By Michelle Malkin  •  August 18, 2008 10:40 AM

Call it “educational.”

Maybe he’ll learn how to spell Colorado.

If it were my state, I’d file an Election Commission complaint. If he is that important to his Party, then the DNC should pay. If not, it should not come out of taxpayer funds to pay for a trip that the representative is too cheap to out-of-pocket himself.

At least he could be honest in his reason, and either put “Smoozing for more Guv’ment Cheese” or “Politicing to get my butt out’ta MS”.

From the information found on the linked invoice, it appears that Tyrone got his travel expenses ($1,760.00) up front on 8/14/08, a full week before the convention.

It used to be, in corporate America, we would have to show an authentic receipt before the good bureaucrats in Accounting would begin a 2 month process for a reimbursement.

I sure hope Tyrone uses his upfront $1,760.00 for actual travel expenses, and not for booze or something else you can buy with cash. But I am sure the good Democrats of Missouri thought about this already.

1760 for lodging is quite high. Even if he was spending a whole week, that’s more than $200 a night.

I live in Colorado. Most hotels are well below that price.

Hmmmm? Tyrone Ellis, a representative from Mississippi, staying at the Hilton Garden Inn.

The convention is August 25-28th. What is that, 4 nights? $1760 divided by 4 nights is $440.00 per night for “lodging.” Would it be safe to assume that includes the “special rates” for “government/military”, like the Hilton offers on its site for registering and the “group/convention code” discount?

Not a bad haul on the taxpayers’ back, huh?

It’s more like having your brain cells die off at an accelerated rate the more you are exposed to the DNC and the convention. But they don’t want educated and rational thinkers in their ranks anyway.

BUT, we at home, who think the convention may be the entertainment highlight of the summer, will expose our brain cells to a small amount of it on TV at a time. It should be fun - and I’m still pulling for Shrillary! : )

As a independent business owner and (unfortunately) a higher pegged taxpayer (you only pay taxes if you make money), I find the $1760 pretty steep for Denver. Remember, this is only for lodging.

Hopefully the education will be mainly on the 7 colors for food groups.

I am curious however, about what exactly the educational benefit is for an already “elected” member of the establishment. Shouldn’t he already be knowledgeable about the inner-workings of the political system?

This is nothing more than helping a “bro” attend the big par-tay, by bilking the taxpayer for some of the expense. I wonder if hookers are included in the funfest?

See? Right there’s a problem. Colorada is correct, as is Na-vah-duh. But its Mah-sur-EEEEEEE!!

    O/T
I love the Colorada “Pioneers” (5th generation locals) who think that everyone should go back to where they came from. And that they ‘hate’ Texans. Then I have to give them a history lesson, that they are really originally just Texans themselves (check the 1840 maps) and THEY should probably go back to where they came from. (My ski lift lines are too long!) ;)

Also as an FYI, to a lot of Southerners, a “Yankee” is anyone who lives north of you - even if north is only 5 miles away. And living in one town for 50 years does NOT mean you are ~from~ there.
