Woo-hoo: Judge lets Kwame come to Denver without monitoring bracelet
Look out, Barack. Your old friend and pledged superdelegate, corruptocrat Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, is coming to Denver for the Democrat National Convention.
A judge in Michigan is not only allowing him to travel, but has freed Kilpatrick from his electronic tether. The judge believes it’s important for the city of Detroit for the embattled Kilpatrick to appear at the convention. Seriously:
As the Wayne County Prosecutor rushes to the the Michigan Court of Appeals trying to overturn a judge’s ruling allowing Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to attend the Democratic National Convention, the Free Press has just learned that the judge who approved the trip has imposed stricter travel restrictions on Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
AdvertisementWayne County Circuit Judge Leonard Townsend earlier this morning ruled that the mayor may attend the Democratic National Convention in Denver later this month and may take off his electronic tether, but in a decision that may surprise even Kilpatrick’s attorneys, Townsend said the mayor otherwise may not leave Wayne County.
…Townsend’s unexpected move set off a furious objection by assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Lisa Lindsey.
“We’re going to strenuously object,” she said, adding that Thomas’ request broke a private deal Kilpatrick’s lawyers struck with prosecutors.
Townsend rejected all of her arguments, saying the mayor arrived in court before he did and was not a flight risk.
“He wants to be here as much as the people” want him here, Townsend said, adding that it was important to Detroit that the mayor attend the convention.
He then went further, ordering the removal of the tether the mayor has worn since Friday. As Lindsey continued to argue, Townsend said “I think you’re losing your composure.”
Flashback: The Kwame Obama used to know– “doing an outstanding job of gathering together the leadership at every level in Detroit to bring about the kind of renaissance that all of us anticipate for this great city.”

Wow! I believe I’ve heard all there is to hear, now.
He’s been through so much! Yup. And every bit of it was self-inflicted. No sympathy for you, Kwame.
30 pcs – you took the words right out of my mouth. This whole situation is incredible!
All I can add for the moment is an appropriately sarcastic “go figure”.
Me thinks there was some contributin to someone’s bankbook…
Fixed that for ya’, Obama.
Seriously though, the article claims Obama lauded Kwame with these statements just 3 months ago. That’s really bad.
BTW, who’s the judge? A family friend or a Clinton appointee?
Kilpatrick loses the tether (around his ankle?), Obama gains an albatross around his neck.
Waiting lgm to come to Kwame’s defense in 3… 2… 1…
Michigan and the people of Detroit are sick of Kwame and his thugocracy. Who attends the Dem convention will say more about Obama than anything else. Like my old man used to say “if you sleep with dogs you’ll get fleas”.
Waiting for lgm to come to Kwame’s defense in 3… 2… 1…
That’s one heck of a renaissance. Houses are going for a $1.
A thug mayor for a thug city. They’re made for each other. He’ll fit right in with his fellow Democrats.
If I had to guess, I’d say yes.
And if you sleep with marxist polygamist, you get Obama.
Guess Judge Townsend figured his decision made sense considering the Democratic Party’s obsession with the rights of felons, murderers, abortionists, Gitmo detainees and other purveyors of radical Islamic terrorism, totalitarian regimes, etc, etc. He just wants to make sure their various constituences are well-represented. Further, any party insiders who dare to protest this ill-advised ruling will be promptly labeled “racist.” On the bright side, there may still be room under Obama’s bus now for someone else. Given Kwame’s impressive physical stature, he would’ve taken up precious space.
Maybe when the convention hall is full, they lock the doors and post guards.
That’s the Dems version of affordable housing!
He can’t leave Detroit, so judge orders tether removed??? Brilliant!
Now when the oppressed mayor is caught outside of Wayne county he can do what all good democraps do…ask for an investigation to prove it! And not to mention Wayne county is surrounded by the suburbs that are full of racists out to destroy the poor typical Detroit mayor, so any accustations outside of Wayne county are to be discounted as racist.
Then you need the National Guard to protect it.
And job creation at the same time!
I wonder if the ruling would’ve been the same had this guy been a Republican.
Yeah, right.
Actually, I’m all for it. Just goes to show you how corrupt the Democrats really are. Please expose these criminals on national TV.
How many convicts do we have attending the RNC Convention?
Another Obama chicken…
Heh! I ran across the TN GOP’s new video featuring Obama and Kwami last night.
The judge must be a Republican. That’s great; I hope they play the “thug as victim, race card”.
I’m old enough to remember when Detroit was a real city.
The criminal Kwame is a perfect symbol of the ruin that has befallen Detroit.
Detroit is the Gaza of Michigan. (Or is that Dearborn?)
A google search shows that many defense attorneys in Wayne County believe Judge Townsend to be too conservative!
Another article reports that Judge Townsend was robbed in front of his own house, in August of 2006, and had his cars stolen the next morning.
Detroit has one of the highest per capita murder rates in the nation, so maybe the judge thought he was protecting Kwame for future trial by sending him to Denver for a week.
I just viewed that Obama speech again. This guy will say anything, won’t he?
Birds of a feather flock together.
Huh? Since when does a judge get to make social commentary by interjecting his politics into a criminal proceeding? This guy needs to be reprimanded.
I see it happen a lot here, RD, and I’m in East Tennessee, a far cry from the likes of Detroit.
Well, he may not have to wear the bracelet, but he’s still visibly crooked with the charges hanging over him. The only question is will the criminal charges really be an albatross, or a resume enhancer?
As for the bracelet, I see a photoshop in this guy’s future…..
Hopefully the doorman at the convention won’t let Kwame get past the velvet rope. Thugs and knuckleheads may not enter.
If you’re gonna be there, can you just nail him in the neck with a taser?
Does that mean they now have their keynote speaker back??? Boy, I was concerned about it…NOT
Hey, anyone know if Cold Cash Jefferson is going to be there?
The City and County of Denver should file an objection with Judge Townsend. After all, why should we be punished with Kwame’s presence?
Whats one more loser in the crowd or on the stage we won’t even notice like a pimple on an elephants ass.And whats sad is this is one more in the line of Obamas great friends and as always the best that humanity has to offer.
Isn’t there an age limit for Judges, quick! see if this Judge has a Chinese passport.
“We’re going to strenuously object,”Wayne County Prosecutor Lisa Lindsey said.
They’ll let Obama in.
That would be one empty building!
Isn’t Detroit like one of the most dangerous cities in the USA? Is this crook not a Democrat? Makes one go HMMMMMMMMMMMM
Kwame won’t be the only criminal there.
They’re actually having one speak.
It is not all that complicated or sinister:
The judge and people of Detroit hope he STAYS
I can’t wait to see what kind of hell Denver devolves into in a couple weeks. What, with all the marxists, leftists, commies, America-haters, pimp daddy mayors, common thugs and maybe a token old-line Democrat or two (too bad for them). Geez, every speaker has a MAJOR character/judgement flaw. They need to change the name of the party to US Socialist. Democratic is way out of line for this new “breed” of animal. Finally, just another example of a “judge” legislating from the bench. Detroit stinks as a city, Michigan stinks as a state. No offense to the real Americans still residing (trapped) there. This area of the country is the poster child for massive government failure (and stupid voters). Res ipsa.
Any guesses on how much money Detroit stands to gain if obummer gets elected? Kwame will be next to his best bud…bracelet or not.
Hopefully it won’t come to that. I’m hoping Dude just jumps bail, and takes off overseas. Maybe, he’ll lead some shady cartel in Europe or South America.
Go away Kwame, Go away! Clap Clap.
Chapoutier:
I didn’t click the link, but I’m guessing you’re quoting A Few Good Men. I still watch scenes from that film to get charged up for a big trial. To Kill a Mockingbird and Verdict also serve as inspiration.
I strenuously approve of your reset here.
LOL, fair enough. i’d take that scenario just as fast
How can anyone in their right mind say that letting this crook go to Denver, is good for the City.
A crook no matter where he is. Is still a Crook.
ROFLMAO
It will be interesting to see if the MSM broadcasts any images of this guy. As for the Marxists, anti-Semites, & general intolerant haters that are steadily moving from the Left’s fringe into the base, there will be NO coverage of their activities. Maybe we can sponser the zombietime guy to go to Denver.
Maybe we aren’t looking at the judge’s true intent. Perhaps, when he intimated that it was “important to Detroit that the mayor attend the convention“, he was meaning there would be less crime in Detroit, if this known criminal were out of town for at least the short duration of the Dem’s convention? Maybe his intentions were noble and taking into consideration the best interests of Detroit?
Barry, lol, kinda like the way San Franfreakshow sends their criminal illegal drug dealers to a safe half way house to Southern Cal.
I think this is good for the Republican Party. The Democrats allow felons to appear at their convention.
But, why are they letting this guy go, but John Edwards is persona non grata?

I’ve always kinda liked My Cousin Vinnie in the courtroom genre.
Interestingly, My Cousin Vinnie is one of the more accurate portrayals of how an actual trail proceeds. My Crim Pro teacher made us watch it in class.
Love that flick and, don’t you think the stuttering attorney looks just like lieberman?
…so many great courtroom scenes. I would love to end my career with a meltdown like this:
vinny scene, stuttering lieberman.. lol
Obama, Soros, Edwards, the Clintons, Pelosi, Reid – Kwame will fit right in.
He’s not missing a pound of cyanide is he?

“Dead-on, balls accurate?”
And the taxes on that $1 house – $3900 a year. That’s really the Dems at work. Junker house totally thrashed, but tax the heck out of it.
Another judge has ordered the tether put back on, and for our Thug Maya to stay in the tri-county Detroit-area, meaning he can’t go hang out with his fellow criminals at the DNC. Darn. I was hoping our crime rate would go down after we exported Kwame.
Thats exactly what was running through my head when the quote. I just watched the movie a couple of weeks ago.
Every time I watch it, I still always hope that Col. Jessep wins and kicks Tom Cruise’s rear. And then gets his buddies in Washington to reaassign Tom to bilge duty instead of Flight Ops in the Indian Ocean, but I digress.
As far as I’m concerned, that is official legal confirmation that politicians are above the laws they make. I see no reason whatsoever why I should not be above those laws too.
/when the quote//when I read the quote/
Oh I see another judge has overruled the decision. So now will the original judge overrule the overruling? Got to love our impartial justice system.

Tamara Greene was unavailable for comment.
I can hear it now, “tonight’s speaker, Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, representing the criminal element of the democrap party…”
By the way, that screen cap is great, what a mug.
Did G. Gordon Liddy not RSVP?
Kwame is back on the tether.
Does Kwame qualify for all-star seating at Invesco Field?
From the Detroit Free Press…
Obama camp says Detroit mayor unwelcome in Denver
Aug 14, 2:26 PM (ET) By KATHY BARKS HOFFMAN
LANSING, Mich. (AP) – Democratic candidate Barack Obama doesn’t want the embattled mayor of Detroit on hand when Obama accepts the party’s presidential nomination in Denver.
A spokesman for Obama said Thursday that Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick would be a distraction if he goes to the convention as a superdelegate.
Kilpatrick faces eight felony charges in a perjury case and two felony charges in an assault case. A Michigan judge told Kilpatrick on Thursday that he could attend the convention. His lawyer, James Thomas, said high-ranking Democrats want Kilpatrick to attend.
But Obama spokesman Brent Colburn said in an e-mail that the focus of the convention should be on Obama and not on what Colburn called “the troubles of one individual.”
He’s a distraction all right. He got caught doing what all politicians do. He just didn’t have the benefit of any kind of training or the inteligence to use it. It’s that public school education again, I’m sure Harvard trains politicians to be better an not getting caught.
I met him once in college when he attended homecoming at my school and still have the envelope he signed to get the keys to his dorm room. I don’t know why I still keep it but it always makes me smile when I come across it.
BTW, he looked totally shady.
I think it’s important that he be seen at the Convention too.
If I had time I’d make some of those anklets and have a booth at Denver to sell them. I bet you could make a buck or two selling fake ones as the latest DNC fashion craze.
Convicts are sometimes allowed to attend funerals.
Smackdown time for Townsend. Great move.
He he going to hang with that fella who got caught with $90k in his freezer? They’d look good together.
