Saddle up: Saddleback Forum open thread; Obama on abortion: “Above my pay grade,” attacks Clarence Thomas

For those of you watching the Rick Warren/Obama/McCain show tonight, here’s your open thread.
Watch online here.
Wake me up if anything interesting happens.
Like I said before, I’m not holding my breath…
***
Obama on abortion: It’s “above his pay grade.” What the…
Obama on which Supreme Court justice he wouldn’t have nominated: Clarence Thomas.
Disturbingly, commenters note, the Saddleback audience cheered.
RACIST!
(Update): Allah’s got the near-gaffetastic video of Obama’s Thomas remarks.
Mark Levin: “On Obama’s best day he can’t hold a candle to Thomas’s intelligence.”
***
McCain on when babies are entitled to human rights: “At the moment of conception…this presidency will have pro-life policies.”
Define marriage: “A union between a man and a woman. One man and one woman.”
Warren asks about California marriage preservation proposition and Calif. Supreme Court. “California Supreme Court was wrong.”

Ginsburg, first! Hallelujah!!!
Supreme court justices…as expected, Ginsberg was #1 named.
The first hour was like talking to a first grader, This hour it’s like a scholar.
BHO dodged the “why” question on which justices should go
Please. Just when I’m liking what he’s saying. my friends.
EXCELLENT comment on how justices should be picked.
Absolutely! Great analogy.
This is like Team U.S.A. vs a bunch of 13 year olds…. oh wait bad example….
Anyway, he’s kicking Odimbo’s butt.
Good answer on the faith based orgs.
Yes. No need for government help/control.
Seriously, the difference in the experience levels of these two men, not to mention their oratory gifts, is astounding. OMG.
The message is experience. That’s what his stories are intending to showcase.
This is very well orchestrated.
Good answers and good form.
BSR
Love the way McCain answers questions immediately and with surety. He knows what he believes and is unequivocal in stating his posiiton. Great!
Good one, aj.
Find bad teachers a better line of work!! Priceless!
McCain’s saying all the right things, and he’s talking about whom he’d nominate to the SC. But I’m reminded of what Mark Levin said on his radio show recently- he’s saying he’d nominate judges who’d completely disagree with his McCain Finegold Bill.
Kick out the BAD teachers… slam dunk!… Eat it NEA
Great teacher answer
find them another line of work
Yes get the teachers union out of the classroom
Major roar moment on the education issue.
Put bad teachers in another job.
School choice. Competition.
Finally! Substance on the education issue.
The crowd is pro- JOHN. For sure this is a win
McCain has not gotten much attention from the MSM….I can see why now…this forum is showing his strengths well…and Obama’s weakness well!
School Choice…bring it, McCain!
I haven’t heard one umm, ahh, err…
Choice and competition in schools – the civil rights issue of the 21st C. Excellent!!
Find bad teachers another line of work.
Choice in reproduction good?
Choice in schools bad?
The liberal POV on choice makes my head spin.
I’m glad he’s answering fast. Shows he believes it in his core.
“Out of the overflow of the heart…”
OK, the tax question now.
He’s owning this stage. He’s had Warren back on his heels a couple of times, now.
McCain – lights on, somebody’s home. He at least has an understanding of the overall scope of the questions. This is somebody conversant on the issues.
I’m impressed. He’s looks comfortable and confident. If you set aside the “my friends” I’d give it a ten.
BlameAmericaLast
I said that earlier too. I can’t believe the difference. Well I actually can, but you get my point.
I just had to join the party; this man, McCain, is hitting it out of the park big time compared to Obama’s pathetic bunts. No wonder Obama is afraid of the townhalls. I’ve had tears in my eyes a few times with McCain’s answers.
Great answers on the tax question.
Many, many examples.
Okay. This is why Obama won’t do Town Halls with McCain. He’d get creamed.
Yes! Doesn’t believe in redistribution of wealth, or class warfare. Yes! Keep taxes low! Tax credit to buy the healthcare of our choice. These are real solutions, real answers.
I’m listening to this debate, and I must say the immense depth and conviction coming from John McCain is so much in evidence, compared with the empty suit-sounding Obama. Obama deliberately misled that audience about his views on marriage. He claimed he believes it’s about man/woman, but failed to mention he desperately wants to overturn the national Defense of Marriage Act, signed by Clinton even. He forgot to mention he will do everything in his power to see that gay marriage happens. He hemmed and hawed about abortion.
Please, God, do not let Obama win.
YES YES YES !!!
Homeschooling, School Choice, Vouchers!
This is one of MY top campaign issues!
Everyone, check out
NHELD
They were the first to contact me for support
and I will be fighting for them.
GO, Johnny, GO !!!
$5,000 tax credit to pay for health insurance.. unfortunately if not administered, the irresponsible (read: mortgage bailout)) would spend it on themselves and expect health coverage anyway.
I’m sure that comment is going to be distorted he is wide awake.
BSR’s credit = 5X$7,000 = $35,000
Means BSR pays no more tax and invests more.
I’m good with that.
It’s not a problem with revenue; it’s a problem with spending! Yahoo!
Good JOKE 3million for DNA study of bears
He got it right…it wasn’t the taxes, it was the ridiculous spending going on for the past several years.
Gives example of the studying the DNA of bears.
Pretty laughable. But it’s true.
Yes.
He’s actually having a conversation.
Congress’ pay raise and a vacation. We should call ‘em back.
Cut taxes, increase tax receipts.
Any questions?
The Bear study was priceless.
I think the DNC may want to throw Barack under the bus now. Along with the rest of the folks that are waiting for him there.
“our best days”, Reaganesque and genuine
#297: Please, please register to vote. Look what Obama threatens to bring to the presidency—scary and thin on knowledge/experience! McCain is looking quite good in comparison!
He’s talking about out-of-control spending, and I agree. But he also voted against Bush’s tax cuts. I’m not happy with the way Bush has increased spending, but tax cuts are vital to a healthy society. Like I said a few minutes ago- he’s saying all the right things. But how long till he becomes the ‘Maverick’ again?
Hillary has her Obama voodoo doll out and using it:)
Unlike the comments from BHO about his dislike for this country. John actaully loves his country, and i don’t doubt that for 1 sec.
I hope the ‘bonus’ questions include immigration…
The reason he voted against the tax cuts was because there weren’t any spending cuts to go with it. That was the maverick thing to do at the time.
He changed his mind since then. But you saw him say again that the spending is the issue, and he’s right on that one.
I’m guessing Hillary is ecstatic right now… what a deal she brokered at the Dem convention… Can’t wait for that!
I wish the viewers could contrast the answers in real time. JSM is slaying BHO.
OMG! I haven’t supported McCain but I will sure vote against Obama. Not one forth right answer in the whole hour he was on, just ee.eeeee.eeeeee. err you know!
I think she won’t need it. I think she’s going to take the nomination in Denver, particularly if any of the so-called “super delegates” are watching this today.
BHO was pathetic. Would they dare trust him at even one of the three planned debates?
Maybe its the beer, but I am LOVIN’ this guy!!!
We still have immigration coming up, maybe…
so I’m going for more beer
BlameAmericaLast;
OMG, I hope they do throw BHO under the bus. Bring on Hillary or whomever you want. With Johns performance tonight, he will win.
this is what McCain did to Odopey…
just listen to the first two seconds,,,
wipe out.
lmao
Can you imagine the slaughter if these two were debating face to face? McCain would rip Obama not just one but several new a55holes! Obama just utterly outclassed.
Tim, pass me a brewski, won’t you?
Tim, I’m with you. Wish we had a wall, but he’s doing fine on all else.
Antacids are a big hit with super delegates right now.
Peggy Noonan’s words. Great choice.
Freedom isn’t free! Write that down and never forget it.
Sorry Mr. Soros, but you may have to wait another 4 years for your workers utopia…
“The most precious asset we have is American blood”.
Contrast that with the Dem’s most precious asset, which is Roe v Wade.
Good point.
*Grabs vodka & shot glass*
The fact that this sort of place is hostile territory for Obambi should tell everyone all they need to know about him.
With his church, bedfellows, and votes, McCain should slaughter this guy. Yet, I still fear our country has tipped too far the wrong way. We have more takers than givers, almost.
I hope it can be brought back.
Pick your battles. Don’t be an ostrich. Georgia… yes… Shut up Rick… let him address today’s issues
Incredible Rwanda not going to be forgotten. Darfur with a plan not a talking point. A throw away issue.
Maybe its because Obama spent his time saying “uh,” but it seems to me that McCain is hitting home run after home run. Clear, concise, and to the point. I am very impressed.
McCain is dominating the Pastor. As a potential leader of the free world might.
Pray pray pray.
At least he knows his history about Georgia.
Wonder if Barack can even point to it on the map!
Ask ET, it was HIS brilliant idea!
BTW, did you check outAnn Coulter’s
newest personal web site?
John talks about American responsibility to defend freedom – he doesn’t talk about waiting for the U.N. or the “international community.”
This is American exceptionalism. We’re the only ones who can and will.
BHO still thinks that Alabama invaded Georgia
Now now….Barack knows where Georgia is. It’s just north of Florida.
I just heard the guys in the white coats came and picked up Obama…..
he got destroyed tonight.
Yup. “is it a paternity issue?’ line got me with a mouthful of adult beverage that ended up on the monitor.
McCain’s on fire tonight.
AMEN- AMERICA must NEVER back down
I nominate the above as the best line of the night.
Rick Warren expecting something different when he went into this forum? This is not the McCain he was expecting?
Amen, Vicky.
I’ve known grace for quite some time in my life. Not like us Christians to ever give up hope. I’ve seen too much, but faith is the stuff of things unseen, isn’t it?
Sometimes I feel so blessed, it is overwhelming. God please continue to bless us.
To say that JC is in his element would be a gross understatement.
I missed BO’s BO, but from the comments, I have just one question: Where is Lysol as a sponsor when you need them?!
Yeah Barry was smoking dope, during history classes, so he thinks its the Georgia near that state called Florida. Duhhhhhhhhhh
Tim, thanks for the link. I’ll have to check that out later!
He is too old to risk waiting, he must destroy freedom NOW his ego demands it.
Things are going to get very very dirty or even worse. Soros is now a desperate man on his last leg. He has just learned how inept his BO is and how strong Mc can be.
“most unusual experiment in history” AMEN
here comes the orphan question again…
“I know what it means to be an American”, damn take that Barack!
INSPIRED
“Inspire a generation of Americans to embrace a cause that’s greater than themselves”.
BRING it, Johnny Mac!
Great elevator speech on “what I wanna be da prez”… our best days are ahead of us… BHO sees them behind us…
He wants to INSPIRE, barry, said he wants to emphatize?? hhhhmmmm
John McCain living the life, Obama has not experienced even a small amount of but Obama is the one that wants Americans to sacrifice, thinks he knows what is best.
Country first! Contrast that with Mr. I won’t wear a flag lapel pin to show my patriotism.
Reaching across the aisle… arghh… don’t end on that note.
