here is my kind of sheriff--

"Sen. John McCain visited Liberty Township for a Thursday fundraiser, but a fellow Republican will not be in attendance.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones took out a half-page newspaper ad blasting the presidential candidate’s stance on illegal immigration, and similar ads are planned for other Ohio and New York newspapers.

“Before I'm a Republican, I'm an American, and this is an American issue, and I can say what I think,” Jones said.

In the ad, the sheriff asks McCain why voters hadn’t heard his policy on illegal immigration, an issue about which Jones is particularly outspoken.

“Are you avoiding this American issue?” the ad asks. “We are all ears.”

Jones, who wants the border sealed and illegal immigrants deported, said he feels McCain has sold out the Republican Party and the U.S. by remaining silent.

“Believe me, he won't discuss this issue at all in the next 90 days,” Jones said. “He doesn't want to talk about it at all, (and) I'm going to talk about it everywhere in Ohio.”

A campaign representative said Thursday that McCain would secure the border as president, but the Arizona Republican believes there should be a comprehensive solution for illegal immigration.

Jones said he did not know whether McCain would discuss the ad during his Tri-state fundraiser, but he added that he would not be there to find out.

“I'm not paying $5,000 to have my picture with McCain,” Jones said. “I'm going to stay home and watch paint dry.”

There is a fence out there, See-dubya.. In Douglas, AZ, just a bit over 200 miles east as the crow flies, there's a quaint wooden fence next to a ditch to mark the border. See?

But notice which direction the fence bends? Golly, if it doesn't look like its meant to keep Americans out of Mexico...not that a hammer and a little American ingenuity couldn't overcome that obstacle.

Actually, when the army of one country crosses a border into another country, that's war. Somebody ought to stand up in congress and introduce a bill of war. That might get some attention.... especially since I think only the President can do that....

I'm not that interested in a fence. I'm thinking more along the lines of helicopter gunships ..... 50mm also comes to mind. They can stand a couple miles off (off the reservation, so to speak) and give a clear indication of where the border is.

Oh, thinking of the reservation as a sovereign nation, why don't we build a fence on this side of the reservation? You know, do a little loop around. Let that nation defend itself from the Mexicans and stand up for its sovereignty.

On August 7th, 2008 at 3:25 pm, Christian Soldier said:

PSS ?
What is LaRaza Mc’s take on the Mexican military invasion of the U.S.?

Clearly, La Raza would not understand why they left. After all, they are just taking military responsibility for the land their people are populating.

Jorge Bush is far more interested in protecting Iraq than his own country. Sorry but those of you who still have any respect for this President have lost me. He is obviously doing his best to destroy the sovreigntry of this country. How Laura Ingraham and Michele and a host of others can excuse that is beyond me. This is WAR!
Send the man a BANANA..heck send him a bunch since he is a dictator of a banana republic now.

In northwest arkansas - home of wal-mart and tyson foods - a few months there was a raid on several family-owned mexican restaurants. Unfortunately - several owners were here illegally and a total of 19 people were arrested at the restaurants and management. Today in federal court the owners pled guilty to a MISDEMEANOR of harboring illegals or something like that. In a federal courtroom. by pleading to a misdemeanor they are allowed to keep the multi-million worth of property the gov't was trying to make them forfeit.....it doesn't make sense to me at all. they got a slap on the wrist - and the worst thing is they will probably be allowed to stay in the country. what does the average tax-paying, legal American citizen do when their government no longer serves them?

see-dub, I respectfully suggest that you should’ve done this reporting yesterday prior to posting that the Mexican army had “invaded” the US.

You've apparently never been down there. As behiker noted, the Organ Pipe National Monument has an old fence on the border. There is no way that the Mexican soldiers didn't know where there were. The fact is that there quite a number of incursions each year by Mexican soldiers, although they usually take off once spotted.
