Oh, and another thing. As a semi-observant Jew, I take off work for the major holidays, between 8-13 days depending on how the Jewish year lines up with the Gregorian calendar. They are generally UNPAID DAYS OFF. I don't expect the USA to change to accommodate ME, I make the accommodations. I recognize that over 90% of the people who LEGALLY live in this fabulous country are Christians. If you are offended by Christians and way this country is run, don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya. There are lots of countries that are based on other religions. If you are Moslem, there are 22 of them. Pick one and leave. See how far your whining and protesting gets you in, say, Iran or Saudia Arabia.

OY!!! Much of my family lives in Iowa and a couple of my cousins and one of my sisters has seen flyers in Spanish that illegals carried from Mexico to Marshall Pack. The flyers were advertisements by MARSHALL PACK for workers for the meat processing plant. Now, how/why would a person in Mexico be interested in working in a plant in the middle of Iowa?

I am absolutely sure that they are not the only ones to employ large numbers of illegals. (Can you spell P-O-S-T-V-I-L-L-E?!?!?) And I am sure that those ads are placed by plants from other states.

Oh, and can we REALLY trust ICE to keep track of people who came here but ran out of money and didn't bother to update their papers or go home?

Nope, not me either...luckily, I eat very little meat. It makes some ethical decisions a little easier.

On August 9th, 2008 at 9:48 pm, Rusty said:

Abortion murders children.

Abortion is legally sanctioned, so it can not be called murder.

And what you call a child and what science calls a child are two very different things.

and

The difference of course being that slaves were in fact people and fetuses are in fact not.

Gotta disagree with you here, Rusty. Actually, it is a legal definition, hence the reason for a child to be D&E'd prior to crossing the legal threshold, the birth canal.

Scientifically, the embryo is considered to be offspring or progeny, whether "born" or not (mostly a mammalian concept with notable exceptions), considering that some (actually most) animals simply lay eggs and they are fertilized and developed outside the mother.

I don’t deny that some women regret their choice, but that doesn’t matter. Many people regret getting married. We don’t want to outlaw marriage.

There are times... ;-)

Oh that's a great analogy.

Comparing marriage to murdering an unborn baby.

You truly are mentally twisted.

Let's see the empirical evidence then.

You ignore empirical evidence. Many women suffer guilt and shame for their abortion. Some even on this board have admitted it.

The fact that you dismiss this aspect of abortion - the emotional consequences for women - tells all: you are a misogynist and child hater who does not give a rat's ass about those who are weaker than yourself.

For you libtards, it's all about power.

As for etymology, you're the one who brought up the term. I "enlightened" you as to its meaning. Seeing that you were proven wrong, you then say you "don't care", naturally, because you don't want to know the truth, babykilller.

Who cares what the etymology of "fetus" is? How does that change anything?

And your cavalier dismissal of the disturbing consequences for women who have had abortions demonstrates once again your contempt for women and children.

Oh, man. Pleas enlighten me. Disturbing consequences? I can only imagine what you think and what the science says.

Uh, I guess you don't know what the term "fetus" means.

It's Latin for "little one". And I don't think the Romans meant "little tomato", or "little blob".

And your cavalier dismissal of the disturbing consequences for women who have had abortions demonstrates once again your contempt for women and children.

Your misogyny and callousness only serves to prove that you are indeed inhuman.

Well, the Supreme Court didn’t consider blacks “people”; they were property.

The difference of course being that slaves were in fact people and fetuses are in fact not.

When a woman has an abortion she has to live with the effects of that decision the rest of her life.

Yes. So what? People have to live with every decision they make. Whether it's burning a flag, owning a gun, or having an abortion. Just because people may regret a decision doesn't mean it's not a right.

The fact that abortion may be safe and legal does not make it right. Killing an unborn child is still killing. It is murder. When a woman has an abortion she has to live with the effects of that decision the rest of her life.
