Obama’s mandatory volunteerism starts NOW!
Obama worshipers may already be feeling a bit of buyers’ remorse.
Turns out that those who snapped up free tickets to his big convention speech at Invesco Field will have to volunteer for six hours. And they’re whining about it to the press.
ABC7 in Denver reports:
The Obama campaign has begun notifying people who got tickets for the big acceptance speech at Invesco Field the final night of the convention.
Many of those who received tickets told 7NEWS they have come with a caveat.
Those viewers said the campaign told them they must volunteer six hours for the campaign by Friday in order to get a ticket.
“I got a call that if I want the tickets I have to volunteer two shifts of three hours apiece — for one ticket. If I want two tickets, then it’s four shifts of two hours apiece,” said Berenice Christensen.
Another 7NEWS viewer sent an e-mail that said, “I received a call Monday saying I could ‘qualify’ for the tickets if I do 12 hours of volunteer work for the Obama campaign between now and Friday the 15th.”
The viewer e-mail goes on, “To work 40 hours at my job, get to and from work, get to and from the campaign office and complete the 12 hours in three days would be next to impossible.”
But I thought holier-than-thou Obama followers were so much more giving and compassionate and civic-minded than the rest of us?
Nope:
“My whole reason why I’m so mad about it is because Democrats need to act like Democrats,” said Heather Kreider, a working mother from Centennial.
“Democrats work for a living, and they have to work and take care of their families. And they say these are open to those in the community, so they shouldn’t ask people to drop everything in their lives for this,” Kreider said Tuesday.
Guess she won’t be making the Big O gesture with the rest of the cult.

The funny thing is, even if they volunteer their six hours, they have no guarantee that they get a ticket. I imagine there will be some very annoyed Obama supporters.
And the next step, to prove yourself worthy of The One’s Love, is to sign over all of your worldly assets to him.

Next is the picnic at the reeducation camps that were so popular in Communist countries once they achieved victory. It is all the same codespeak and we should be wary whenever they speak that way. Ultimately, everyone is a pawn to these people and the only Have’s in their society will be for those on top. Scary stuff if you really think about it.
Those people should do what the bigwig Obama activist at my law firm does: work on campaign stuff on company time! Kill 2 birds with one stone.

Well I have a couple of observations. If Obama is going to require that participation then that is a in-kind contribution. Are they going to record it. Since the tickets really aren’t free but must be paid for in labor does the Obama campaign or the DNC have a concessioner’s license with the city to sell tickets? Since labor is being exchanged for tickets are taxes being collected? Not only that but at the exchange rate these are expensive tickets. If I had to ‘pay’ 12 hrs of service at my bill rate that’s almost $500.

I spent some time with one of my clients yesterday, a retail business owner and BIG supporter of His Most High Obamaship. Knowing I’m conservative, he immediately wanted to talk politics. Even though it’s never a good idea to talk politics with a client, especially one whose views differ from your own, we discussed McCain/Obama.
He talked about how he liked O (he’s smart!). I then asked what he thought of His Most High’s plan to raise taxes on everything, everybody and every business. He said that wasn’t a certainty yet. I pointed out that the Bush taxes cuts would expire in 2010, and everybody would immediatley lose some of their disposable income, a portion that they would have to make up for by cutting expenditures. He just waved a hand and said, aw, it won’t be THAT bad!
His business (and mine, for that matter) will be one of the hardest hit by tax increases, as it focuses on very espensive high end consumer goods. As taxpayers fork over more of their dough to the government, they will be spending less on the products we sell.
I for the life of me don’t understand how a business owner who daily has to jump through the hoops placed in front of him by all levels of govenment, who sends checks to every government bureaucrat at every level on a weekly basis, could vote for a Democrat.

Couldn’t this be considered coercion? The exchange of campaign gifts in place of volunteer service? That doesn’t make you a “volunteer,” that makes you a compensated employee except that you weren’t paid in cash, instead you are given payment-in-kind.
“Official” campaign donors work the system in the opposite direction all the time – Hollywood actors “perform” or sing/dance at an event where the patrons are expected to make a political donation to the candidate hosting the event.
So, if I make $50/hour and I “volunteer” 12 hours of my time, that means I just donated $600 to Obama’s campaign. Makes sense, if I hadn’t “volunteered” he would have had to spend that money elsewhere. This way he doesn’t have to touch that dirty money of mine yet he gets the benefit of my time directly.
This is worth investigating.
How many Obama delegates have to take exception to this for the guest of honor to change? Expect Hillary to announce shortly that she doesn’t believe in displacing union workers with ‘volunteers’. Game, Set, Match!

mandatory volunteerism has been a Democratic goal for years. The Hitler Youth, Red Brigades, Mao’s Little Red Book and Red Guards all appeal to them. Control is an end in itself. Yes mandatory volunteerism is a contradiction, that is what Democrats do.

The original Colorado tickets sign up page (not the current waiting list version) says: “Come in to one of our Colorado Campaign for Change field offices and complete two three-hour volunteer shifts before Friday, August 15th and you will qualify for an opportunity to receive All-Star Credentials.” There is a check box to request to qualify for All-Star Credentials.
So if the system worked correctly, the people being asked to volunteer said they wanted to.
However, the focus of reports has been on being required to volunteer. But notice that the volunteers aren’t spending their time/money in exchange for tickets. It’s a raffle, not an exchange. The volunteers don’t get tickets, they only get a chance for tickets.

This raises a huge number of questions.
1. How is anyone “volunteering” if the work is required? It’s like calling taxes “voluntary contributions”.
2. Aren’t the tickets being given for some value received (i.e. “work”)? If so, how is it being accounted for within the campaign? Does it count as a campaign expense? Is the work considered a donation? (perhaps services, or “in kind” services”). Doesn’t this have to be accounted for?
3. If the tickets are to be considered “pay”, what about source deductions, workers compensation, minimum wage issues etc.?
4. if it’s not considered pay, but is not “volunteering” aren’t we into a strange area…required work without compensation? Hmmmmm

Lets see…invesco seats 75000. If everyone
buysvolunteers for ONE ticket, that would 450000 hours of free service for Obama in the NEXT THREE days. If everyone buys TWO, that would be 300000 hours.So, respectively, that is 150000 to 33333 volunteers PER DAY for the next three days. I don’t think they thought through their infrastructure capacity for that. Must be “bring your own toilet” day at Obama HQ.
Plus, the whole thing has a “5 times a day” and “72 virgins” quality to it.
The Obama campaign said that as a show of “crossing the aisle” they would be giving tickets to registered Republicans as well as Democrats. I sign up for one of those tickets but now am being asked to volunteer! Like I’m going to help! Maybe I should have said yes and sabotaged from within…
