Update: our ladies just took gold and silver in the all-around. Take that China!

During the competition, I sat there, crossing my fingers, even pacing through the last exercise when the last three competed. I guess I would not make a good sports parent.

When I looked at the two Chinese gymnasts, I’m still not convinced that those girls are 16. Yes, I know that there are people who look young for their age but I mean these two Chinese girls don’t seem to have experienced puberty yet.

As someone who is often mistaken for younger than 33, it can get pretty annoying. Especially if you don’t want to be confused with the students that you’re trying to teach.

If a 10 or 12 year old can defeat 16 – 20 year olds then go for it kid! If the best in the world is 10, then the best is 10. What kind of sport is this anyway when a 10 or 12 year old can dominate?

Lets watch some football. American football not that lame foreign soccer stuff.

The American Women’s team has a good shot at a medal. Worth watching,
though I prefer to watch my own daughters play the game.

Are the rules different for individual competition than they are for team competition? NBC just presented one of the chinese gymnasts as age “15″.

They only have to turn 16 during the calendar year of the of the olympics. They don’t have to actually be 16 by the start of the olympics. (Not that I think that they are actually 16 though.)

Is anyone surprised? This Olympics was going to be a showcase of China no matter how much they cheat. I knew this when they were “awarded” the Olympics 8 years ago.

The Olympics has been a sham for years – why the hysteria now? Only the US and the UK has to play by the “rules”. For every other nation … NOT SO MUCH.
