San Francisco values: Another illegal alien sanctuary travesty
Nancy Pelosi had no comment on this latest illegal alien sanctuary travesty. Keep burying your heads in the hand, San Francisco:
An immigrant suspected of being in the United States illegally – freed after being shielded from possible deportation by San Francisco officials despite committing two gang-related assaults as a juvenile – faces charges that he tried to stab a man to death last year in San Mateo County, authorities say.
The case of Eric Antonio Uc-Cahun, now 19, a native of Mexico, is the second in which a youthful offender protected from deportation in San Francisco has later been arrested for a violent crime as an adult.
The San Mateo County stabbing was especially vicious, authorities said – a top prosecutor said the victim had been “gutted, like you gut a pig.”
Uc-Cahun’s history of youth offenses in the city was similar to that of Edwin Ramos, a 21-year-old Salvadoran native facing triple-murder charges in connection with the slayings in June of a San Francisco man and two of his sons on an Excelsior district street.
“How many of these people are there who were the beneficiaries of this process?” asked Joseph Russoniello, the U.S. attorney for Northern California, who has been critical of the city’s practice of shielding immigrants from deportation.
“This is what happens when the best intentions are misapplied,” Russoniello said. “If there was any justification for this program, cases like this certainly undermine that expectation.”
Both Uc-Cahun and Ramos were in San Francisco’s juvenile justice system at least twice during Mayor Gavin Newsom’s time in office, Ramos for an assault and an attempted robbery he committed when he was 17, Uc-Cahun in connection with assaults and other crimes for which he was arrested in 2006.
Juvenile justice officials protected both Ramos and Uc-Cahun from federal authorities under their interpretation of San Francisco’s sanctuary law, which bars the city from cooperating in U.S. efforts to hunt down illegal immigrants.

Sad. What’s worse is that even this won’t change anything. We’ll hear more crying from the left that they need more tax money to help these people and that we need to be more tolerant and understanding. They’ll make any excuse in the book rather than admit one of their policies is a complete failure.
Do we even had a federal government any more? Time to block all federal money to this joke of a city.
Love to see it happen to all sanctuary cities. But with Nancy & Friends running things, not gonna happen (especially not to San Francisco).
From the point of view of the liberal establishment, no matter how horrible and disgusting the crimes of these offenders, at least we can all be certain that they will never, ever vote against the Democrat Party. That is the enshrined moral principle that the lives of the powerless (i.e. standard issue American citizens) in San Francisco and elsewhere are sacrificed daily (possibly hourly).
I think evil definitely exists.
And we need to confront evil.
But I think we need to be really, really humble when we confront evil.
You see, perhaps Eric Antonio Uc-Cahun isn’t the evil person here. Perhaps we are. Uh, um, let’s try to see both sides here. Uh, uhhhh, we’ve often done evil, thinking we were doing good. Wait, disregard that last statement – it has some irony to it, you know? Uh, um, as if when we were harboring illeg- uh, undocumented people, and we thought we were doing good, perhaps it was evil.
But I don’t want to say that, it will tick off my liberal base. Uh, did I just say that out loud? Rats! I mean, I just think this whole thing is above my pay grade… and probably, uh, Bush and McCain’s fault.
I am by no means a legal scholar, but I wonder why Mr. Russoniello, as a U. S. Attorney, can’t bring charges against the derelict San Francisco city officials who are ultimately responsible for this atrocity.
At the very least, I think it may be time for San Mateo County, as well as other surrounding areas which are forced to suffer because of San Francisco’s appalling lack of responsible behavior, to file suit against the city of San Francisco in federal court. It’s also time to cut off ALL federal funding to SF.
Need to put Gavin Newsom is the cell with him. Why does that mayor seem to value illegals more than he does law-abiding citizens?
This is just evolution in action. If each illegal immigrant can murder three San Franciscoans, how many illegal alien murderers do they need to protect before all our problems with San Francisco are solved? …or would it be better if the illegals were selective – you know, we would need fewer of them before the problem is solved.
Wrong, this is not the best intentions. This is the willful disregard for the law and flagrant negligence to protect the public good, all in the name of harboring criminals.

Ok – I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, so someone please explain why nobody has filed a civil suit (or whatever it is) against the city of SF yet? Especially the surviving members of the father and his 2 sons that were recently killed. I can’t imagine thet it would be too hard to convince a jury (even in SF) that the city’s policy to explicitly break the law helped cause those deaths. SF could be sued for a ba-jillion dollars. Isn’t there one conservative attorney in SF that would take this up? Even if it wasn’t successful, it would put other sanctuary cities on notice. I’m just sayin’…

Two Texas state reps have asked our Attorney General for an opinion regarding denying funds to sanctuary cities in our state along with other actions such as denying business permits, etc. Can’t wait to see how he rules on this one. Hopefully, we can get something done at the state level since the Feds won’t do anything. However, we have a lot of bleeding heart hispanic reps that want to shield the illegals.

What you’ve got in San Francisco is a city government so malevolently bent on “making a statement” on illegal immigration that law-abiding citizens have become little more than the eggs to be broken in the making of their little political omlette.
I used to love San Francisco. Now when I think of that once-magnificent city, the only emotions I feel are anger and sadness.
OK, so if you’re saying “No to McCain” then you’re saying “Yes to Hopenchange.” In the context of illegal immigration, that’s like saying, “No to retail, yes to wholesale.”

The issue in San Francisco is that the “leaders” of the city (Newsome, Pelosi, whatever) all live in Pacific Heights – this particular area does not have any urban blight. The illegal aliens, the homeless – whatever undesirables – are all kept in other areas. They live in a nice wealthy, aggressively policed bubble. If you live in that environment it is very difficult to imagine that your decisions or policies have any negative effect – after all they aren’t in your backyard.
I lived in SF for over 10 years and ended up leaving because of the asinine behavior on the part of the “leadership”.
Many government ‘officials’ are legally protected against lawsuits when ‘performing their job duties and carying out their responsiblities’. While I’m not an attorney, I think a GREAT case could be made that this whole sanctuary thing is a violation of federal law and outside any duty or responsibility these bureaucrats and politicians can claim to have, neatly superceding any protection from suits like this.
So, as with many others on this thread, please, please! Somebody, anybody who has been a victim of this stupid policy. Find the meanest a-hole lawyer you can, file a suit naming the city, Gavin Newsome by name, each and every one of the city council and/or supervisors, the police chief, the states attorney for San Francisco and anybody else that didn’t stand up, loud and publicly, and say “This is wrong! We must follow the law!” Is that not part of pretty much every swearing in speech each of these morons made when they took their cushy little overpaid positions? Uphold the law of the land?

Elected officials have a fiduciary duty to the citizenry. It’s too bad that they can’t be held accountable the way corporate officers can. If Mayor Nuisance was personally liable for decisions he makes as mayor, he’d act more responsibly.
It’s not unusual to hear of a physician faced with criminal charges after making a mistake that causes harm or death – even if the error was made under stress (e.g. a crisis in the OR). Same thing for cops: act to save your own life and face years of litigation and personal ruin. Yet elected officials lay a trail of screw-ups from here to eternity and face no consequences worse than having to get a real job after the next election.
No matter the problems government officials cause, the taxpayers get stuck. Even if the victims of sanctuary policies could sue, the taxpayers get the bill. Which brings up an idea:
What needs to happen is that someone sues for billions and wins. San Francisco citizens then get draconian tax assessments to pay the damages – enough to trigger foreclosures and bankruptcies.
Once this happens a couple of times, people will start taking this voting thing seriously.

Local Cops Should Enforce Immigration Laws

Ask any U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) special agent about his job, and he or she will tell you that the vast majority of people they investigate and arrest for drug trafficking are primarily criminal illegal aliens from Mexico.
Having spent half my 20-year career with the DEA assigned to the Los Angeles division, I arrested my share of Mexican nationals. On one of the few occasions I arrested a Caucasian American citizen, other agents walking by the holding cell did double takes when they saw him. That’s how rare it is for the DEA to arrest an American citizen for major drug trafficking.
Please don’t misunderstand; Mexican nationals don’t have a monopoly on U.S drug trafficking. I’ve worked cases involving Cubans, Iranians, Venezuelans, Thais, Chinese, Cambodians, Nigerians, Frenchmen, Britons, Canadians, Pakistanis, Afghans, Israelis, Bolivians and, of course Colombians, who control the cocaine trade. But the overwhelming number of Mexican nationals I arrested far exceeded all others combined.
Once I posed undercover as a drug trafficker to negotiate the purchase of two kilograms of black tar heroin from a Mexican illegal alien. The suspect proudly told me he was the nephew of Rafael Caro-Quintero, the drug cartel leader who kidnapped, tortured and brutally murdered DEA special agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena while he was on diplomatic assignment to Mexico in 1985. When the man delivered the heroin to me, he was arrested, and we served a search warrant at his home where he had a loaded gun. His Mexican wife, also an illegal alien, was briefly detained and released. When it came close to the trial date, the man’s defense attorney actually offered to have his client plead guilty if the government wouldn’t deport his wife. That speaks volumes about the lack of respect for our immigration laws back then. The man later unconditionally pled guilty.
What struck me about that case, and many others I’ve worked, is that Mexican national drug traffickers will sometimes personally return to Mexico to pick up the drugs and return to the U.S. the next day, or would make a phone call to have an associate smuggle the drugs into the U.S. for them. This illustrates how porous our borders are.
As a DEA supervisor in Santa Ana, California, my office almost exclusively worked illegal alien Mexican national drug traffickers who sell the vast majority of methamphetamine in this country. An Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS) special agent assigned to the group, who was supposed to handle the illegals we encountered, was so overwhelmed with work he became ineffective.
After encountering illegal aliens time and time again, I told my agents that the next time we did a search warrant and there were uninvolved illegals present, we were going to arrest them for immigration violations, even though it wasn’t in our investigative purview. As federal agents, we could arrest anyone for a federal violation committed in our presence. My plan was to arrest and immediately transport illegal aliens to the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint located just south of Santa Ana. Without exception, friends, relatives, wives and paramours of these suspects were arrested and handed over to the Border Patrol that day, and by that night, they were on a bus back in Tijuana.
My worst nightmare was mistakenly detaining a U.S. citizen and sending him back to Tijuana just like in the movie, Born in East L.A. with Cheech Marin. INS agents weren’t very happy with what we were doing, because we were essentially doing their job. They told me I should back off since immigration law was so complex.
How complex can it be? I asked everyone we detained if they were citizens, had a green card, held a U.S. visa, was eligible for immunity or was an asylum seeker. When the answer was no to every question, they were arrested. Without exception, the detainee admitted being here illegally and viewed the arrest as a minor inconvenience. Border Patrol agents told me that about half of those we arrested had prior arrests for illegal entry, yet the U.S. attorney would never prosecute.
Every local police officer should have authority to question a person’s immigration status during the normal performance of their duties and make arrests for federal immigration violations when appropriate.
It’s time for Congress to fund immigration law training for local law enforcement and mandate they enforce its provisions. Those states and “sanctuary cities” that refuse should be cut off of all federal funding until they go along with the program. Doing so would be a manpower multiplier for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. It would have a significant impact on crime in our local communities and make millions of jobs available for deserving Americans.
I tell you over and over and over again my friend we are at the eve of destruction.
