Kind of a side note on the previous ‘leaded gas’ mention.
Remember that ‘they’ charged us to put the lead into the gasoline, and then charged us even more to ‘NOT PUT IT IN THE GASOLINE’. It was an additive.

I wonder if Dirty Harry will have the intestinal fortitude to face the members of the Las Vegas casino industry suffering significantly thanks to his refusal to Drill Here, Drill Now, and Pay Less. Here’s hoping he will survive the drilling they will give him, but knowing who runs this industry he will be lucky if he doesn’t end up at the bottom of Lake Meade wearing concrete goulashes.

I have been in the oil business for 55 years as geologist/engineer/refiner.
I can tell you there is no one reason for the current price crisis. It is a perfect storm of supply/demand, commodities speculators and, mostly, political ineptitude/ignorance.
There is no one short range solution but the first and most effective step immeditely is to remove the Luddite restrictions on drilling everywhere in the US.
Drilling and production can be conducted in an environmentally friendly manner.
Even though we have vast undeveloped hydrocarbon reserves,they are not, in the long run, infinite. Some, such as oil shales and tar sands, will require improved technology for more efficient production and will never be as “cheap” to produce as we have been conditioned to think of as normal.
Fossil fuel energy is crucial for primary transportation vehicles. It can be augmented by natural gas conversion of those vehicles where practical. Total energy needs must be supplemented by wind, solar, nuclear and more efficient and practical electric vehicles. Biofuels, in my opinion, hold little promise as a positive adjunct being energy negative and compouding the damage by increasing food costs.
It is painful to hear the libs parrot their ignorant mantras disdaining drilling,spouting ludicrous claims for inflated tires and tuneups and re-hashing the claim that millions of acres of drillable land are already under lease, ignoring the fact that much of it has already been evaluated by drilling, seimic and other exploratory means and found unprospective, some leases will expire under term, some are not technically and logistically accessible and some are fighting inane and insane environmental restrictions.
Drilling just any lease because it is available is rather like looking under a street light for a coin lost in a dark alley. eet light because the light is better.
