Thanks for the opportunity.
Have been visiting for a few months and look forward to contributing to the good things here.
Yes, I am a Conservative.
I’m in, uh-rah. Thanks Michelle, look forward to contributing from Yorktown, VA.
In for one.
In like Flynn.
Thanks, Michelle for opening up the registration.
Later
At the risk of sounding like an ignorant clod, how do I block quote and add emoticons?
I’m finally in! Hello everyone! Now I will probably hardly ever comment. Dang job.
question?? who is b. H obama going with for vp??will his pick matter?i say it won’t!libs are going to vote for HIM
no matter what. {smart people]everybody else won’t!
Let’s see: -insert pangram here-.
I’m in.
Thanks admin!
Jvette …
To place a block quote click on the “quote” tab at the top of the comment form … this will place the starting html code in the comment box … write or paste your quoted verbage after the html code … then click on “quote” a second time to add the closing html code …
voila! … you have created a block quote …
as for the emoticons … if you see one you like simply place your mouse pointer over it and it will show you the characters to enter to isnert it in your text …
Finally in.
Thanks, Michelle.
Later.
isnert = insert … finger check
Don’t put yourself down – we all had to learn at one time or another.
When you look at the “Leave a comment” block, you’ll see several buttons arrayed along the top: (strong) (emphasis) (link) (quote) (strike) (Close Tags)
Hit the (quote) button, then paste in your quote. The button will change to (/quote). That represents the close of the quote block.
As for emoticons, best way is to right click on those you see on these threads, copy down the properties, and then insert them into the end of your post.
cpodug … great minds thinking alike again …
Hold the left button on your mouse down and run your cursor over what you wish to quote. This will highlight it. Then click the quote button. Emphasis, strong, and strike buttons work the same way.
To create a link, highlight the word or phrase you wish to make a link, and click the link button. This will open a scripted window. Paste the actual link in the window and click OK.
Move your cursor over the emoticons you see and you will see what you need to type to create them.
Don’t feel bad; I had to have somebody explain that stuff to me, too. Welcome aboard!

Another block quote method is to paste a comment in, then highlight it. Click on quote once and there you have it. Pretty much the same way with the others too: Strong, Emphasis, Strike
DL – around here, that’s not such a remarkable achievement – see backwoods’ post, too.
Not groupthink, but just our way of welcoming the new ones
Jvette – ask and ye shall receive!
Jvette,
Your question has gotten alot of help I have been to shy to ask for. I have been here for months and still am just a dull poster. I still don’t quite see where the emoticnos come from people. Thanks.
L
cpodug … absolutely …
Hey, I just wanted to say thanks to Michelle (and See-Dubya, too) for opening up registration. I’ve been a long time reader of this blog. It is one of my “must-read” blogs along with Power Line, Newsbusters and even though listed last, certainly not the least, Hot Air.
Now I can add my 2 cents. Hope I can live up to the high standards here.
Hmmm…so, can you type in HTML tags themselves? If so, are there any limitations on HTML tags?
Here’s another neat trick….
Go to a comment you wish to respond to and click on the #. Then copy that url. for istance, Desertlover gave you instructions on block quotes. By using the link function, the reader can go back to read the original comment. Click on his name and it will take you right to his comment.
To a great extent, the WordPress program Michelle is using creates emoticons from the things people ordinarily type for smiley faces and such–like a colon followed by a parentheses. Other things are created by typing such things as lol, shock, and roll with a colon on both sides.
letget …
the emoticons are not selectable like on some chat programs … you have to manually type in the characters to create them …
here are a couple of the more common ones …
just type in the characters shown without the quotes to create the emoticons next to them …
just to get you started …
Thanks everyone but here’s my problem. At the leave a comment box, there are no other buttons. All it says is leave a comment and that I am logged in.
Maybe it is my old computer or the fact that to have the FF work I had to disable the java and javascript.
I know very little about computers but apparently my display is lacking the things others have.
Johnny D …
Well Done …
And Jvette, don’t forget to “Preview” your comment. Ugh!
for istance=For instance
Thanks to you all for the info. I will write this all down so I might be better at this. I am really new on the internet and had no idea what to do.
L
Jvette …
The comment box with the buttons is written in javascript … so you need Java enabled to see them …
Now I’ve learned something. I’ve been here for a while and didn’t know that one. Thanks.
DesertLover, I actually answered my own question by opening this site in IE7 and there were all the boxes you all mentioned. Thanks again for your help:)
Bless you, Michelle! I am verklempt. Could someone please pass the teleprompter?
Hello everyone! It’s nice to now be a part of the MichelleMalkin.com commenting community!
Now that I can finally post comments, I can’t think of anything to say.
Wow, happy Monday! Hello to all!
I am surely the most politically outspoken of my friends, yet right now I might as well be meeting Michelle, because I have wide eyes and nothing to say…
I’ll get over it.
Greetings to everyone! A grateful thank you Michelle and see-dub for the open registration. It has been a pleasure reading your gang’s commentors (well, almost all), and finally I are one.
Just make sure you get the copy of the link to the comment before you start typing. I’ve lost a few comments of my own before going back to get the link thingy right. It is slightly more frustrating than just block quoting. I guess that’s why I don’t see it used here that much.
Hello from Plumas County, California. Yeeeaaah! The “Good California.”
Who let the dogs out?
My collie says:
Thank you SeeDubya. I’ve been wanting to participate for some time now.
Hello, strangers. Welcome.
Now if I could just catch Hot Air when they open their comments up…
Who let the talking dog in? It stole my cupcake!
The third time is the charm, See-Dubya! Thank you for sticking it out with me! I missed the last open registration and certainly didn’t want to miss today!
Where did you get a cupcake? I’m pretty sure 30 didn’t bake us any.
Hey Ya’ll,
I’ve been reading this site for several months now. I quite enjoy many of your comments.
BTW – do continue to feed the trolls/seagulls. The inevitable smack-down is sweet and I’ve often used some of your responses to great effect.
# 239
I enjoy your ‘collie’ on HA. Happy you are here.

Many thanks, backwoods conservative! I’m actually in Travelers Rest, but who knows where TR is, eh? I’m the backwoods one!
I’m so excited to finally be a member here. I’ve loved this blog for so long!
Greetings from the Mecca of Election Mayhem; Broward County Florida!
Thank You Michelle. I have been visiting the site for a few years now and I am glad to finally be able to share my 2 cents!
Been to TR many times, even have kinfolk there. My claim to backwoods comes more from where I hang out than where I live, and if you’ve ever done much rambling in McCormick County, you know what I mean.
Imagine my surprise to find that I had already registered. I shall need to find occasions to liven up the discussions.
Thanks Michelle for allowing my the privilege to participate on this always exciting blog. I will try to keep up with the clear and concise, and hopefully witty retorts.
Thanks again from the Broiling AZ!
Thank you very much. I’ve been wanting to be able to post here for quite awhile.
cool! I’m in too now! I feel so important!
Finally!
I kept missing the open enrollments.
Well, I have made it now!
Welcome noobs. If you make it through the 90 day probationary period, 30 pcs will show you the secret handshake
Already know that handshake. Found it in the East somewhere…
Wonder what the troll ratio is..
With room for not one, but THREE of your favorite rifles, yesssir.
Hello all. So glad to be part of this community!
I simply had to sign up for the blog that the Kossacks think is the “worst.” My dear, you are in a class by yourself!
::chuckle:: Seeing as how we’re coming up on the Dem’s Convention and then the Presidential Election (and we still don’t know what Billary is up to)
…..I’d say the odds are good that we’ve got a few more than our fair share. Mebbe we’ve got a few that’ll send us those “warning letters.”
In any event, welcome aboard, new folks!
Welcome to town, ye new denizens of Michelleville!
We also provide secret decoder rings to help in understanding liberals. Problem is, even with the ring, the liberals still don’t make any sense.
Good to be in the company of you good folks. Thanks Michelle.
One of the reasons I spend a lot less time at Hot Air (the ratio is too high)… hope it doesn’t happen here.
Thanks Michelle! Waited a long time for this opportunity. Semper Fi!
Michelle, ban trolls early and often.
Thanks for the opportunity. It will come in handy!
Regards!
Is that the one and only Atlas Shrugged.
Not that anybody is going to read the 266th comment…but glad to be able to post. Thanks Michelle
Hey, I finally made it! I start everyday with this blog. Thank you Michelle for all you do!
Thanks. I for whatever reason wasn’t able to log in prior…..
WOW. Made it. Thanks, Michelle
MES401067, probably not the same one. I have been a big fan of Michelle’s site and did not see another Atlas Shrugged, so I used that name because I think the book depicts the country’s and our (conservative/hardworking) current situation. Semper Fi!
Well, in these parts, some really heated comment convos don’t get even rolling until at least 300, ausgolfer. Of course, those are often of “Is not! – is too!” genre, lol.
Welcome aboard.
God Bless Michelle Malkin
Gotcha.Well good to meet you and I think your spot on with the name. And I to have been waiting to join this site for some time now cheers.
Welcome to those that have joined the fold!
One way to tell is to click a commenters’s name – if s/he has a website their name will be a link to it. So ya got a diff Atlas (diff gender also, I believe) shrugging here, MES.
I just want to say thanks to everyone who gave me kudos and to reciprocate to all the vets, their families, and those who support the military.
BTW – I got out in 2004 and came back to Iraq as a contractor so I am not doing the heavy lifting these days. What I can tell those who are interested is that I talk with many Iraqis everyday in my capacity as a procurement officer (company name left out) and Iraqis are happier now. The level of violence has dropped immeasurably and mortars are almost a thing of the past.
When is Michelle visiting Camp Liberty again? Now, that is the most important question because everybody around me, with few exceptions, is a fan. What do you expect from so many Conservatives in one place? Of course, we are also fans of Mark Levin because his podcasts are free and podcasting is the only way we can listen to radio in this environment. I heard Michelle on his program last week so I know she would approve.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Michelle! I’ve been waiting for the opportunity. Already today, I have taken advantage of my new status by posting a couple of comments. More to come…
And thanks to all the veterans for the warm welcome
)
Purplepeep thanks for the heads up.
I’ve made it to the big time!!!!! Finally an outlet to put down what I have been screaming at the t.v. all election season.
Welcome all you MM fans. About party food: how about Moon Pies and RC Cola?
I’ve been wanting to join for ages and always missed the registration. I’m glad I was finally able to join.
Welcome, I got in last time….as Michelle said, quite awhile ago.
I’ve been waiting forever to say this….lgm ..you’re an a$$ !! I feel better now. Thanks Michelle.
Thank you, thank you thank you! My monitor thanks you too, as it grew tired of the shouted comments I was unable to add.
MES401067, back at you. Thanks!
purplepeep, you are right, different gender than Ayn Rand. Semper Fi!
Thanks Michelle!
I feel like I know some of the old timers here because I’ve been reading your comments for months. Thanks Michelle for the chance to register. I’ve been wanting to post a comment since you shared with us about your children on…….Mothers Day I believe. That was so special. Your kids are blessed to have a courageous and intelligent mother like you. We are blessed to have you too. Thank you verrrrrrrrrrrry much!!!
backwoods (#242): I think it was one from the batch that phillypanda offered at 9:09 am. I found it sitting on top of the garbage. The collie probably did me a favor.
Thanks for opening it up!
Glad to be part of the family!
Hi misscheryl, I live in Edmond, Oklahoma. Glad to see more Okies here.
been waiting to join this awesome community for a while…thanks Michele for opening it back up!!!!
My collie says:
Yer welcome – if you have a blog or site to promote, just add to your profile info and it’ll show up as a ‘name-link” when you comment. (Links show up as bold reddish-purple in comments too, btw).
Actually, I was evoking the well-known blogger Pamela Geller there, Shrugger. Her blog is called….well….Atlas Shrugged
I’m not among their proud ranks, but you’ll find more than a few fine jarheads in these parts!
So this is what it’s like to be one of the “Chosen” – oops, isn’t that copyrighted by BHO??!
Hello everyone.
By the way, just to introduce myself:
I own several firearms (love living in Missouri, the state which no longer requires permits to own a handgun!) I enjoy the occasional cigar (even in public), I write fiction that doesn’t conform to the current preference for America bashing, and when I heard about the People’s Republic of California banning trans-fats, I ate a twinkie in silent, gooey protest for my brothers and sisters. Oh, and I’ve already ordered my custom noseplug for voting McCain.
Glad to be in the loop. Thanks for the help SeeDubya.
