Sore loser: Obama and Obamedia accuse McCain of “cheating”

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 18, 2008 12:52 AM

No, really. The Obama camp and its media water-carriers are seriously accusing John McCain of “cheating” in his appearance over the weekend at Rick Warren’s Saddleback church forum because he was in his motorcade when the program started– and then escorted to an empty room without media hook-ups. NBC’s Andrea Mitchell spread the unsubstantiated rumor that somehow McCain heard Obama’s questions while on his drive. The nutroots went, well, nuts. The NYTimes piled on (“Despite Assurances, McCain Wasn’t In a ‘Cone of Silence’“). The McCain camp has protested.

And now we have the spectacle of the Democrat presidential nominee and his press entourage bleating about the “cone of silence” because he didn’t fare as well as his opponent.

Yes, the Obama has just confirmed that it is operating in a cone of abject stupidity. Maybe a little less fun in the sun next time, eh, Barry O?

The event wasn’t even head-to-head. How is the Obama team going to behave should The One wipe out in an official debate this fall? The wah-mbulance will be working overtime.

Oh, and I think we know where the Left is headed again. Remember “Is Bush Wired?”

Predicting a massive run on tin foil from now until November…

More:

Warren told CNN Sunday evening, “we flat out asked him” if he heard any of the questions. The McCain campaign “confirmed that McCain did not hear or see any of the broadcast” in the motorcade or after he arrived, Ross said.

When asked if McCain overheard anything, Charlie Black, a McCain adviser who was with him at the time, told CNN: “We were in motorcade until 5:30 p.m. ET; then a holding room in another building with no TV.”

Warren said, “I trust the integrity of both” candidates, and said he “knew they would abide by the rules.” He joked McCain may not have been in the cone of silence, but “he was in the cone of a Secret Service motorcade”.

Scott Ott: Har. How McCain breached the cone.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering about that myself. From everything I’ve read this afternoon, Warren denied the possibility of McCain’s having overheard any of the Obama interview.

Of the people on stage, the individual with the least integrity was Obama. To accuse McCain of cheating is silly and shows just how poorly Obama did. In addition, the cheating claim also damages Pastor Warren as it is aimed at him as incompetent to hold such a forum. Actually, the news media is embarrassed by the fact that this Saddleback forum asked really tough questions and was a far better mechanism than they could have put together to expose the pros and cons of each candidate.

Nice comeback, but I don’t agree. This entire flap was caused by McCain people going ballistic over one sentence spoken by a news person on TV.

Obama did not offer it as an excuse. Obama supporters agree that his answers were not influenced by McCain listening in (if he was).

If the McCain people had said: “Yes, he was supposed to be in isolation, though he was not in the beginning. We apologize for our failure to comply with this aspect of the agreement. We state for the record that John McCain did not listen in nor was he given any information about the questions.” That would (might) have been true.

Instead they made themselves look foolish by blaming Obama for their violation of the agreement.

It’s “might” instead of “would” because McCain’s people have not actually denied that they listened and provided their candidate with information.

But somehow he’s smart enough to remember all the answers fed to him and deliver them in such a flawless and direct manner that he made Obama look dumb!

The camera pans out to the audience in loving adoration of the messiah with people clapping and wiping away tears of joy before panning to the news reporter…

Moreover, Andrea Mitchell comments to the viewing audience that we are “seeing history in the making”

Next, a very serious looking John McCain is asked what he thought about the great speech from Obama and a visibly alarmed McCain replies the speech appears to be a rip-off from an 80′s song.

The camera pans back to Andrea Mitchell as she is caught praying to Obama before she realizes she is on camera. After quickly reattaching her lapel mic, she proclaims McCain has somehow cheated by reading the lyrics of the song and comparing them to Obama’s speech.

Ballistic… Interesting and emotionally charged description. The fact that you have you returned to comment more than once could be interpreted by some here as ‘ballistic’, but I digress.

Andrea Mitchell said, “‘Obama people’ [were suggesting] ‘that McCain may not have been in the cone of silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama. He seemed so well prepared.’

Apparently writing a letter to the network as Rick Davis did showing his displeasure is ‘ballistic’ in your view.

When Mitchell was challenged, she stuck to the notion that this was coming from the Obama camp. She must be lying, right? However, since you seem so quick to automatically believe Sen. McCain was cheating, we’ll put some credence in the idea that Mitchell may have actually heard this from the Obama campaign.

Obama did not offer it as an excuse. Obama supporters agree that his answers were not influenced by McCain listening in (if he was).

This does not make sense. Who suggested that Sen. Obama’s answers would be any different even if he suspected that McCain was listening?

Besides which, Sen. Obama himself mentioned that there were topics that were given to the candidates by Rev. Warren.

Out of curiosity, which question asked was so special it could not have been anticipated by either campaign?

It’s “might” instead of “would” because McCain’s people have not actually denied that they listened and provided their candidate with information.

Brooke Buchanan has denied it. Rick Davis has denied it.

Heck, even Rev. Warren is now on record with “They’re dead wrong. That’s just sour grapes…”

McCain broke the deal, which is the definition of cheating. I don’t know whether he got information, and neither do you.

In many sports (cycling, track & field, …), professionals agree to random unannounced out of competition drug testing. They agree to notify officials where they will be at all times so they can be tested. Last year, Michael Rasmussen (Danish bike rider) was kicked out of the Tour de France not for doping, but for not being where said he would be for out of competition testing. We don’t know whether he was doping, but we don’t know he was clean.
