Conspiracy theory vid of the day: Fear the low rainbows!
Here’s a goofy one for a slow Friday: Brian Ledbetter has unearthed a wonderful new conspiracy theory video. (If his embedded video doesn’t play–it hangs up after 30 seconds for me–check the YouTube version here.)
Call her a Rainbow Truther. When you believe in an all-powerful cabal of puppetmasters, it becomes the default explanation for any anomaly in your universe. Hurricane in New Orleans? Blame Bush, or the Zionists, or the Oil Companies. See a rainbow in your sprinkler? Same thing.
Of course, some of us highly-placed Party Members within VRWC know the real explanation for funky rainbows.

Speaking of conspiracy theorists: I went to the DMV by Dulles Airport the other day to switch my license over to Virginia. Directly in front of the entrance, clearly on state property, a group of Lyndon Larouche supporters had set up a booth and were handing out their nutball literature. There was a security guy inside who didn’t seem to take notice.
Can kooks like the Larouchebags do that, legally? I was in a hurry, so I didn’t want to make a scene. But I’m pretty sure that running a political booth on the grounds of a state agency is a no-no.

It took three trips to the DMV. I was pretty angry after my second trip when I found out I had to come back again, and I saw these jokers.

see-dubya I spent a lot of time in the Herndon area when my old HQ (Defense Threat Reduction Agency they are called today) was in the office buildings at Dulles Intl Airport in the 90s (still might have a presence there). One thing that always amazed me even then was the number of folks of questionable citizenship. The up side is you are pretty close to some pretty interesting historical sites.
Nice thing about the DMV in the county we live in the middle of nowhere Idaho it is in the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office so it tends to keep the riff raff and those of questionable citizenship away. My visits have always been much more pleasant than those when we were stationed in the Peoples Republic of California. Hopefully you don’t need to make an appointment like you did back there and it still took over an hour.
I saw them here in Manassas a couple of months ago, and wondered the same thing….perhaps I’ll swing by on the way home and see if they are still there.
I can’t find anything that directly prohibits it, but maybe a prohibition of LOITERING applies.

Hey, lady…must have been asleep in elementary school. Anyone knows how rainbows are formed and it has nothing to do with chemicals, global warming or Bush. The “conspiracy” here, lady, is in the sun. It all goes to show how dumbed down our society has become, when a simple rainbow can stir up such nonsense. Oh, for those scratching their heads, the normal white light going through water molecules break down into the spectrum of light, thus showing a rainbow. Basic explanation without going through the hows/whys. Obviously, this lady can’t explain why colors are formed either. Ah, new conspiracy!

As a child growing up int he 60’s (too young to really enjoy the 60’s) I remember seeing rainbows on the sprinkers all summer.
I always thought it was nuclear fallout from the “Russion Commie Bastards” that my dad was always warning us about. Not that I understood nuclear fallout mind you, I just heard a lot about it while my dad and uncles were building the bomb shelter. And after every nuclear attack drill at school.
Reminds me of General Buck Turgidson (sp?) getting the energy sapped from his precious bodily fluids…

That conspiracy theory video is a great example of how liberals think. That is why you can’t argue with them because just to be a liberal in the first place requires glaring ignorance about some basic functioning of the world.
As I listened to this video, I kept thinking: I’ll bet she’s from California..I’ll bet she’s from Northern California. I was not disappointed.
The lack of scientific education in the public school is frightening. I think a 3rd grade education tells you where rainbows come from, if I remember correctly?

Last time I went to DMV in northern Virginia it took an hour to get plates and driver’s license switched over. I’ve lived a lot of different places in the USA and DMV is universally bad everywhere, usually because the county only wants to keep One Big Central Office.
The worst experience was in Dallas, where you waited in line for forty-five minutes to get to the other side of a curtain hung down the middle of a former grocery store. When you finally got around the curtain, you found another forty-five minute line to get to the teller.
The best experience was in Indiana, where they had outsourced the driver’s license so that there were little mini-DMVs all over, about half the size of a convenience store. Generally, you were in and out in less than twenty minutes.
This is such an easy problem to solve but the big problem is that government doesn’t care if it’s easy for you.
