As for the topic at hand, I am not even going to bother answering any nonsense that suggests treatment of modern Christian women is even remotely akin to treatment of modern Muslim women. Anyone who honestly believes such drivel isn't worth the time.

My minor was in Women's Studies (two majors English and History) and sometimes I have a hard time not yelling at women in hijabs to throw off the chains of their oppressors--it just overcomes me and I have to bite my lip--the worst are the ones totally covered while their husbands and sons barely have shorts and shirts on--in the Middle Tennessee heat and humidity
My fundamentalist Christian relatives show ankles--they just don't wear overly revealing clothes and a few cut their hair--One of them (dead now) used to be one of those girls that walked on the wings of bi-planes in the 20s/30s

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought Jesus said the commandments could be boiled down to “Love God, Love your neighbor as yourself”. Don’t see the gender inequality.

I think you'll just have to put him down as a closet Rusty. So far their talking points have been very closely mirrored. Calls himself a "skeptical conservative" and a "Christian" but everything he has spoken on in his short 1 day since joining this blog has proven contrary to that. He also has a really really hard time understanding the whole hate the sin love the sinner part of it. The whole respect but don't coddle and condone thing flies right over his head. Trying to describe to him that I could show compassion to illegal aliens by (like what my church already does) helping build a food and water shelter a few miles back on the Mexican side of the border for those who have been turned away so they don't die in the desert is compassionate. But at the same time pushing for legislation that gets more of them deported immediately and for tougher laws on businesses that are using them to avoid paying taxes and breaking the law and pushing for a fence (a real one with guards that are not hand tied by our government's pandering to Mexico). But hey, he's only been here a day. Maybe he'll do better with a little more practice :D

It's a little late, but I have to get into this discussion. Since I've lived in the South most of my entire, long life, I'm qualified to ask you this question:

Sugar, have you just completely lost your mind?

OMG! Gender inequality.. no way!

WAY DUDE. Its inherent in the physical makeup (literal, not additive).

What the left fails to realize is the actual TRUTH of physical, emotional and chemical differences (from bone mass, bone development, hormones, muscle mass and etc). A little physical hack job and changes in external appearance can not, and will not ever change the gender of an individual.

But..back to the topic at hand...:)

Christianity can only be compared to the radical muslims when one remembers the Crusades or our own country's shame of witch hunts that resulted in burning people alive.

Yes, unfortunately some radical Americans once performed these heinous acts in the name of religion, but have since learned of the greater good of compassion, patience and respect for an individuals right to have their own beliefs as long as they do not harm or interfere with the rights of others.

I have no problem with stopping radicals from harming the innocent even if it means using our military force. As an innocent victim of radical abuse, I can empathize with the victims of radical Islam and do everything within my power to stop them, even if it means bloodshed.

What did you expect from an angry muslim? There was no way he was cutting up his Powerpuff Girls shirt.

BTW, sausage needs to come to South Beach to see all of the fundamentalist women frolicking.

Hey, I'm still slack jawed about something that I saw in
Forwarded Funnies August 4, 2008 called a red neck
tank top. Apparently, even women from Alabama have
to improvise once in a while. She was wearing a pair
of men's briefs ( heather or denim blue in color),
backwards, with the crotch cut out ( for her neck and
head to fit through). This was a picture of a woman,
in Alabama, leaving one store ( a Wal Mart, I think) and
heading for a flea market. One of my counselees
brought it in to show me.
