When I first glanced at ABC News blogger Jake Tapper’s post this morning calling on his readers to count the number of young, white women in the latest McCain ad — because, you know, showing Obama with young, white women is RAAAAACIST — I thought it was a clever parody of nutroots racial paranoia.
But no, it seems he was perfectly serious. And his unhinged commenters took the warped ball and ran with it:
McCain’s campaign is so blatantly racist it isn’t funny. They obviously are employing Spike Lee’s theory of fear of the big black johnson.

Glad to see you catching on, Jake. Of course they’d feature white girls as a code for “black man wants your white daughter.” This is not rocket science, it’s subliminal messaging 101.
When McCain chose (he is responsible for any actions of his staff) Paris and Britney as two celebrities in the “Celebrities” ad when Oprah and Tiger are the two most well-known people in the U.S. while Paris and Britney are approach has-been status, you know it’s because comparing Obama with two amazingly talented black persons doesn’t convey the message intended. With Paris and Britney, “sex with white women” is the message. With Oprah and Tiger the message would be “Jeez, black people are brilliant.” Not the message McCain particularly wants to convey.
We are talking about dog whistles and coded racial messages. It’s blatant and it’s real.

The ad was pulled, but not because of the Leftist grievance-mongering. As Allahpundit notes, incompetent or oblivious boobs in the McCain campaign infringed copyright by including a clip of Wayne’s World in the ad.
But back to the subject at hand: If Tapper wants to play racial bean-counting games and make insinuations of bigotry based on them, let’s turn the tables.
How many black on-air reporters and marquee bloggers and “senior national correspondents” does ABC News have covering the presidential campaign?
Searching…high…and low…can you find them?
And what does that say about the attitude of ABC News towards black reporters? Huh?
I infer that ABC News believes black reporters are not as capable as white reporters!
I infer that ABC News is subliminally instructing its audience to distrust non-white journalists!
I infer that ABC News management does not believe that black faces are as attractive as white faces!
I infer that ABC News hates diversity!

The McCain campaign’s point, juvenile as it may have been, hit on overexposure of vapid celebrities. If you wanted to stretch a conspiracy theory, maybe they were sissifying Obama by comparing him to “starlets”. They’re was nothing racist about the ad. Stupid crap like this is going to cost Obama the election. You’d have to have a very bizarre mind to see the stupid celebrity ad and, imagine some sexual Mandingo-osity involving Obama, and the blond bimbos. This is all stupid.
I knew there was a reason I wanted to hide my daughters every time I see Obama on TV. Well if I had any daughters, but McCain’s advertising is so powerful I want to have daughters just so I can hide them! This is obviously way too deep and diabolical for McCain himself, I suspect Rove and Cheney…
It is the liberal-Democrats that keep the racial issue going. To me it would seem a compliment that McCain people couldn’t find two black people that were the airheads that Britney and Paris are.
The cynicism — and dare I say, projection — on display by Tapper and his commenters is one of those things that I simply have to see to believe.
It’s beyond bizarre and to the pathological to be hovering constantly, eternally on the lookout for “racism” — especially when the only certifiable racists in sight are the people eagerly anticipating the next opportunity to point at someone else and exclaim, “Racist!!”
But it’s par for the liberal course. Totalitarians who say they hate totalitarianism; intolerant and close-minded types who are too fond of citing their own “tolerance” and “open-mindedness;” and people who find racism under every rock and behind every tree, who can’t understand why this society can’t get over racism.

Chosing two celebries who actually accomplished something — such as Oprah and Tiger — would have sent exactly the opposite message. Like duh.
And let’s be clear: if McCain had chosen a vacuous black celebrity for the spoof, he would be excoriated for “racism” by the same clowns now accusing him of racism for using white celebrities.
Spoofs and advertizements are sort of like Rorschach tests: what you see reflects who you are. People like Tapper who see subliminal messages in McCain’s spoof trying to scare voters into thinking “a black man wants your white daughter” are only showing that they are afraid of such things.

I find it funny that many in the MSM will accuse people who vehemently oppose gay marriage and gay rights as being closeted homosexuals.
Yet if this were true, wouldn’t it apply to those left wing whites who constantly see racism in every aspect of life. Maybe deep down they are closeted racists and see things that we don’t.

EXACTLY! It’s about time someone pointed this out. The McCain Paris/Brit ad is NOT an ad decrying Obama’s “celebrity”…it decries vapid celebrity, i.e. being famous for being famous. Obama is an empty suit and has no accomplishments to qualify him for the job he seeks.
That is why the Obama’s responsive ad criticizing McCain for being a “celebrity” is so off the mark. Merely “being a celebrity” is not the problem.
Arguably, Paris and Brit are more qualified for what they do or want to do than Obama is for the job he seeks! Paris is eminently qualified to be a bubble-headed trust fund shopaholic who occasionally takes lousy movie roles (professional or otherwise). Similarly, Brit is eminently qualified to be a

It seems that liberals are disappointed that the Republicans have not injected race as an issue, so they need to fabricate a theory to make sure that they can play the race card. What is so sad, is Tapper almost made McCain’s point for him. Tiger (an athlete more than a celebrity) and Oprah are exactly what Obama is not – experienced; the best in their chosen field.
I would also argue, that Spears and Hilton would disagree about being has-beens.
It’s not about sex. Unless that is the only way you can defend Obama. Which should be proof enough that something is missing.

To be fair, Obama’s race problem began when the Rev. Wright tapes surfaced. This was Obama’s fault. Up until that point he was like Will Smith, Oprah, or Tiger. If more tapes surface in October, he’s toast. If the tapes broke out prior to Super Tuesday, Hillary would be the nominee. Now Trinity Baptist is mostly in the rearview mirror, but echoes linger. I do agree that the media is usually often fixated on race. The more this election is about race, the less likely Obama’s chances of getting elected are. The topic is exhausting and boring on a national level. The vast majoriy of people simply don’t care about race, and don’t want to obsess over it.
While some of you are dreaming about doing nasty things to the Code Pink babes, I dream about dividing up the U.S. into conservative and whackjob states. Guess who’d come out on top.
Conservatives would get to govern with commonsense. Imagine looking at situations in black and white — like they did in the “greatest generation.” There would be no or an extremely low flat tax.
