Know Your Failure: Ask Nancy Pelosi on washingtonpost.com today!

The Bookscan figures are in and they confirm what we’ve known all along:

Nancy Pelosi is a complete and abject failure.

As Speaker of the House. And as an author.

2,737 measly copies, via Drudge.

Wonder how many books Tori Spelling sold…

On a related note, you have a rare opportunity to ask Nancy Pelosi questions. In a bid to sell 2 more copies of her crappy book, she’ll be doing a “chat” with washingtonpost.com.

Submit your questions here.

The chat starts at 3pm Eastern.

Perhaps someone can quote her own words back to her (see here) and ask how she reconciles them with her inaction.

Or, of course, there are these simple questions, which, despite knowing her power, she hasn’t been able to answer without resorting to snort-worthy babbling:

Why won’t you allow up-or-down votes on GOP energy proposals?

What are you so afraid of?

Why won’t you allow up-or-down votes on GOP energy proposals?

One point I have to agree with her is her “use it or lose it” policy to make the oil companies drill in the leases they currently own. The only thing wrong with her program is that it doesn’t allow for drilling unhindered by environut lawsuits preventing them from using it.

If the oil companies can’t use the leases they have because they get injunctions from some liberal judges blocking them from drilling, it does no good to tell them to use it lose it.

Regardless of how environmentally safe they are, if they spend all of their development funds money on lawyers, they can’t afford to pay drilling crews.

And that’s where the ten years number comes from. When you take out the threat of lawsuits, the time frame gets substantially reduced .

    Madam Speaker,

After the 2006 elections you promised to do something about the price of gasoline in the nation. Over the past two years of your tenure the price of gasoline has doubled. Are you satisfied with this accomplishment?

    My question was basically this:

You say you won’t allow any more drilling here in the U.S. (or even a vote on it) because you are trying to save the planet. How do you reconcile that with the fact that less drilling here equals more drilling in places like Nigeria where there is far less concern for environmental factors and where there are many explosions and spills that would be prevented by American standards?
Isn’t it true that American drilling is far safer and cleaner than drilling in the Middle East and Africa? In a crusade to save the planet, why would American drilling not actually be a step forward?

And besides, there are other states with beautiful that support offshore drilling. If you are going to spend your dollars on a beach vacation, at least spend those dollars in an area that is not opposed to saving you some money on your gas bills.

I too sent several questions, pointed but respectful, for which I’m not expecting any response. Instead we get the following:

The President, always gracious, welcomed me as a new member of the leadership. As he began the discussion, I suddenly felt crowded in my chair. It was truly an astonishing experience, as if Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott, Alice Paul, and all the other suffragettes and activists who had worked hard to advance women in government and in life were right there with me. I was enthralled by their presence, and then I could clearly hear them say: “At last we have a seat at the table.”

I guess Nan has learned channeling spirits from John Edwards.

Seriously, how can anybody listen to this nonsense from a national leader and not be pessimistic about the future of this country? This country is full of empty headed people that buy into this garbage and then spew it out endlessly . How many times have I heard some grievance monger talk about their “seat at the table” and wondered does this person have any understanding of how our system of government works at any level? Most painful is seeing young women who admire this empty headed woman and want to emulate her. Do they realize the power and wealth she was born into? There are so many role models to choose from, people that have overcome adversity to go far in life without the benefit of family connections and money. Nancy Pelosi is not one of them.

This openness requires respect for every voice in the Congress”…”we have an obligation to reach beyond partisanship to serve all Americans.” – Nancy Pelosi, 1/4/2007

Do you still require “respect for every voice in congress”, Nancy? Do you really want to “serve all Americans” or just the rabid environmentists?

Then there is this one from Harry Reid:

Sen. Reid of Nevada told a crowd that the Democrats’ win in the House and Senate showed it is “time for a change. It’s time for bipartisanship. It’s time for open government, transparency, and it’s a time for results,” he said. – November 9, 2006

Where are the results, Harry? Why are you and Nancy shutting off debate, closing down government, and refusing bipartisan efforts to get results when it comes to a viable energy policy?

Are there any promises these two have kept?

When I became Speaker, I quoted St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of San Francisco: “preach the Bible; sometimes use words.” I try to follow that guidance in my work – to remember that we a re all God’s children and we have a responsibility to each other and to our planet – God’s creation.

Preach the bible!?! You say that you actually preach the bible!? Where does the bible say to murder unborn children, take lobbyist money and allow gays to marry!?

    What a hypocrite.

Canon Law dictates that ANYONE who is complacent or supports ABORTION in ANYWAY is automatically excommunicated from the Church.

    She’s no Catholic.

The most powerful woman in the history of American politics is suffering a humiliating defeat at the nation’s bookstores, sales figures show.

In her first week at market, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi sold just 2,737 copies of her book KNOW YOUR POWER, according to NIELSEN BOOKSCAN.
OBAMA NATION (I thouth is was Abomination), which debuts at #1 on both the BOOKSCAN and the NEW YORK TIMES Bestseller List, with 21,466 copies moved, industry insiders tell DRUDGE.

Now I know the correct spelling of OBAMA NATION I bought two so I can fear him twice as much.

However, after scanning the first page of the comments section on her “chat,” I am cheered. Not a positive comment among them. Everyone seemed to be criticizing her for going on vacation, pimping her book instead of doing her job, and blocking GOP energy proposals. It was great to see her approval ratings in action.

    Madam Speaker,

When are you going to permit the American people access to the oil in ANWR and on the Outter Continental Shelf? Why do you find it acceptable to allow the Chinese to drill on the OCS but not American oil companies?

    —–

    Madam Speaker,

After the 2006 elections you promised to do something about the price of gasoline in the nation. Over the past two years of your tenure the price of gasoline has doubled. Are you satisfied with this accomplishment?

    —–

    Madam Speaker,

Public approval ratings for Congress are at an all time low. These approval ratings have fallen drastically since you became Speaker of the House. Can you comment on why your leadership has been so utterly ineffective?

These questions were probably asked but Nancy Pelosi is too cowardly to answer them.

Apologies to Clive James for gender tampering and other amendments:

‘The Book of Nancy Pelosi Has Been Remaindered’

The book of Nancy Pelosi has been remaindered
    And I am pleased.

In vast quantities it has been remaindered
Like a submarine-load of nose candy that has been seized
And sits in piles in a police warehouse,
Our enemy’s much-prized effort squats in piles
In the kind of bookshop where remaindering occurs.
Great, square stacks of rejected books and, between them, aisles
One passes down reflecting on life’s vanities,
Pausing to remember all those simpering reviews
Lavished to no avail upon Nancy Pelosi’s book –
For behold, here is that book
Among these ranks and banks of duds,
These ponderous and seemingly irreducible stalagmites
    Of complete stiffs
    .

The book of Nancy Pelosi has been remaindered
    And I rejoice.

It has gone with bowed head like a Harry Reid
Outsmarted and defeated by Rush Limbaugh.
What avail her now her awards and prizes,
The praise expended upon her feminine mystique,
    Her “important” new voice?
Knocked into the middle of next week
Her brainchild now consorts with the bad buys
The sinkers, clinkers, dogs and dregs,
The Segways of the world of moveable type,
The bummers that no amount of hype could shift,
The unbudgeable turkeys fit only for moonbats.

Yea, her slim volume with its understated wrapper
Bathes in the blare of the brightly jacketed “Molly Ivins’s Wit and Wisdom”.
    Her unmistakably “important” new voice
Shares the same scrapyard with a forlorn skyscraper
Of Howard Dean‘s “Winning Back America“.
Her honesty, loudly proclaimed by herself and believed by no one
Her renowned embrace of all posturing and pretense,
Is there with Maher‘s “When You Ride Alone, You Ride with Bin Laden“.
    And “Barry Manilow Singalongs”.
And (oh, this above all) her sensibility,
Her preening sensibility and its hair-like filaments,
Her delicate, quivering sensibility is now as one
With Barbara Windsor’s Book of Boobs,
A volume graced by the descriptive rubric
“My boobs will give everyone hours of fun”.

Only victory over the Messiah could possibly surpass the memory of this sweet moment.
So chill the champagne and polish the crystal goblets!

The book of Nancy Pelosi has been remaindered
    And I am glad.

    Let’s see, now…

The book retails for $23.95. You can buy it online for about $18.00.

So let’s say the average price paid is a nice round $20. 2800 copies at $20 is $56,000 gross. That’s for everyone – the book retailers, the publishers and the esteemed author. I’d bet that Nan’s travel, lodging and dining expenses for the promotion of the book are over $20,000, and the retailer’s take off the sales price is over $12,000 (that’s only about 10% slice). That leaves less than $24,000, and the publisher still has to cover their printing and distribution and advertising costs.

Something tells me that it is going to be awhile to break even.

Don’t be shocked to see a large sales spike – that’ll be George Soros placing a large order to get some money into poor Nan’s pockets – can’t let a Dem luminary flop like that. Another way to launder money into the pockets of politicians through an erstwhile legal means. Georgie will take care of his minions.
