Obama VP choice: Will the pick be as whiny as The One?

Beltway buzz has the Obama VP announcement coming down tomorrow morning, just in time to distract from the campaign’s whininess about The One’s sad-sack performance at the Saddleback forum this weekend.
Who will it be? I hashed out the veepstakes game back in February. Nothing’s changed. CNN is speculating that it’s Joe Biden, who once endorsed Obama’s “cleanliness.”
Place your bets.
One ticket we now know is not gonna happen:

Obama’s pick for VP will be . . . himself. The guy is really that much in love with himself.
Oh, pleeeeeease let it be John “Halp Us” Cary.
The only reason I care about VP thins time is because McCain is very old for the job.
Evan Cry (baby).
Does it matter? All The Messiah’s veep has to do is adore Him.
Jokes tend to work a whole lot better when you know how to spell the name of the person you’re mocking.
Hillary
I don’t buy that he’s going to announce it.
Drudge flash: The One may announce his pick as early as tomorrow morning…
I suspect it won’t be Hillary because she gets too much attention. It won’t be anyone who can detract significant attention from The One.
I’m hoping for an Obama/Bayh Democrat ticket. After McCain mops the floor with them in November, we’ll all be able to say Bye-Obama! ; )
I still think the ultimate home run out of the ball park choice would be Max Cleland. Nevertheless, this will most likely be an all gasbag ticket, with Obama and Biden competing to see who loves themself more.
The republicans will go ultra safe with Pawlenty, although I still hold ut slim hope that McCain will shock the world and pick Giuliani.
Pawlenty offends nobody. He might be standing in my living room, I am not sure. He is that inoffensive.
Respectfully

No better person for that than lgm, but does lgm have the executive experience to match Obama’s short time in the Senate

He needs a guy like Joe Biden and that’s who he’ll pick.
I’m calling Ronald McDonald.
The only person who could possibly be up to bho for VP, who is just as above us as he is, would be wifeee. She wears the pants in the family as I see it. She is good with kids and has a healthy diet, veggies, and is happy to be an American.
L
Hillary would be the strongest pick. He’ll go with Bayh who except for his skin color looks much like Obama himself. Which would appeal to Obama’s narcissistic side. As if he has some other side.
Fast Eddie Rendell for the Obama.
Who knows with McCain… doesn’t matter much to me anyway.
God spare us Biden’s sanctimony. He makes me ill.
Colin Powell to win the Independent/moderates.
Obama will pick McCain as VP. McCain will accept as proof that he “reaches across the aisle”.
Is there anyone out there who whines more than Obamessiah? I certainly can’t name one.
There are two separate problems. An experienced choice will magnify Obamessiah’s inexperience. And an inexperienced choice will magnify Obamessiah’s inexperience.
And the real problem is there are few people out there with less real experience than Obamessiah.
Caught between Barack and a hard place!
What about the “whispers” AP alluded to on HotAir (where I’m DYING to be able to comment btw) regarding Sebelius?
I think the Dem party would implode if the Anointed One picked a woman veep and it wasn’t Hillary.
Well it’s a shame Putin, Jong-Il, and Achmadenijad don’t qualify. Maybe Jintao can produce a
fakeironclad U.S. birth certificate proving hisageU.S. citizenship by birth. You think so after Dobson’s event? Powell should be embarrassed to be associated with Obama at this point.
Where is the Hillary buzz? After Obama giving himself a pay cut, I would have thought she would smell blood.
Things could get very nasty in Denver.
Barry’s going to pick Michele. She’ll kick his butt if he doesn’t.
I meant his wife, not Ms. Malkin.
Jeez, there goes my registration rights…
He’ll announce it later in the week, I’m guessing.
Tim Kaine: Too inexperienced all around. Let’s groom him for the future.
Evan Bayhe: Too Soft. Not an attacker.
Bill Richardson: Terrible on the stump and in debates. Not white. Screw being PC, the pick HAS to be white.
Sam Nunn: Unless he’s flipped on gay issues, there’s no way. He’s also too old at 69 to pair up with young Obama and his youth voter crusade.
I want:
1. Joe Biden: He’s been vetted over the years. The most dirt on him is the whole non-issue from the plagarism speech in 1988. It’s a non-issue. He’s extremely tough, and was the best and most consistent debater. He has a ton of foreign policy experience, and is respected around the globe. He has passed a ton of legislation on crime issues. His anti-drug laws could hurt him with young people, but I doubt it will matter. Whose gonna bring it up, and make it a big issue?
2. Hillary Clinton: I know this looks nuts coming from me, but the polls are a little close for comfort. I firmly believe that Hillary can help lock down Michigan and Ohio, and put Florida in play. Her baggage is well known, but at least it’s all been on the table. Obama could lose some male moderates who despise her, but hopefully he can make up for it with more single women and steal some seniors. I sorta hope she isn’t the pick, and I’m very backnforth on the issue. I could easily change my mind here in an hour. There is also the risk of losing white votes who may have trouble dealing with SO MUCH change in the White House at once.
3. Wesley Clark- Self made man, smart, and has a ton of military experience. He had a rough end to his military career that could harm him. He is tough though, and will go on the attack.
4. Jim Webb- Apparently doesn’t want the job, but he has a ton of experience on one hand, but still isn’t a congressional dinosaur. He’s a Vietnam Vet, and worked in the Reagan administration. Still he’s a bit of a hot-head, and doesn’t have a good record on women’s issues. Also wrote some novels with curious sexaul passages, while not being a big deal, but could be a silly distraction from right-wing radio.
Gore- He’s too big for the job, and he’d overshadow Obama. Gore is also a bit of a hypocrite on his pet issue. His “Timothy Leary of Global Warming” persona is also getting a tad creepy. He should have run in 2004, before thing got so out of control and huge in his life. He would have won, and our country would be in better shape.
I WANT JOSEPH BIDEN. BOOK IT.
Anyone but Hillary and he’s toast, and if he picks Hillary that would be a joke.
I really don’t give a fig who he picks, he’s going to lose no matter what.
Bill Richardson. Hispanic and serious. Gravitas. Backed Obama before Hill was out, surprising the Clinton campaign.
Powell, whom I dislike intensely, would actually be a good, strong choice, but there are any number of reasons why it won’t happen. Hillary of course is out.
As a rule, Democrat presidential nominees pick VP candidates who are stronger than they are (just as Republicans presidential candidates pick nominees who are weaker). Biden would be a dull, safe pick, so my guess is that it will be him, or someone very like him.
…wears sweaters, reminds everyone of Carter…
My top pick would have been Senator Daschle. He’s one of the few politicians who could actually affect how his home state votes. He barely lost in 2004 and the country has swung left since then. It’s only three electoral votes, but three electoral votes would have been the difference in 2000.
His record as a legislator would also help President Obama hammer his priorities thorough.
MisstressJustice, Biden is my second choice, followed by Sebelius. I must admit that if Obama picks your 2-4 choices, I will yank my hair out.
So much of your absolutely insane post to have fun with but since I was in the military this one is easiest to mess with. Self-made… as in stabbed people in the back all the way up. Smart… to liberals, to everyone else with a sound mind he is a genuine nut case who nearly caused WWIII. Has a ton of military experience… so much so that he was one of the only generals in recent history ever to be fired (I mean, quietly told to step aside and removed from his command) from being a head commander in the field. The largest disgrace a general of that stature could face under a Democrat president.
But most the rest of your picks are right on par with the evil Clark, which is really scary.
ag, she’s a Democrat and she’s handicapping the Dem veepstakes. Is she supposed to list conservatives and Republicans. You’re not that thick are you?
No, but she could have dug around and found someone with a (D) next to their name that is not as hopeless and deranged as Clark and (most) the rest of her picks.
From your mouth to God’s ear AJ Montana. I keep hearing that he will win by x amount of electoral votes.
Should pick HRC except that she and Slick would so
overshadow him and be constantly plotting behind his
back that he would be crazy to pick her.l
Whoever he picks better be ready to become even more obscure than is usual for the VP.
Just creating a buzz…I don’t believe he will announce on Tuesday. He needs somthing to distract voters from his Saddleback performance.
An hour ago I was thinking in terms of ‘his’ pick for VP. Now I think he will be told who his VP choice will be.
She does a fair job of pointing up the dirth of actual executive talent in the Democrat Party.
Richardson is white, when he stays out of the ‘Tanning Booth’. I lived in Alburquerque for years and Bill didn’t get a tan until recently, and yes, that is the actual spelling of Alburquerque.
Joe Biden crossed my mind as becoming the VP nominee when I heard he was going to Georgia; but after hearing that his presence was requested by Saakshvili, I was and am skeptical. I’ve never heard of most of the other rumored politicians until recently (except for Silky and Lurch). Obama needs a guy that knows foreign policy.
Biden’s my guess.
Huh. I agree with CNN, the NYT, and MJ. I guess that can happen once in a while.
Richardson is the only candidate that, if he were selected, would make me think twice about voting for Obama. His policies as a candidate were jokes and his reputation as a grab-asser should immediately disqualify him.
He was the only (D) I saw that supported the common sense that is the 2nd Amendment and actually has a concealed carry license of his own. Bout the only think I liked about him though.
Osama/Obama 2008
Because the only difference is a little BS.
It figures you’d despise the only credible candidate in the lot.
Uplander- Funny. I will clarify that Obama should choose a white, anglo-saxon IMHO. I want to win, so noway to Colin Powell and other worthy contenders. Sorry. I will be very happy to be ultimately proven wrong.
Alaskangrizzly- I don’t really care about your unhinged beef with Wesley Clark, but I’m just handicapping some of my leading contenders. That’s all. Feel free to offer some of your own predictions, or continue your uncanny Undresiege impressions. Whatever.
Rusty- Good point on Daschle. He’s been off my radar, but he would be a good pick. To me, the Kansas governor is too lacking in experience. Also, I’m not sure how Hillary would react. Yes, she scares me. I agree that 2-4 would be problematic for various reasons. I want Biden. He’s a great debater. He has mad experience and he’s tough as a $3.00 steak.
He’s also a terrible, horribe debater. Bill just has this sad-sack loser quality about him. He will probably tapped for Secretary of State though, because of his experience, and for payback.
I think he’s gonna one-up the Clintons and pick his own wife…lol
Imagine a half-black/half-white male with an all-black female running mate. He’d have all his major bases covered.
vsatt, she was vetted and didn’t pass muster, the whole Rev Wright Church for TWENTY YEARS threw her under the Bus.
Obama has made a career of not putting his opinions in writing or taking a firm stand on anything. Are we
sure he even exists or is he a ventriloquist dummy with Michelle’s hand up his rear?
I am tired of being told that the only reason I won’t vote for him is because I’m racist. What about He Just
Isn’t Qualified!!!
I think he should draft Pelosi. She knows more about
the office than he does.
ew txrose, not before dinner please.
Obama/Jeremiah Wright?
Obama/Rezko?
Obama/Rosie O’Donnell?
Obama/Soros?
Obama/Farrakhan?
Obama/Streisand?
Obama/Sheehan?
Obama/Ahmadinejad?
Obama/Vladimir Lenin’s preserved corpse…?
Obama/Wavy Gravy?
Obama/Fiddy Cent?
Decisions, decisions…
Me either john. not one bit.
Seriously??? Come on. Has anyone ever, ever actually said this to you??? It looks like a madeup talking point to vent about.
His personal baggage, lack of experience and policies are obvious obstacles for his bid for the WhiteHouse. Stop making stuff up just to play a “role”.
Oh wouldn’t that be a gift if he picked his America hating wife as his running mate. That truly would be a dumb and dumber ticket.
I am predicting his choice will be “SpongeBob.” It is the only logical choice. He makes Obamessiah look soooo presidential.
Translation: I can’t refute that Clark is a nutcase that got fired so I’ll stick with comparing you to Siege.
Got it, thanks.
#36 – AlaskanGrizzly disparaging a veteran, CLASSY!
mj – talk about “made up talking points”. Can you please point to a single successful socialistic society? – anywhere anytime. YET you continue to strive for what has never worked. Socialism did not make America great, socialism will not keep America great.
Why thank you, I try not to demean a persons military experience out of respect unless that person went out of their way to shame their position or turn around and bash the troops for their own politcal gain. Like Clark and Kerry both did on numerous occasions.
How about we talk about our strong points instead of showing how dumb the other side is? Yes, there dumb but we can’t win by saying we’re not as bad as them…I know crazy idea. It just becomes a mirror of the dailykos and its ilk by attacking the other side without saying why our party is superior.
Obviously neither of you have been governed by Bill Richardson. MJ and Rusty have it right. Richardson is not VP material. He’s much better as a cabinet member, not DOE though. That whole Wen Ho Lee thing didn’t work out so well. Secretary of State, I guess, he does know some dictators in Asia and South America and he speaks Spanish.
What I’m saying is, take my governor, please.
Daschle is like a mini Goracle making major coin promoting the corn for fuel scam. I would say he’s out. Too much money to be made, he wouldn’t want VP.
Biden is as full of crap as the Messiah. Quite possibly the dumbest main in the Senate. Conservative operativesa would love it.
Wesley Clark a total self serving douche bag (like Obama) and a military failure. Another quality choice.
Gore another loser.
Next.
Chuck Schumer wants a recount.
mchristian,
I think they take turns with the title.
Pick a Scandinavian country.
#56…I have been told this by at least 7 democrats in
the time this guy has been running. Three were black
and people that I considered good friends. They no
longer speak to me. The others were people that knew that I wasn’t crazy about McCain and Assumed
that I would vote for Barry O. Yes, they did say, that
the only reason I would not be voting for him was because he is black (I pointed out…half black) and that
this made me a racist!
I’m voting for McCain because at least he has some experience as a Senator.

No. Don’t – they eat horses there!
Except Sweden. Or possibly Norway.
Denmark is a good choice. They offer tax incentives to attract rich people.
Makes em better skiers.
Not to go all PETA on you guys, but being a Kentuckian and an animal lover, it about broke my heart when I learned that horse racing champions Exceller and Ferdinand were slaughtered by their new owners in Sweden and Japan, respectively, when they were no longer of any stud value.
Those horses were magnificent champions and made each of their successive owners millions – Ferdinand even won the KY Derby – and for them to have ended up on someone’s dinner plate is simply barbaric!
Ellen Degeneres? (just kidding)
Obama/Pelosi – I predicted back in Spring. I’m not so sure now.
Many of you have mentioned the often mentioned – and I agree Biden is at the top of the list.
Still haven’t seen mentioned the often mentioned Hagel, Bloomberg, and let’s not forget Newt.
I think there’s a good chance Mr. Obama will choose a Republican – and if he does – would McCain counter with ……….Hillary!!???
(Help Stop Comment Abuse – 3 or less per post is sane.)
#75..I just read, in a mag called the Good Old Days,
about a woman that got to pet Man O War, and she
says that even now, just thinking about it, is still a
thrill. They should be allowed to live out their lives!
Just read, on a couple of sites that Biden is the favorite
when it comes to speculating about the VP.
The theme of the convention on Wednesday night when the VP will speak is national security and a tribute to veterans. Obama’s foreign policy, national defense creds are non-existant.
So my bets are either
1) John Kerry
2) Joe Biden, or
3) Chuck Hagel
Chap: I would not say any of the Scandanavian countries are successful examples of socialism. In each of their cases, they were massive beneficiaries of WWII – not being bombed to smitherines. Hence, they were able to make tons of money post war and have been living off their “trust fund” since then. I think if you look closely they now are beginning to notice that their nest egg is beginning to dwindle and they are having to cut some services.
You got it!
There is no chance of either thing happening.
No different than eating any other animal. I welcome the opportunity to eat horse, dog, cat, whatever. Meat is meat and a lot of people need it to survive.
Rusty you have a screw loose.
You’re at it again, aren’t you Rusty?
Love the fact that HRC and Slick have the convention
until it’s time for BHO to “accept” the nomination. Will
he get to speak on the last night?
They are also planning on keeping the demonstraters
away from the convention center for “safety” reasons
and that includes (GASP!!) Code Pinko!!
Dude, there was a guy down near New Braunfels, TX whose dog died. Teacup poodle, just an appetizer. You may have seen it on the news.
Get real – only those without a soul to understand the ideas of grace, beauty and companionship would eat a horse, let alone a cat or dog!
That was horrible about the poodle but I can see why
they were stopped. However, the policeman went out
of his ways to be insensitive.
They are trying to educate people in China. Teach them that dogs are pets not main courses. The woman that did the show about this had a dog with
her named Dim Sum. Poor choice of names if you are
trying to stop them from eating dogs.
THIS country, the USA, is a free market capitalist society. I really don’t care what system the others use, they obviously pale in comparison. But whoever thinks it’s better in a socialist haven is free to go to one, but please leave the foundation of this country alone. People aren’t streaming here in droves for nothin’.
dj..for every goofball that thinks this country is awful,
there are multitudes who think it is wonderful. Yes,
we could do better, but even at our worst we’re better
than anything else out there!
True. It just makes me soooo mad!
I think it’s going to be Clinton, or Caroline Kennedy.
Only those without a soul would rather see human beings starve than have a useless animal killed.
I don’t understand how people can be shocked at people who eat dogs and cats and horses and then can sit down to a nice pork dinner. Pigs are as smart as dogs! Often as cute too.
Pigs are cute. So are Roof Rabbits ( cats) and I know
that when people get hungry they will eat anything.
A man that was in his 70’s or 80’s when I was a teen
said that during the depression, he and some other
people that he knew ate dirt to keep their bellies from
growling all the time. He said there were rumors about what some people were eating when other people went missing but he would prefer to think they
were only rumors. I agree.
There are other, far healthier and way more sustainable sources of protein than meat – particularly red meat, which in addition to containing excessive amounts of fats, cholesterols and hormones, may yet be id’d as a contributing factor to some types of cancers.
Having made the mistake of befriending my grandparents hogs when I was a kid (they had a working farm), I couldn’t agree with you more! One little fellow would run to me like a dog whenever I whistled, just to have his chin scratched.
I think it will someone that couldn’t possibly outshine the one. I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t name Michelle O. after all you know she has to approve the pick anyway.
I do think that she is the ventriloquist and The One is
just her dummy. Someone is pulling the strings!
But none are quite as delicious.
Especially millionaire horse breeders in Sweden and Japan.
I don’t have a problem with hungry people eating what they can, but that wasn’t the case with these horses.
How about aborted babies, Rusty? Oh, wait, Jonathan Swift preceded you. Oh well, at least the cosmetics and human body parts industries are faring well with the abortion laws you so love to defend.
I get what you’re saying, and I’m not arguing for vegetarianism because I too eat some meat, but only turkey and chicken, and only occasionally, but as someone who stopped eating all red meats back in 1990, I do think there are distinct lines between what we should consider as meat and what we should never consider as meat.
Horses, especially once champion race horses, aren’t meat. They’re contributors to our society – they serve us and provide millions in tourists’ dollars to states like mine, where entire industries are built around them.
Once these horses reach the end of their racing careers, and are sold for stud to foreign buyers, they should be treated in a manner befitting their championship status – they shouldn’t be placed on Sven’s menu!
