Tides Foundation official indicted for theft

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 21, 2008 08:58 AM

The Tides Foundation is one of those high-minded, left-wing “social justice” non-profits funded with Soros money and Teresa Heinz Kerry money. You also know Tides as one of the funders of John McCain’s open-borders Reform Institute.

The foundation is in the news again, but you won’t hear the do-gooders saying much about this:

A former official at a San Francisco charity has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges that he stole more than $132,000 over three years, court records show.

Jason Ramon Sanders, 37, of San Francisco, who has served as philanthropic adviser of the Tides Foundation, was named in an indictment handed down Tuesday by the grand jury in San Francisco.

He faces a single count of theft within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, because the charity is located in the Presidio.

The foundation has funded environmental and social justice projects since 1976 and also provides philanthropic advice, according to its Web site.

The indictment accuses Sanders of stealing $132,600 from February 2005 to March 2008…

…Reached by phone, Sanders paused before saying, “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” then hung up.

Because faith based organizations don’t get that tax benefit that the so-called “foundations” funded by the elite do-gooders looking for a place to dump excess income and get huge write-offs. If you start diverting money to faith based groups, the Hienie/sKerry (he served in Viet Nam you know) and the moveon ogres will lose their tax breaks. We can’t have that.
Besides, those were legitimate foundation expenses used to promote the general welfare and well-bling of the masses. /sarcasm

Actually reminds me of my Worthless Nephew #1. I was doing some installing some drywall in my brother’s house, and saw WN#1 standing outside and watching me through the window. Near as I can tell, he’d heard his uncle was going to do this thing called “work”, and wanted to see what that was. But, to be on the safe side, he was going to stand at a safe distance so he would be infected by the urge to, I don’t know, pick up a hammer or something.
