Saddle up: Saddleback Forum open thread; Obama on abortion: “Above my pay grade,” attacks Clarence Thomas

For those of you watching the Rick Warren/Obama/McCain show tonight, here’s your open thread.
Watch online here.
Wake me up if anything interesting happens.
Like I said before, I’m not holding my breath…
***
Obama on abortion: It’s “above his pay grade.” What the…
Obama on which Supreme Court justice he wouldn’t have nominated: Clarence Thomas.
Disturbingly, commenters note, the Saddleback audience cheered.
RACIST!
(Update): Allah’s got the near-gaffetastic video of Obama’s Thomas remarks.
Mark Levin: “On Obama’s best day he can’t hold a candle to Thomas’s intelligence.”
***
McCain on when babies are entitled to human rights: “At the moment of conception…this presidency will have pro-life policies.”
Define marriage: “A union between a man and a woman. One man and one woman.”
Warren asks about California marriage preservation proposition and Calif. Supreme Court. “California Supreme Court was wrong.”

Country first! Contrast that with Mr. I won’t wear a flag lapel pin to show my patriotism.
Reaching across the aisle… arghh… don’t end on that note.
Homerun
Wow. I’m impressed. I never thought I’d say that. I must pay more attention in the future.
Putting country first.
Nice closing line.
NO CONTEST!! ITS OVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
I have Never seen Mc in his element like this. I am impressed!
Now I must watch to see how them msm will spin this, should be a good laugh.
Crap. We never got to immigration. “Always put my country first” would be an easier pill to swallow if he wasn’t hanging out with Hernandez.
Good job, Senator.
Just talked about his daughter…wow. What a story.
Why do you want to be president?
Man, thank God for Youtube, the Internet, and blogs. I know the MSM will paint Obama as fantastic, but I just don’t see how McCain didn’t absolutely blow Obama out of the water.
“I’ll be the president of every American and I’ll put my country first.”
BINGO. Nailed it.
The last question was great. You totally know that the usual suspects are going to pitch a fit because this church made Obama look bad.
Standing ovation. I missed Obama – did they SO him, too?
screaming whistling ovation!!!
wow they cut the applause almost immediately.
purplepeep,
I am unexpectedly happy with all of John McCain’s answers. I really didn’t see him coming out so strong. He wins.
Not sure if Saddleback is a Christian church… hmmm
He’s still hanging around?
That was a fast hour, much faster than the 1/2 hr I saw of BO
McCain campaign – start marketing a “Country First Vote McCain” button. I’ll buy one!
They had to sell a pharmaceutical that shrinks the prostate, doncha know. At least that’s what they pitched to me on Fox News broadcast.
Civility…I wonder if Warren is talking specifically to the anti-religious left here.
And the winner is? NO CONTEST! it’s like taking candy from a baby. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER! JSM WINNER! Barry- LOSER!
lol
lol, mercy… ha!
fox is making excuse right now Odumbo had a long day coming back from vacation in hawaii ,,,, roflmao!
OOO Oboma was weak because he just had a vacation
thoughtful articulate and engaging? lol
Booo freaking hoo!
WTF? Now Campaign Carl is giving The Dunce a pass for jet lag? Did Soros buy Fox News when I wasn’t looking?
Above his pay grade…. hilarious!
I guess going first isn’t always the best position. I remember Hillary complaining about going first all the time. I wonder how many pins she has sticking in that doll right now
You would THINK if he was on vacation all week, he’d have all week to prepare.
Too much salt water in the ears I suppose from all the body surfing he was doing.
I can’t believe that was said….
still laughing.
I was unable to observe the majority of this event.
So I thank all contributers who gave the blow by blow…reminded me of a prize fight over the radio.
Open query: During the demo primary when Obama was perceived as being behind Hildebeast…He wanted more debates. When he was in the lead, so to speak, he refused the opportunity for additioal ones.
With this spectacle today does anybody think he will want more than the current three scheduled?
Wow, McCain was awesome, luckily for Obama, I’m assuming the TV ratings on this are not going to be very good. The MSM is gonna have to keep yelling about how Obama was “calm, reasoned, and measured in his responses.”
CNN isn’t making excuses so far
Had John come back from vacation, they would have bemoaned he had an unfair advantage… Am I watching CNN?
He’s tired after a vacation? Poor, poor baby!
Bottom line McCain mopped the floor with Obama.
allrsn, re: “Things are going to get very very dirty or even worse. Soros is now a desperate man on his last leg…”
I fully expect that Hillary will get the nomination after all… & he owns her butt too. But the fact that we know Soros’s name, means it is over… I wish more light was shed on him.
Madame Hostess, pretty please???
I think he cleaned the entire building.
Oh sorry, they just got the analyst out and they don’t look happy on CNN. You all should check em out.
so, he was lame tonight because he was tired from being in Hawaii? thats rich!
unbefreakinglievable!
All it would take is a nod for Soroz and Hillary is the nominee. After BO’s performance tonight that just might happen. The rose just wilted.
Tonight was a hands down win for McCain, to be sure. Let’s if he can keep it up.
They are calling Obama nuanced and that McCain was answering yes and no whats her name Crowely.
Sammon thinks that BHO’s abortion answer was his “one gaffe”. What the…?!? Was he watching the same broadcast we were watching??
Fox is replaying BHO’s abortion reply… reminiscent of NBC’s six replays of the fall from the pommel horse…
BO at home and comfortable then why could he not talk????
More then a couple of them look like they are going to cry. Obama had a conversation with Rick Warren nuanced. McCain was addressing the public and voters.
They had McCain out of earshot of the answers Obambi gave so that should have nullified the first/last advantage.
Well, it’s good to know Obama wasn’t exhausted from dealing with important issues like Georgia or anything…
The gaggle of CNN talking heads look like they just lost the Superbowl. Ha!
they did ….
I cannot believe the media are trying to make out Obama blew it because he’s tired from all the VACATION he just had in HAWAII. OMG if the dems swallow that crap, they deserves that idiot as president.
McCain is so very much more serious than Obama. And I don’t mean humorless. I mean real, and sincere, and meaningful.
The CNN folks are trying to add texture to Obama’s performance by calling it a conversation with Rick Warren and he wasn’t addressing the public like McCain.I guess Obama didn’t know all the news channels were going to televise this FORUM not a Conversation- Candy Crowley, and whoever that Dana person is, she looks like they just had a pow wow, and couldn’t come up with a metaphor for Obama’s answers stink.
gaggle of CNN: they just lost more than the superbowl, they may have lost their chance at advancing socialism.

It is a done deal… & it is spelled
SatanSoros…s not z.BHO spent his vacation looking for his birth certificate… no wonder he was exhausted.
Who’s yer daddy??
David Gergen over on CNN, admitting that, after tonight, BHO will have a much tougher time in the debates than anyone ever imagined.
Ooooohhhhh….winner winner chicken dinner is right, Mercy!
Could be Hill is not as big a yes person as BO, but at least she can think on her feet and articulate her thoughts. However ugly those thoughts are.
Oh now it is the candidate could relate to middle America emotionally but the pundit he isn’t happy to tell you, that it was McCain did just that.
The male pundits on CNN are grudgingly giving it to McCain.
lol!
make that could be, (forgot the comma)
vickisoup,
That is where the interesting coverage of the Forum is going on- CNN. Fox is going through some kind of motion. This was a big deal for CNN, they kind of put all their cookies in the Obama cookie jar.
Perhaps taking a vacation while you should be on the campaign trail wasn’t the wisest decision, huh, Obie?
That’s what happens when you allow your ego to get in the way.
Can’t wait for Rush on Monday.
exhaused from vacation???? Isn’t that bass ackwards!
You know you’ve been smoked when the first guy on Fox News is giving excuses for your ineptitude. Especially with that BS Hawaii crud…..
What would BO do if he was pres and just came back from a vacation and the wtc had been hit??? faint?
You know I have been making jokes about Denver and smoke rising August 28th. Now I am getting kind of nervous for Denver.
Brooklyn red , no kidding thats one show I can’t miss…… lmao!
vacation is ZERO excuse, not for a corp pres and certainly not for the usa pres.
It was as though BHO was merely “putting in an appearance”… as if he believed the deal was in and election is mere formality… I can’t wait for Denver…
Laura, too! Unless she’s still on vacation:(
I can just see rush dancing right now!!!!!
yes it’s an a.m. radio day for sure.
I wish I could get laura here
Obama telling the public that this isn’t an election about him it is an election about them. Then he reminds everyone that things are really bad and America is in decline.
They are trying to pigeon-hole you… ah-nah…who is it again that keeps playing the race card?
I take it McCain “won”.
Zorro, without question. Fox is still recapping the event.
Soros
Thanks
Yep McCain won.
Zorro, Mc kicked A S S!
Let’s not forget that Bush was also a “pro-life” president and abortion numbers certainly did not fall!
I was certainly saddened at the rapturous applause Obama got when he said marriage was not for those pesky gays. When will Americans grow up and stop persecuting gay people!?
Fact is, McCain looked 10x better than Obama…quibble if you want to, but McCain came across as someone who at least can think on his feet. Obama blew it on abortion and he was all over the lot on everything else. Do you think McCain saw the questions in advance, or heard Obama’s answers? He was sure primed.

internet, duh
yeah, some woman just spun his “evil” non answer….
Watching the Fox recap mentioned. Is the Dem analyst living in Bizarro world?
“O” was clever, confident and commanding? Sheez, give be a break already. McCain did good
Omu
When they recognize that marriage is between a man and a woman.
that should be: give me a break
CNN ‘Pundit’: “The Straight Talk Express definitely had a full tank of gas tonight!”
go here and you can listen….
laura
CNN isn’t even pretending ,they are giving it to McCain the Straight Talk Express with a full tank of gas. I kid you not they know McCain won.

less peeps under the bus gives better traction
Omu,
I worked with a open gay for 7 years, I then invited him to join my new busness, he stayed for 7 more years until he retired. I had NO problem with gays!
The the *&%&*()^$%###’s went after our jr hi and sr hi kids. My opinion changed! Leave our gullible kids A L O N E!!!
Well, I am very pleased McCain won. Really. As most of you know, I’m not a fan of his. It is good that he is perceived to be the winner. Can’t wait to hear/read Michelle and Rush’s take.
good night all…. This was great!
I almost did not watch…..so glad i did. Obama proved again he is NOT my candidate of choice.
McCain did a far better job than I could have anticipated.
Candy Crowely is going to try and make something out of McCain’s first marriage comment. But then she calls Obama’s admission of drinking and taking drugs his mis spent youth not mentioning the drugs or drinking. Puleeze we were listening to Candy Crowely GIVE IT UP.
