    Ah, well, then you’ll meet all sorts – even in here where sometimes good folks can have at it tooth and nail on any given topic.

    I think most folks would agree “this isn’t the America we knew”. ( I channeled Obama for that line, heh). It’s not nostalgia, it’s more we just threw too many babies out with the bathwater.

    I believe we have a few USMC lifers hereabouts. My oldest bro was a USA lifer as an MP. For those who have what it takes it is a life well-lived.

    I tend to shorten folk’s handles, at least I didn’t go with “AS” this time. I agree that “Shrugger” has a pleasant ring.

    I think it’s mostly the tax issues where SD scores some points.

    I didn’t even mind so much when the DFL was made up of just your garden variety Dems and liberals way back in the day. But now it’s driven by fringe lunatic PCness, Nanny-Statism and other ever-increasing goofiness. That wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t have such immense political power in MN.

    But with McCain in striking distance of Obama here where he should be a massive underdog I believe it shows the populace is still more independent than either party would like.

    To answer your questions, “No” to both, I’m afraid. I’m an American of Cuban descent. I decided I’d try (”try” being the operative word) to turn my hobby of goofing off on the Internet into a money-making venture so I incorporated (actually, I created an LLC) and I pulled the name “curioZities” (I deliberately capitalize the “Z”) out of a hat for my company name.

    In case you’re wondering, the “money” part of my so-called “money-making venture” has yet to materialize. Which is why I haven’t quit the day job yet.
