Don't have sympathy for Home Depot. It benefits from illegals.

Three years ago I had to replace the roof on my house. I got bids/estimates from several contractors, one of which was Home Depot. The 'salesman' that came to give me the estimate told me a story about another job they did north of where I live. Long story short, he said Mexicans installed the roof and he raved at what great workers they were - they finished the job in a day! I heard "Mexicans" and immediately "illegal aliens" came to my mind. I believe the job was in New York State so I'm probably right.

Now, Home Depot does not have in-house employees for roof installations; they outsource to contractors. I recognize the contractor assigned to the roofing project hired the "Mexicans".

The Home Depot bid was double that of the bids from local roofing contractors. The salesman gave a spiel about how much insurance they have and that a large part of the cost is for the insurance.

My point is:
- If they were illegals and one of them fell off my roof and broke their neck, the insurance wouldn't have covered them.
- Home Depot does not check on the companies they contract out to.
- They have to charge enough so that Home Depot and the contractor make money on the deal and to cover the warranty Home Depot gives. Now, we know that the illegals are paid crap so who is making all the money?

I met a home depot manager from a san diego store who told me that every day he has to call the police because these day laborers try to steal tools in his store to make them more attractive hires. He called the police, who pick them up, charge and release them and within hours those same people are back in front of his store, many with the audacity to try to steal again. The police said that petty theft charges is only a notice to appear in front of a judge and they cannot hold or book them into jail.

He called the Border Patrol and was told that they cannot patrol interior city areas and he must call ICE.

He called ICE and they asked if there were drugs being sold by the day laborers...(apparently ICE, like other enforcement agencies keep drug raid profits and illegal alien chasing is not profitable). ICE said that they would require a year investigation before they could do anything and honestly these type of raids on illegals are not in thier interest to do, but if drugs are involved they could come immeadiately. If they show up and drugs are not present, they will not do anything. They told him he should call the police for the theft and if they are booked into jail, then ICE agents could start deportation paperwork if they are notified of their presence in jail facilities.

Illegals here have figured out that if they are apprehended by the police on misdemeanor charges, like petty theft, all they have to do is fake a heart attack or other illness. The police call for an ambulance who take the illegal to the hospital and since police are understaffed they do not send an officer to guard the illegal while they are being treated, so they are just released to the public after treatment.

I live in a small suburb east of San Francisco. A Home Depot opened a few years ago. Today, we are plagued by hundreds of men who loiter on the sidewalk over a four block area, pee in the bushes, whistle at women, and generally make nuisances of themselves. I called Home Depot and complained. They told me they don’t “enforce” immigration law.

I don’t shop at Home Depot. Not ever.

Something similar happened in Fairfax, Va a few years ago. People were complaining about illegal day-laborers hanging around the local 7-11 store and generally making a mess of things. So the county board spent taxpayer money to build a shelter with all the amenities needed by the illegals. It's also maintained at taxpayer expense. The People's Democratic Republic of Northern Virginia is similar to California in many ways.

I guarantee my store would be 99,900 square feet if I had to use my own chainsaw to whittle it down.

And the local zoning board would not issue a building permit to you because the size of your store does not meet space requirements for that area. Remember, your specifications have to be approved in advance by the government before you can build on your own property.

Government mandating a private business set up ( essentially ) areas on their property where illegal aliens can gather to advertise their cheap, undocumented labor????

It's called socialism. Government controls property and means of production. If you think government doesnt control property, just try doing something to your property without the local/state/federal government's permission. It's just one small step to government ownership of property and production. In a normal world this is called communism.

I've seen around here, when the locals go onto the job sites...fastest way to scare illegals off is show up semi-decently dressed and with a camera. They think you work for the law and are there photographing them for la migra :)

Home-improvement stores would also be required to develop a security plan in consultation with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Security plan for what? To ensure word gets passed if ICE shows up?

Wow.

I just read this one and all I can say is...

You have to be effen kidding me.

This deserves all the derision and mockery it gets.

Even if every single one of those immigrants standing outside the Home Depot were legal (which is obviously not the case) this would still be stupid.

Companies that open large home-improvement stores in Los Angeles would have to set aside space for day laborers

And we can call this space Manzanar and HEY, it is already there. I drove by it last month. The gymnasiam and one guard tower are still there since WWII ready to go, just a little more set up effort and those illegals have a new home!

Build an ICE substation next to each one. That way they can round them up with out having to leave the parking lot of their office, and think of the reduction of green house gasses not having to drive to find the illegals.

Thanks for that info, Ugly American. I've been learning Journalistic codes. For instance, look at this story. Now we have a "Road Rage" incident in San Pedro. No mention of the shooter that's in custody as it's not immediately released. Yet other news sources such as the radio has reported his name. Why is his name being with held? Could it be because the perps were Latino?

Now looking at the posts, we have the victim's friends chirping in and here's what they say:

the shooter + i passenger was mexican and the guy on his way to work ups was white and a real nice dude- mellow! the shooters wree also drunk!

And from another friend of his.

The report left out the fact that he was shot in the chin as well. He is a good friend, and did not deserve this!! And yes, the shooter was drunk driving at 6:00AM.

What I've learned is if the paper reports that "identity was not immediately released" more than likely they are illegal invaders and gang bangers.

Happens all the time where the press covers up these hate crimes.
