I’m still confused. If the restrictions are set to expire in October, and George Bush is in favor of eliminating them, then it should be a shoo-in. If the do-nothing Congress somehow becomes a do-something Congress and extends the restrictions, won’t Bush simply veto the legislation? If so, then I don’t understand why we should be demanding a vote on a compromise bill that gets us something much less/worse.

Because should Obama take the White House they could simply reinstate the ban in January, while passing a law allowing drilling would last much longer.

Of course Nine Percent Nancy has no intention of passing any drilling bill that actually allows drilling where there is oil.

Exactly! The only domestic drilling bill Nine-Percent-Nan will approve is one that doesn’t actually allow any drilling, but enables her to pretend like she isn’t blocking drilling. Which just so happens to be Obama’s strategy as well.

Now here is another issue just waiting for Republicans… biofuels have been a DISASTER! They are the major cause of the worldwide food crisis, they are responsible for 75% of the hike in food prices, people are rioting, people are going hungry, farmers are growing food for liberals gas tanks instead of for people, they are worse for the environment, rainforests are being razed to plant crops to grow for biofuels, species like the orangutan are on the verge of extinction, and they may even take more energy to produce than they give in MPG…. yet here the Democrats are still calling for more. Republicans should jump all over this.

They ARENT all good for the environment, NONE of them are cheaper for the consumer, or we’d be using them already, and sorry Nan, they aint gonna reverse global warming (and the globe has been cooling the last 10 years anyway!)

We give them money to drill there. But we get very little in return.

You don’t give them a dime! you don’t have any money! You simply confiscate LESS of what you are taking from them. You are still confiscating billions more than they make in profit, and we GET an economy that is the envy of the world, which runs on oil, in return.

So I think as we have this debate, which is a very healthy one to have and I welcome it
