according to a criminal complaint, which didn’t identify the landmarks.
Siddiqui also was carrying “chemical substances in gel and liquid form that were sealed in bottles and glass jars,” the complaint added.
The next day, as a team of FBI agents and U.S. military officers prepared to question her, Siddiqui grabbed a rifle, pointed it at an Army captain and yelled that she wanted blood, prosecutors said. An interpreter pushed the rifle aside as she fired two shots, which missed, they said. One of two shots fired by a soldier in response hit her in the torso.
Even after being hit, Siddiqui struggled and shouted in English “that she wanted to kill Americans” before the officers subdued her, the complaint said.
She’s been extradited back to Manhattan, but just you watch–by the time the ACLU and the Center for Constitutional Rights get through with her, she’s going to be portrayed as a hero, healing illnesses in Afghanistan like some sort of Muslim Mother Teresa.
Until then, let’s just be glad she’s back in custody.
___________
MORE: See, I’ve always thought a 9mm lacked stopping power. Case in point:
The day after her arrest by Afghani authorities on July 17th, Siddiqui was shot twice in the torso, US officials said, when she grabbed a US soldier’s M-4 Carbine and attempted to shoot another officer as a team of US soldiers and FBI agents prepared to question her. A US interpreter threw off her aim when he pushed the gun. She then was shot twice with a .9 millimeter [SIC] handgun, authorities said. According to the US Government, despite her wounds, she shouted that she “wanted to kill Americans,” and struggled with her captors before they subdued her.
________________
MORE: From the NY Times, she married the boss’s nephew:
The government said that Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, known as Ammar al-Baluchi, a nephew of Mr. [Khaled Sheikh] Mohammed’s, ordered Ms. Siddiqui to help get Mr. Khan’s paperwork. The statement said Mr. Baluchi and Ms. Siddiqui married shortly before his capture.

I get the picture of that little girl, the 3 year old shown on the web recently spewing hatred and vitriol for Jews and the west, just as she’d been taught from birth. You know that this woman had similar training. Until medrassas are closed, and the training of the children of Islam is changed, we can expect that our children and grandchildren will be fighting this fight. Look at history. It’s a war we’ve been in for a thousand years. What a waste of humanity!
Seems pretty straightforward to me. However, liberals will interpret this statement as being reflective of how we’ve wronged her in the past…it has to stem from something Americans have done. These people want us dead and that includes their liberal apologists, too. The reason for it matters very little to me. I don’t wish to understand them… I want them eliminated.
see-dub,
you’re looking at this all wrong…because she survived her injuries, that means we have chances to shoot her again! And again, and again, and again….depending on the aim of the shooter.
Glad she’s in custody. Lets get her into a court room to answer for her crimes.
The soldier needs to learn to aim better. Two to the chest and one to the head. Then we will be rid of these scumbags. If not, we will be fighting them here.
I think we ALL agree that a ‘point nine millimeter’ bullet would lack stopping power
.
I suppose the American Communist Lawyers Union is already preparing to defend her.
As for the Couragous Soldiers who captured her, a 12 gauge shotgun is much better at close range than any 9mm.
I agree. Why wasn’t she just killed outright? Or at least tortured in Afghanistan before being killed? She deserves it.
Now we are going to have to pay hundreds of thousands of our tax dollars to give her a trial and to pay for this termagant’s “rights.”
We need to stop treating foreigners who hate Americans with such benevolence. She should have been killed. . .or at least tortured in order extract valuable information before being killed. If she hates America and Western Civilization, she does not deserve the privileges of Western Civilization. To give them to her will only make her hate us more. She should have been tortured, shamed, and then shot for wanting to kill American civilians.
We probably had her and just let her go so we could capture her again and shoot her in the process. It’s a new sport, like beach volleyball.
You guys are wicked hardcore.
You are one sick puppy! BTW, that is a waste of perfectly good bullets.
Aaffia Siddigi sounds like a dream come true for Tennnessee Tyson as a production manager. Another graduate of MIT and no less than a Phd. from Brandeis Univeresity. Your education dollar at work.
On August 5th, 2008 at 8:53 am, 30 pcs of silver
You guys are wicked hardcore.
But, isn’t that what you love about us?:)
dum-dums, anyone?
Adam Gadahn, I would be asking her about his where abouts. This guy needs to go join his friends in Colorado lock down. When he is dealt with, then we will know we are circling in on the two bearded stooges, left standing in a cave somewhere.
I’m not hardcore…..
LOL
It’s obvious to me (of course only basing this on what’s been reported) that this poor misunderstander of Islam (it being a religion of peace, so we’re told) is without doubt a member of a military organization which has declared war against the USA. And further, that she was captured participating evidently choosing not to wear a proper uniform, and also with incriminating documentation. Certainly seems to me that she has chosen not to abide by the rules of the Geneva Convention.
I do believe that we hung Major John André in 1780 for similar offenses. And if that brave soldier was deserving of such a fate, and it was proper enough for General Washington to order it so…
What are we waiting for? Get the trial over with. And just as we dealt with pirates of old, Hang ‘em from the yardarm!
You got me there!
Ah… wicked, yes?
Bad aim. Hollow points?
…9mm, 10mm, what ever it takes.
Second round missed kill zone. The shooter’s knuckle was busted after the first round and the pain was just too much.
Amazing. This woman is a top terrorist but she is acting suspicious with a purse full of bomb making documents and carrying munitions.
But then to read that as our FBI prepares to question a known terrorist, she can grab a rifle and get off shots and then she “struggled”?? I’m afraid I am not impressed with the FBI much either.
Now that she’s been shot, caught, and extradited, let’s complete the cycle and shoot her again.
The woman will be a font of information. The FBI, et.al, should be able to get Aafia Siddiqi to talk, otherwise there was no point in the live capture, and no point in keeping her alive either.
There, is that hardcore enough for you?
Absolutely!
Of course we don’t want her killed—-even if she speaks freely & we’re able to extract vital information from her without a fuss, I say waterboard her for the fun of it. Rub her with lard first.
The Geneva Convention prohibits our forces from using hollow-point ammo. FMJ all the way, to comply with the convention.
It does appear that we, as a nation, lack the will to win a war against committed people like Siddiqi. The soldiers are brave and well-trained, and I have no problem with the rules of engagement, but it does seem too bad that she will probably not be executed for her violations of the Geneva Convention. Like cops who see the same perps on the street over and over again because of juridical neglect, our soldiers must often be frustrated by their lack of support on the Home Front.
LOL!
I suppose our poor soldier was being sensitive and culturally correct, to the point where she could grab his gun. Let the military be the military! If we need a social worker, we can call one in later.
Now, let’s see if torture works!
A hanging here, a hanging there and soon you reduce the ranks. And I do mean HANGING. And if you don’t reduce the ranks you still have dead mohammedans hanging around. Shooting the goat humpers is just too sanitary.
If that is true I am not sure. I am sure we get tired of a half war, a ‘humane war’ just real fast. Fifty thousand causalties on Okinawa
and the cry was “ON to Tokyo!” During the horrible carnage of the Battle of the Bulge there was no quitting. But we went to FIGHT AND WIN those battles. The Light at the End of the Tunnel should be napalm and such. Let Syria and Iran KNOW we won’t worry about collatral damage. Shooting back nothing, shoot first.
The Eurotrash and American Left would be upset? They always are so what is the problem? Pretend they are Al-Qaeda fugitives, A hanging here, a hanging there and soon…
I am rather sure that if he wanted the lady goat humper dead she would be. A gut shot hurts like Hell, and for a long time. I believe Aafia al-Siddiqui is a Bag Lady Goat Humper from now on (o;

I wonder whether this Fox report is as accurate as the one last week about a KFC opening in Fallujah, which turned out to be completely bogus.
That soldier needs to spend more time at the range. A 9mm, even if the round was hollow point, at the ranges described if aimed properly at center mass or that neat blob slightly higher than center mass should have at least been a severe wound if not fatal. Save us taxpayers and the AntiAmerican Communist Liberal Union some dough and do the job right the first time.
Oh and the FBI, no shocker there, dropped the ball. The fact that she is a known wanted terrorist who was caught with bomb making materials and documents on US landmarks should have been a no brainer and she should never have been able to get near that soldiers M4 nevermind actually get 2 shots off with it.
What’s wrong with taking no prisoners? We can get plenty of useful information from those people these scumbags have terrorized that we have either liberated or who have escaped from their clutches.
Swoop and poop from the libtard, way to stay on topic troll chief.
Why are we bringing her here? Isn’t there someplace in Afghanistan that we can interrogate her? How about Gitmo? Oh wait, The Supremes think those people need constitutional protections (like U.S. citizens, illegal immegrants etc) and Barack wants to let them all go. How ’bout Iraq? Any open cells in Abu Ghraib?
This woman needs to be squeezed for info, but not where she can be given access to the ACLU.
A few waterboarding sessions, and drop her off in the center of Gaza with her hair and face exposed, wearing stretch pants and a Jesus Rocks/Mohammed sucks T-shirt (with a picture of GW on the back). After being gang raped she’ll be stoned to death for insulting muslims.
That way it will be muslims that kill her (according to sharia law) and so she won’t up a martyr. Still a symbol of the left, but at least not a martyr to muslims the world over.
If political correctness & fear of being accused of “excessive force” weren’t so rampant in most governments, she would have been shot with a .45 ACP.
We’d probably be reading about her in “past tense” terms, & I guarantee there would have been no mouthing off after..
A 9mm is definitely a really weak round overall. That’s why so many police are going over .40 & .45s.
~Dan Lee
Maybe Yahoo News is more to the libtard’s liking.
When you can point out what the KFC story has to do with catching this woman…get back to me.
Seriously, I know you’ve got the attention span of a gold fish, but try to stay on topic at least once.
abstractmind, I believe I distracted lgm by mentioning ‘lard’ in #25. Naturally, his mind went to KFC. Well, I don’t know how natural that is…

# 26 I agree–
The Geneva Convention does not apply to un-uniformed combatants>>>>>
…WHO REFUSE TO SIGN IT!!!
I have an idea. How about a little water in her nose.
Political Correctness has been waterboarded up our noses for so long, we no longer know right from wrong.
It is wrong to kill innocent people, it is NOT wrong to kill people who try to kill us.
We are allowed to defend ourselves against animals who’s only goal is to destroy us. And if we don’t find the will soon, they will succeed.
Is there a veteran here who might explain how she could have grabbed a soldier’s carbine? What is the procedure for being a guard at an intelligence facility?
We really need to institute remedial firearms training, two shots and both missed her head … sigh.
Shoulda sent the b-word to hell. There’s no ACLU or Commie lawyer or suicidal MSM to help you when facing judgment from the Man Upstairs.
Never been on guard at an intelligence facility but there are just plain common sense things you do with a detained suspect. Here’s the account from the DoJ via Yahoo:
The Afghans detained her for suspicious (umm duh) bomb making equipment and instructions. But they only confined her to a room unshackled or handcuffed that had a curtain in it apparently in which she hid behind.
And here is where the FBI and US military who went to question her screwed up. They should have made sure in advance she was not only “detained” but properly detained since she was a terrorist suspect. Someone made an assumption and screwed up. It nearly cost that Captain his life.
So apparently the warrant officer came in and sat down and placed his rifle on the floor that happened to be by the curtain the suspect was hiding behind. Too many unanswered questions as to if the FBI and warrant officer expected her to be in the room already or if they thought the Afghans were going to bring her to a room in handcuffs and assumed the room was secure. They assumed wrong and she grabbed the rifle by her feet and if not for the interpreter pushing the barrel out of the way the Captain in this event would most likely be dead. And the warrant officer obviously needs more practice with the 9mm.
Shot her once in the torso then saved her life then shipped her to the US. And here we are now, hopefully the government picks back up the ball and adds more charges for her previous terrorist activities here in the US and for having bomb making materials in Afghan on top of the attempted murder charges for the military personnel she shot at.
When i was taught firearm usage, we were taught to aim for center mass. Is that not still taught?
It also says 2 rounds fired, but only 1 struck:
The Warrant Officer returned fire with a 9 mm service pistol and fired approximately two rounds at Siddiqui’s torso, hitting her at least once.
Granted, head shot would have been more effective
Just saying, if he aimed center mass, and depending on where the other people were in proximity, he might not have had a direct line of fire for anything lethal, without putting the others in the room directly in harms way.
True, I may be giving him a harder time than needs be. I have no clue how close the interpreter was that pushed the barrel out of the way. But when I was in the infantry even newbies at ultra-close range (less than 15 feet imo) could draw smiley faces with a handgun and hit exactly where they wanted to hit. Of course everyone is taught center mass, but at that close of range it should have been cake to hit her upper chest several times or even her head assuming there were no people in the way of those targets at the second he decided to pull the trigger twice.
Anyhow, all the more reason to go hit up the range
I was thinking of brining my 9mm with me but after reading this story I think I should keep up to date with my .45
Could this be true?
In the immediate aftermath of the 2001 anthrax attacks, White House officials repeatedly pressed FBI Director Robert Mueller to prove it was a second-wave assault by Al Qaeda, but investigators ruled that out, the Daily News has learned.
good point..there’s a few ranges around here, i might need to get a few practice shots in
More swoop and poop, the seagulls are flocking today
I’d invite ya to come with here but I think Phoenix is a long ways from you
Yeah, just down the road a piece
I think i’ll stick to the one about 5 minutes from the house

LGM, your posting formula seems to be:
When I have no comment of substance to make, I will find external links about Republicans and biased and inaccurate information about FOX News because I feel that the left should have a monopoly on the media.
So, where did you get that info about KFC in Iraq? Bravenewfilms? When Fox attacks, newshounds or Talking Points Memo?
That’s what this is all about, isn’t it, LGM? Correct me if I am wrong, but you really just want a liberal monopoly on the media.
Talking Points Memo? Gee, I wonder where they got that idea from….
Also, since you’re talking about news mistakes, how about this one from CBS. First, they intentionally lie about George Bush, who is an American hero for serving his country, and now this!
Do tell, LGM, how all these “educated” journalists can get two cities with over 200,000 people each mixed up so easily? Or maybe I shouldn’t be surprised after they botched the Bush story.
Maybe FOX News isn’t so bad after all. It’s probably why it’s numero uno in cable news ratings.
Good. Strap her down and get the bucket of water. I want some life-saving intel, now.
It being a military pistol, used by a member of the armed forces of a country which respects the Geneva Conventions, it would have been loaded with full metal jacket bullets. Hollow points, or other expanding rounds are banned for use by the military.
Why is this not on Fox News? Never mind. I suspect the reason the MSM has such a hard time with real news, is along the lines of why the State Department continues to allow moon god worshiping POS into this country.
It is not POLITICAL CORRECT to say or do anything to WIN.
BZO or Die!
Bring back the Model 1911 Colt 45 instead of Italian party poppers and we could all read about this in the obits.
If you have to use a caliber that doesn’t begin with a 4 or above, you have to shoot them until they quit twitching.
Which, in layman’s terms means he quit pulling the trigger too soon. I believe a 9mm (I’m guessing Glock?) holds more than two rounds, so he obviously took his finger off the trigger while she was still twitching. (To be honest, unless I was there, I can’t say whether or not he did the prudent thing, just would have preferred that he put one between the eye’s.)
And now we’re faced with paying for a long trial and longer appeal process. Actually a long appeal process to determine what kind of trial she is entitled to.
Just a spirited youth planning a holiday celebration…
We can understand her hatred of America, since Muslims treat their women better than we do.
A real screw-up but the biggest screw-up was this woman leaving the room alive.
Does she get virgins when she dies?
If you were trained in the military then you have had some seriously bad instruction. Or have we become the British Navy now???? You should have been trained to shoot upside-down, or right-side up, or with your primary appendage incapacipated, or with obstacles in your way.
Center of mass is for law-enforcement. But the main order of business is….. you shoot THROUGH ANYBODY (PFC/Commanding Officer/best friend/wife/etc) in order to kill what you are trying to eliminate.
Not really . . . it’s all about shot placement and bullet selection. “The torso” is pretty non-specific, and the torso isn’t the size of a postage stamp. There are lots of non-lethal, non-debilitating places to be hit.
Also — he wasn’t using hollow points. That matters
FWIW — I handload, and part of my quality control regimen is to measure the velocity of samples of my reloads. I’ve found that my 9mms (2 SIGS) will shoot 124 grain bullets just about as fast as my .357 Mags (2 S & Ws, 1 K-frame, 1 L-frame) will shoot 125 grain bullets (the .357s have 3 and 2.5 inch barrels, respectively).
Oh — and I’ve calibrated my reloads against factory ammo — including premium self-defense stuff. They’re roughly equal. So if you say the 9mm isn’t an adequate self-defense cartridge, then a .357 Mag in a short barrel (less than the 8″ – 10″ barrels used by ammo manufacturers to gather descriptive stats for their loads) isn’t either. At least with 125 grain bullets.
See-dubya, although I prefer the .45 ACP, a 9mm +P+ is not a bad round. It is not standard issue, but it should be.
But the way, I reload my 9’s with 115gr Hornaday jacketed hollow points, 5.8gr of Unique. This is a very accurate load for my Hi-Power.
Naaa, she gets to do the cooking.
Remember that the military has to use round-nose, full metal jacket ammo, per Geneva Convention rules. A modern +P hollowpoint probably would have done a better job. It also doesn’t tell you where they hit her. Even a 45 ACP into your hand isn’t going to kill you.
Thus, the military in general plays with bullets that are made to wound, not kill, and there wasn’t enough info in the clip you posted to determine anything about the efficacy of 9mm vs. other calibers.
That said, I’ll take mine in 45 ACP.
Too tired. Just redirect to underline pet peeve misconception & the answers to it…
