McCain meets with Big Windy

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 15, 2008 02:39 PM

John McCain met with T. Boone Pickens yesterday to hear the Big Wind sales pitch. Hey, why should Nancy Pelosi have all the Boone-doggly fun?

Hmmmmm:

T. Boone Pickens was waiting for John McCain in a small conference room at the Aspen Meadows Resort, where the two, according to Pickens, were going to be “talking about the Pickens plan.”

“We’re going to have a good visit,” he added.

Pickens, a famous oilman and one of America’s richest men, is now pushing a plan to drop the United States’ dependence on foreign oil and focus more on alternative energies including wind and natural gas. He said it had been two years since he had last met with McCain.

McCain entered the room alongside his campaign’s senior adviser Steve Schmidt and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. and greeted Pickens, who was dressed in a green blazer and tan pants with no tie.

“You’re looking trim,” Pickens told McCain as they engaged in some small talk. Pickens mentioned yesterday’s Census article in a newspaper about how non-Hispanic whites would no longer be the majority in 2042.

“You and I won’t have to worry about that,” Pickens said jokingly, referring to the age of the two men.

Ho-ho-ho.

Although he has long since left me in his dust, I was a geology classmate of Boone Pickens 57 years ago. Boone has been rich and Boone has been broke( but not lately)and prefers rich. Boone does not need any more money personally. He is giving away billions now instead of leaving it for the taxman.
Boone is driven by a need to make money.
He is a capitalist in a capitalist society and not the only person profiting from government subsidies.
The difference is: His plan will actually benefit America. Increased generation of electricity by wind power will reduce use of fossil fuels for that purpose and increased use of more abundant natural gas for conventional transportation where practical will make more crude oil available for gasoline, plastics and other crude based products.
The only thing that bothers me about Boone is his yucking it up with Obama and I will call him to task for that at the first OSU football game this fall.

i’m with armsnammo, drill, dig coal, create ethanol from waste, create biofuels from algae, build windfarms, build solar plants, build nuclear plants. buy more energy efficient appliances, cars, houses, and business buildings. but at the end of the day, why should any unprofitable system be subsidized by the taxpayer. if your energy source costs more to produce than it produces, it is a pipedream. the irs says it best, if your business does not produce a profit in at least 3 of 5 years, IT IS A HOBBY! we have been building and subsidizing alternative energy systems and vehicles for the last 3 decades. time for them to prove they are viable, because if not now when oil is $120 a barrel, WHEN? we have bankrupted the u.s. over the last 50 years subsidizing every left wing help the people, can’t we all just get along, it’s not your fault you dropped out of high school and had children before getting married, sure we can police the world, of course we will send aid to every catastrophe worldwide, and we will declare a catastrophe in the u.s. everytime california has an earthquake or forest fire, or florida has a hurricane, or tornado alley has a tornado, or the midwest flood plains have a flood, because the residents of those areas were SHOCKED SHOCKED to find this might happen and so didn’t insure adequately for it. time to man up and start taking care of your responsibilities, and quit asking for the taxpayer to carry your freight.
