San Francisco values: Let the illegal alien felons stay!

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 19, 2008 09:58 AM

Unrepentant, open-borders officials in San Francisco want illegal alien felons to stay — and taxpayers to foot their housing and legal fees. Murder victims of sanctuary policies be damned!

Guess the city doesn’t think it has enough blood on its hands yet. Via Jaxon Van Derken at the SF Chron:

A San Francisco city commission has taken a defiant stand against Mayor Gavin Newsom’s directive on young immigrant felons by urging officials to permit the offenders to remain in the city and help pay for their housing, job placement services and immigration lawyers.

Newsom announced last month – in an attempt to quell a growing controversy involving San Francisco’s sanctuary city policy – that the city would no longer shield young illegal immigrant felony offenders from federal authorities for possible deportation.

Three weeks later, the city’s little-known, 15-member Immigrant Rights Commission approved a resolution that ran counter to the mayor’s directive, urging the city to let young immigrant offenders stay in the city. The commission advises the Board of Supervisors and mayor about issues involving immigrants.

It called on San Francisco to pay nonprofit community groups to screen juvenile offenders to determine whether they should be entitled to city-paid immigration attorneys who would help them seek asylum as victims of abandonment, trafficking or abuse.

It also urged the city to provide adequate resources for placing the youths in “culturally appropriate” community programs approved by the juvenile court system, a policy that federal prosecutors have said was akin to harboring illegal immigrants.

And it advised the city to develop and expand safe housing, jobs and other opportunities for unaccompanied immigrant youth “because these youth are extremely vulnerable to exploitation by adult criminals.”

Ah, and we get to the bottom line of this commission. Dollars to doughnuts this commission consists of high ranking La Raza members as well as other so called ‘do-gooder” organizations that make good $ “advocating for immigrants and minorities”. Good lord, nobody else in that entire PC ridden city can see this obvious money grab? Geeez. Sure glad I don’t live there.

And one last comment about htis commission. If ALL immigratns are a boon to the US as we are told constantly, why are we taxpayers always being asked to pay for something for htem? Welfare. Re-settlement costs. City attoreny’s to assist in assylum. Bi-lingual education. Prince William County in Virginia has stopped this nonsense. Here is what has happened since they took action:

IMPACT OF THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION CRACKDOWN IN PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR JAMES CITY COUNTY:
Prince William County has undertaken an historic experiment that shows both the nature and scope of the illegal immigration problem. Specifically, the Prince William County Board of Supervisors initiated a crackdown and here are some of the results.
Schools: A large number of “English as a second language” students are leaving the PW schools – and showing up in Fairfax, Alexandria, Falls Church and Arlington schools. Notably, the cost to the PW public school system has been reduced by millions of dollars. The average cost of a student is reportedly $10,000 and, so far, between 740 and 750 students have left.
Parks: The PW parks were being taken over on weekends by illegal immigrants. The PW citizenry felt intimidated by the situation and demanded action so that they could use their own paid for facilities. The police indicated they were powerless to eliminate this takeover because the parks are public parks open to anyone regardless of citizenship. The parks are now more accessible to the citizenry, however, with the departure of illegal immigrants, the local soccer leagues are experiencing some difficulty recruiting and staffing teams.
Jails: The PW jails were overcrowded with a substantial number of illegal immigrant prisoners. I.C.E. was contacted and agreed to remove the prisoners. So far, PW has turned over nearly 750 illegal immigrants to I.C.E. Because prior Prince William elected officials ignored the growing problem, PW spent nearly $800,000 on jail related items as part of the illegal immigrant crackdown. On a positive note, the crime rate in Prince William County declined about 19% during the first quarter of 2008. Fairfax County, which has a “look the other way” policy, experienced a 22% increase in the crime rate during the same period.
Arrests by Police: Police officers in PW are required to check the immigration status of everyone they arrest. If an individual cannot provide proof of citizenship, I.C.E. is contacted. The Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force indicated in a November 2007 progress report that gang crime, not including graffiti, was down 33% in 2006 and fell 18% in the first half of 2007 thanks to the coordinated efforts of federal, state and local law enforcement.
Of significance, ICE officers have arrested more members of the Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, in Virginia than any other ICE jurisdiction in the country. Of the 341 gang members arrested by ICE between February 2005 and September 2007, almost 80% were members of MS-13 and that 90% of the MS-13 members were illegal immigrants.
Vagrancy: The Herndon Council is trying to come up with a constitutional anti-loitering law. Over half of the arrests for public drunkenness come from a three-block area where illegal immigrants and others loiter in hopes of day labor jobs. To combat the problem, there are proposals to limit the sale of alcohol in local stores, eliminate public pay phones, remove bicycles left in rights of way, and post a police officer in the affected area from 5 AM to noon each day. In addition, incidents of mall related vagrancy are down in Prince William County.
Social Services: The demands on PW public transportation and housing have decreased substantially. This is a most interesting proof that the social services systems previously aided the illegal immigrants on a “don’t ask, don’t tell” basis.
Hospital Services: Emergency room wait times are down. Transportation to and from hospitals now involves a user fee. No free transportation.
Business Services: Prince William County intends to deny business licenses, and mortgage and rental assistance, to illegal immigrants. Businesses that specifically catered to illegal immigrants are leaving PW county. For example, an illegal concrete construction company was raided and 34 illegal immigrants arrested. The company has apparently shut down. I have talked to small business owners. They say that they have been frozen out of new construction because of the extremely low wages that illegal’s are willing to take. This has an obvious impact on legal job seekers.
Foreclosures: Prince William County has the highest foreclosure rate in the greater DC area, and it spiked in February and March of 2008. The March foreclosure figure was 1497 homes and this is a 30% increase. While this cannot be directly tied to the crackdown, it stretches credulity to think that there is no correlation between the housing situation and the departure of illegal immigrants. The relationship between zero down mortgages and the purchase of homes for rental to illegal immigrants is simply too obvious.
There appears to be a rapid turnaround underway with young and low-income Prince William County citizens buying homes in foreclosure, and this is not just for speculation but for residency.)
Sanctuary Policies: Prince William is no longer a sanctuary county, but the surrounding counties are functioning as such. Nevertheless, neighborhood associations in places like Falls Church are taking note. I recently read a neighborhood newsletter that told the folks how to spot illegal immigrant use of residential housing. Among the ways to identify such usage were (1) multiple work vehicles park at the house or on the grass, (2) the wholesale removal of large trees to allow for additional parking, and (3) the enlargement of paved driveways. The suggestion was to report such observations as a first step in taking the issue to the local Board of Supervisors. Recently, Loudoun County’s Supervisors have been warned by a number of neighborhood associations about the apparent abuses of their four unrelated persons per residence zoning ordination by individuals who do not appear to be American citizens. There is growing unrest in other NOVA counties as well.

I just got home from six weeks in Peru.

One of the last conversations I had was with a Peruvian co-worker about this very same situation. To say she was pissed would be to put it very, very mildly. To say her husband was even more pissed off would be to put it even more mildly.

You see, she’s a professional woman. She speaks decent English (in my opinion, she’s come to that point where she really needs a few months of immersion to speak excellent English, but she writes quite well), works in a professional job (legal assistant for a U.S. based non-profit NGO) and has plenty of ties to the local community. Her husband is an electrical engineer with a good job. He did well on the GRE and TOEFL, speaks decent English (again, speaking as someone who speaks two foreign languages, he needs immersion to become truly good). He applied for a graduate program in the U.S., which accepted him, gave him a scholarship, and arranged a sponsor for him.

Both of them applied for visas separately before they were married. She wanted a tourist visa to get to know the U.S., visit her brother (who is here legally on a student visa) a bit and work on her English. He wanted a student visa (again, he was accepted, and had a full-ride scholarship to a good university). Both paid $150 for a 1 to 2 minute interview with the consulate. Both were denied.

Getting into the U.S. is hard – they know that, and they’re willing to play by the rules. Since then, they’ve purchased a house, gotten a mortgage, and strengthened their professional ties. If they come to the U.S., they’ll go back to Peru – I know that, and I know them.

What pisses them off more than anything are the illegals that make it all but impossible for them to come. If it weren’t for Mexico’s myriad problems, they would have had a much, much easier time getting in. And the U.S. could have actually been a bit more enriched by the presence of law-abiding professionals rather than unskilled felons.

So take note – it’s not just Americans pissed off at the illegals. It’s law-abiding folks everywhere.

So, is that not a Conspiracy to knowingly violate the law?

Just where in the heck is the Federal Prosecutors in California?

I would not be surprised to learn that some of the immigration commissioners could be involved in the drug trafficking and are just using their positions to “protect their interests”.

The Californian motto is now: GIVE US BARABAS!

    Well said SamIam!

That summarizes California to a “T”.

I say immediately stop ALL Federal Dollars to this “State of Corruption”. They indeed flaunt their law breaking policies in the face of the rest of the country and then demand that we pay for it!

John, do you have any extra information that you would like to share with us concerning your link? I read the article twice and absolutely nowhere does it state that this scumbag was an illegal alien. This whole thread was about SF’s continuing attempts to shield ILLEGAL CRIMINAL ALIENS but you supply us with a link about an obvious Hispanic looking gang banger with a Hispanic sounding surname living on a Hispanic sounding street who gets his just desserts in court. Was he our piece of crap or some other country’s piece of crap? Did he commit these crimes as a criminal illegal alien who should not have been here in the first place or was he exercising his Constitutionally guaranteed right of U.S. citizenship to be a criminal scumbag? Maybe we should just assume that if they look foreign they must be illegals, eh? If you want to do it that way, there is a heck of a lot more than 20 million that don’t look like your Mum and Dad.

I disagree! You can’t blame stupid on being stoned. These people in SF are just stupid, stoned or not.

ASPEN, Colo. — A 42-year-old man is under investigation for sexual assault and false imprisonment after a woman said she was sexually assaulted and held against her will over the weekend.

Victor Gonzalez-Rodriguez was identified by Aspen police after a friend of the woman called to report he had gone to look for her early Sunday morning and heard her crying, “No, No!” in a nearby apartment.

Police were notified and determined that Gonzalez-Rodriguez lived in the apartment. He was arrested by Assistant Police Chief Linda Consuegra during a follow-up interview on Monday morning. Consuegra said that Gonzalez-Rodriguez confessed to the crime.

He is being held for investigation of false imprisonment and attempted unlawful sexual conduct.

It was not immediately clear how long Gonzalez-Rodriguez has been living in Aspen.

We could let them stay all the time they wish for in San Francisco…

Just re-open Alcatraz and cancel tourist runs.

The “undocumented workers doing the jobs that Americans wont do” can refurbish the joint for a protracted stay.

The illegal aliens get choice real estate (perfect views of the city and bay), and then the local maroons can pay for it (and NOT with federal aid)

Thank You. Very good video. I read some of the comments there, but of course, the idiot liberals started in with the “he doesn’t know the history”, “we massacred native americans” , “this country was built by chineese RR workers and black slaves” (unbelievable, whites must have doen nothing but sit aorund and reap the benefits of the knowledge and work of others), and my favorite was the “we took the land from NATIVE mexicans” (what a hoot, NATIVE mexicans. As if there was a mexico before the spanish. what a baffon. Not to mention, mexico lost the territories becasue they allowed unfettered immigration from the uS into their territories. Lesson to be learned?). So they defended diveristy and multiculturalism. Sad to say, but it is idiots like that, along wiht the ACLU/La Raza/NAACP/etc and our spinelss PC pandering representatives in congress, that makes me believe the country is already lost. We jsut don’t know it yet. We will be bankrupt, in 3rd world status, without the Eurpoean work ethic that built this country, and lose our edge in industriousness and development of technological advances within 30 years. Just seems the snowball has gotten too large to stop now. Sigh.
