Update on the Obama/Ayers paper caper

Thanks to all of you who responded to my post on Stanley Kurtz’s call for help pressing the University of Illinois at Chicago to free the Obama/Ayers papers.
Kurtz has an update and is still quite worried about the endangered documents, so don’t let this one go:
I remain unsatisfied with mainstream media reporting on this issue, and continue to be extremely concerned for the safety and fate of the documents. We need more public pressure, and better reporting. I plan to say more down the road about Obama’s role at Annenberg, even without access to the records at UIC. I also plan to say more about the detailed finding aid now in my possession, and about the contents of the single file folder I was permitted to examine.

Meantime Steve Diamond has compiled a must-read post, “Behind the Annenberg Gate” on his efforts to obtain key information about Obama/Ayers:
As Global Labor readers are now aware, the University of Illinois is blocking access to the records of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, an Illinois non profit corporation, established in 1995.
However, several months ago I was able to obtain key records of the Challenge – including board minutes, annual and semi-annual reports and financial records – from Brown University’s Annenberg Institute, which housed the national Annenberg Challenge program that was set up in 1993 by a gift of $500 million from Walter Annenberg.
Below is an analysis of what I found in those documents. They evidence
-the leading role that Bill Ayers played in the Annenberg Challenge;
-the equally important role played by Barack Obama; and
-the intensely political nature of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge.
Skip the non-reporting from the AP.
This is what you need to know.

will call again.
I sent an email to Mr. White.
In a big twist of irony, Obama’s minions at the Chicago Sun Times sued and had the court documents of the divorce of Jack and Jeri Ryan unsealed so they could reveal the contents. The seal opening was opposed by both Jack and Jeri Ryan. And we had every name from those files released.
Now, nobody’s interested in these Ayer’s files enough, and someone wants to purge the names from the files.
Plus ca change…
If Kurtz does indeed get the documents, who is to say they are factual? If he does get them, these things will be so gone over and ‘cleansed’ it will look like a Mary Poppens movie, sweet and pure.

Has Sandy “Pants” Berger been seen in the area?
He can’t have them until Hillary is done looking at them.
Yep, Hillary has them.
There’s gotta be a McCain angle here somewhere…

um hey Stan just do it.
what are you waiting a paycheck?
Lemme see here, a non-existant affair of John McCain deserves coverage. But, troubling friendships of Barack HUSSEIN Obama doesn’t.
What’s wrong with this picture?
Message sent. Let’s see if they deign us worthy of a response.

Wow. Is the Chicago Sun-Times on this case as well?

If Kurtz has his hands on the documents from UI-Chicago, any accusations he levels will be much more substantive and he’ll be able to back them up. As it is now, Obama can just keep denying everything. Remember what he said back in April:
I think this is the most telling quote from the This is what you need to know link above;
“In 2003 the final technical report of the CCSR on the CAC was published. The results were not pretty. The “bottom line” according to the report was that the CAC did not achieve its goal of improvement in student academic achievement and nonacademic outcomes. While student test scores improved in the so-called Annenberg Schools that received some of the $150 million disbursed in the six years from 1995 to 2001,
“This was similar to improvement across the system….There were no statistically significant differences in student achievement between Annenberg schools and demographically similar non-Annenberg schools. This indicates that there was no Annenberg effect on achievement.”
So basically, Barry Obama and Bill Ayers doled out about $150 mil to political cronies for no improvement in the schools. How do I get a piece of that action?
While they’re at it get the Hilldebeasts Archives as well.
I’m not going to hold my breath on either issue. It’s Polotics and these days NOTHING is getting accomplished. zip, zero, nada.
The more I think about Obama, the more I recall a speech given by Edward G. Robinson’s character, Johnny Rocco, in the Humphrey Bogart classic Key Largo
“You take a nobody, see. You teach him what to say, how to act. You dish out a lot of groceries and coal. You get your boys to make sure the people get out to vote. And you count the votes over and over again until they add up right and he’s elected.”
“Public enemy, he calls me! Me, who gave him his public all tied up with a nice ribbon around it!”
Anyone taking bets on a fire at the University? It worked for Al Sharlaton vs the IRS.
If you read Obama’s words from back in April as to his relationship with Ayers, it’s probably factually correct, if the term, “on a regular basis” remains as vague as that.
Typical
lawyerliar politician. However, scarier still is the possibility of this Mao-hugger getting into the White House.
Is Ayers the guy in the Cuba World Baseball Classic jersey on the Global Labor blog page?
Why has the library been storing the material if they don’t have ownership? Can I have the library store my stuff for a while until I have more room?
Might the owner have taken tax deduction for donation but not given up ownership? — When the library got the material, did they provide to the donor an appraisal of the value of the donation?
The Illinois Freedom of Information Act applies to the University of Illinois. http://www.fs.uiuc.edu/cam/cam/iii/iii-11.html“>
No need to worry about the safety of the documents. The documents will appear on a White House table in two years.
You mustn’t worry. Obamessiah has assured us that there is nothing there. “HopeNChange!” Ignore the man with a thick foreign accent behind the curtain. Nothing to see there. “HopeNChange!”
Um, Let’s hope not.
It’s not the crime, it’s the coverup.
The Obamaniacs are not as talented as the Clintonistas at covering up things that would be inconvenient. Where is Carville or Blumenthal when you need them?
For the life of me, I didn’t think it was possible for the Democrats to come up with someone slimier than the Clintons.
I’m waiting to see how one or all of the “
usualliberal suspects” here, link the UIC records hold-up to President Bush – they blame him for everything else, why not this? I’m sure the contortions of logic and credibility they take in laying this at his feet will be fascinating!Don’t worry, those records are being examined by the Columbia noose investigators…
This explains a lot. Rich sixties radical, living off daddies money, not knowing what real people go through. I knew too many like him.
I think this is what they call an October Surprise?
Bad news. Sandy Berger has been seen leaving UIC with his socks and pants bulging in mysterious ways.

Just his excitement over another salacious tidbit that needs removing.
It is amazing how the media can draw on the wisdom of the Three Wise Monkeys (Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil) when it comes to Democrats, but quickly shed that mantle when it comes to Republicans.
The Bush/TANG vs. Kerry/Swiftboat issue comes to mind…
Just another nail in the coffin of media objectivity.
There’s a lot of blustering on the part of bloggers here and elsewhere. The fact remains, the info is being covered up and likely altered, and very sinister forces with Soros $ are picking apart this Republic and no one can do anything about it.
Before you jump to the conclusion that I am defending Obama, I’m not–in fact, as I see it, what I’m about to say is more damaging to the man’s character than even the Ayers link. Now to get to the point–LOL—Obama has proven over and over and over again that he is either unwilling or unable to understand and process issues in any definitive way. In short, he never truly understands just what he is backing, supporting or dis-approving. The “infanticide ” debacle is one of these, I’d be willing to bet he didn’t care to understand it well enough to know what he was voting for. All the issues he’s flipped on seem to stem from his not grasping any of them. The Ayers things may have been just that. O only looked at the surface and did as he was told and never truly analyzed any of it and just basked in the glory. Now whether this is due to a deliberate or an intrinsic lack of focus, I don’t know. But either way, he should NOT BE IN ANY POSITION CALLING FOR SERIOUS DECISION MAKING, EVER!
So with all these ties to people that have spent time with Chavez, the ChiComs, et al – and a close election – does this mean we’re at risk of having an election that’s rigged in Obama’s favor?
It is all well and good to plumb the Obama – Ayers relationship but why miss the forest for the trees?
What was the effect on the Chicago public school system of this large infusion of funds and the work of Mr. Ayers, a supposed grand eminence in the field of education? The proof is in the pudding after all.
Don’t forget the wondrous results that HRC wrought on the AR public school system when she “reformed” it.
