Wealthy elitist Snobama attacks wealthy elitist McCain
We’re trapped in the Obama campaign’s Cone of Stupidity and we can’t get out. The latest Obama ad razzes McCain for not remembering how many houses he has. (But at least he knows how many states there are.)
Wealthy elitist Senator mauls wealthy elitist Senator. Snooze.
Yahoo! News is featuring the moronic gotcha story from Politico. And VP hopeful Tim Kaine is dutifully attacking McCain’s mental competence. You want gaffes that call into question mental competence, Gov. Kaine? Hello, Sunshine. Thank you, Sioux City. I see dead people. Iran poses no serious threat. 57 states. 10,000 killed. Etc, etc. etc.
From the McCain camp:
“Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses? Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people “cling” to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who’s in touch with regular Americans?
“The reality is that Barack Obama’s plans to raise taxes and opposition to producing more energy here at home as gas prices skyrocket show he’s completely out of touch with the concerns of average Americans.” –McCain spokesman Brian Rogers

It’s Cindy that’s rich, not John.
I thought private beaches were illegal in Hawaii?
These guys never consider that any law of reason applies to them.
A rich man owns many houses. Is this really the best democrats can do? Please.
Maybe they can pay this bill for Richardson. Never mind, it’s waived.
It would be interesting to see how many homes obama sold just before the market crashed wouldn’t it?
Speaking of houses, Hopenchange evidently never heard of the saying about tossing stones when you live in a glass palace.
I like that Brian Rogers guy. Disemboweled Hopenchange’s stupid little ad quickly and efficiently.
People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
Frankly, being rich is not a crime in my book. I’m a capitalist and I love a free market economy. If someone has managed to invest their time, effort, and money in such a way as to get rich off of it, good for them. Let them enjoy it.
$4million, and only donated $23k – and to his church that’s not his church anymore.
And I suppose multi-multi-millionaires San Fran Nan and Feinstein are “ordinary” people too, right?
There are more millionaire elitist Dems in Congress than there are Republicans.
I wonder why obama disabled comments???
Not to mention, doesn’t Cindy own a condo that her aunt is living in now?
This from a dude who can’t remember keep track of his own brothers. Snort.
The D attacks on McCain seem to be the same playbook from my whole life.
Wasn’t Dole a grouchy old man, until after the election when he was surprisingly witty all of a sudden? Now, they have McCain as a grouch – don’t see it myself.
Houses? Gore? Edwards? Kennedy?
None of us should have “homes”. We are all one people of the world and the fact that Americans have homes that have to be heated and cooled is down right mean, selfish, and, uh, typically American!
At least McCain knows how many states there are.
JLP
Ha! Smack Down, now pour it on and end it.
BHO is totally under performing. 7 covers if Time Mag., compared to 2 for McCain. The poll slide and BHO’s failure to materialize the Democrat “lead” show that the media aren’t doing their jobs, either.
Share holders at Time? Are you paying attention?
The light-worker seems to think envy is a virtue. For many of his supporters it is the only one they can get behind.
If I was McCain I’d turn the whole attack around… and point out that those are his WIFES houses… and he trusts her. You know, point out that she is a Free EQUAL empowered WOMAN who does not need his oversite…
Just for comparison, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt own several – in France, Cambodia, Berlin, Malibu, New Orleans, and LA and rent a $100k/month suite at the Waldorf.
Yeah, that’s pretty much it. People who have money buy things – oh, the horror!
When we cite polls putting McCain in a heat with Obama, we’re “grasping at straws”…what is this, exactly? Hard-hitting reporting.
Good to see the McCain camp hitting back, it’s refreshing to see the Republicans growing a spine finally.
Geez, I am so tired of that picture of him with his nose in the air. It makes me want to puke. Elitist Snob. Just what we need.
A desperate reaction to the poll slides.
A journalist should ask Obama how many abortions MyBelle has had. See where that goes.
I know, its huffpo But on this link they say
So the ad is wrong. You would think they would actualy check thier facts before producing an ad.
Put it on the wrong thread. opps
On the bottom of the article he says mccain will use negative ads to avoid issues, while obama is producing 2 negative ads. Hypocrite.
Pass the grey poupon, Snobama!!!!
B O’s just jealous. lol

sorry, me too.
So cnn thinks obama is only worth 1.3 million. Okay. I call bull. Not with that many best selling books.
Obama is not a snob. He just better than the rest rest of us. If you don’t beieve me just ask him, the msm, NYT, and if you want absolution on this, just ask lgm or Mookie. They’ll set us all straight.
lgm said:
Wrong. Only conservative blogs and Fox seem to be interested in this at all. Obama has moved on to actual issues. How rich is rich? Was it a good idea to invade Iraq? Should we honor the government of Iraq’s request to set a timetable to leave? Who has the best economic plan?
These are the issues that are good for Obama. Discussing the cheating issue is Republican strategy.
Don’t forget that not only is McCain a rich snob, he’s also a warmonger.
Whatever BHO.
He=He’s jeeze, get me a beer, huh, Edith.
How dare he own so many houses when my brother lives in a HUT!!!
Don’t worry about LGM, he can’t even answer questions that were asked months ago. He still thinks abortion mills are being bombed daily but refuses to give dates, addresses etc. Just ask him and see where these bombings occur.
Pass the Grey Poupon…ho ho. Is it 1991? You can buy Grey Poupon in a friggin’ squeeze bottle for a little under 4 bucks. Oh, does someone like arugula? Oh my God! Don’t try new things in the kitchen, guys! If you like the flavor of something, you better clear it here first before adding it to your pasta dish. I mean, it’s almost as bad as someone picking swiss cheese over cheese whiz to put on their sandwich. If you really want to shudder, just think of all the elitist snobs who make a choice like that every day at Subway.
Bald-faced class warfare. Hoping enough voters are narcissistic enough so they’ll vote on envy, envy which is the root of class warfare. Bald-faced class warfare by the guy who was going to usher in a new era of politics! I really like the McCain camp’s answer. It’s worthy of a top-flight blogger.
At least McCain (or Cindy) paid for his houses.
Can you say that Mr. Rezko…uh, I mean Obama?
lol
But it’s a nice hut, with an arugula patch out back and nary a gun nor G-d in sight!
Let’s see, $23,000 at a rate of a dollar a day. George would be set for the next 60 years.
Barry O your arrogance is showing again.
… does a guy who doesn’t even know how many states are in the Union want to get into a debate about America?
Jeeze neocon527,those panties are wadded up a little tight aren’t they? Just so I get the picture, a squeeze bottle of Grey Poupon is just a little under 4 bucks and that’s ok. Is 4 bucks a gallon of gas ok as well with you? Maybe we can get the Heinz Company to make it so our SUV’s will run on Grey Poupon.
crapweasel
You just won’t let up on McCain, will you, MM?
The snarkiness is getting tiring when the survival of the nation is at stake. If you can’t believe that, look at the crew Osama Obama is hauling around with him, and imagine them at his side when he’s in the White House.
hey O, please pick Kaine so you will for sure lose virginia
I sure would like to lease that hut for George for a few years…would be well worth the 36 bucks.
To Snobama, if you’re rich and a Dem, your wealth doesn’t make you an elitist. If you’re a Republican and your wife is a beer distribution heiress, then you’re an elitist by default.
It must be nice for Mr. Thin Skin to run one of the most superficial campaigns in the history of politics yet lecture all of us that earning $250,000 per year is ‘wealthy.’ I’d like to know, along with his foreign policy credentials, where Obummer got his economic credentials from?
No, no, let’s just forget your exclusive Hawaii trip and your sweet Chicago pad that Rezko arranged for you. You’re no one to talk there, Snobama.

This is America. We admire people who have done well. It gives us HOPE that we will get there someday too.
Obama shows how much he hates his wealth by giving less than one percent to charity.
All for me and none for thee!!
Obama is “So vain he probably thinks this post is about him” (apologies to Carly Simon)
Obama is the definition of Narcissistic. He can’t even see the unwashed because his nose is in the way.
The really sad part of this story is that n0bama is less than two miles from a coal fired power plant using clean coal technology and I don’t think he’s coming here to promote this new technology which is providing the electricity to power his PA system.
I think Aerosmith said it best when they said:
EAT THE RICH!!!!!!!
Bedje…excellent “look over there” argument. This isn’t about gas prices. Or your gas guzzling vehicle. It’s about assanine opinions of people based on food choices. If he bought store brand yellow mustard for a $1.50 cheaper than Grey Poupon, would that make him a regular guy? Because mustard, greens and cheese choice is what I want to know about when picking a president.
The McCains have adopted children from 3rd world countries. Cindy McCain travels the world on charity missions and chairs agencies dedicated to helping poor children.
Obama has a brother who lives in a hut in Africa and has not given him a red cent. Obama supports killing unwanted babies.
Hmmmm…
neocon527, no average guy can’t afford anything but the cheap mustard and lettuce. you have to be making quite the $$’s to be able to purchase. i think that is where the analogy is/was going. it isn’t about product choice but $$ choice.
While talking about houses, what about Jeremiah Wright’s big house in a white country club? You know, the preacher that “serves” poor, inner city black folk?
Seriously, every time Obama tries to make a point, it backfires. America doesn’t always take care of the least of these. I’m pro-choice. What? Why are you laughing at me?
Houses? Gore? Edwards? Kennedy? sorry but it’s kennedy=compounds, edwards=estates and gore=mansion !!
there are 57 states!
ISLAMIC STATES.
And my friend necon527 here would like to try your decaf for a change.
McCain should say: “This election is a about a Navy fighter pilot versus a Harvard lawyer”. Then he should say:” This election is the United States Navy vs. Harvard Law School.” McCain should say that while I was living in a horrid unheated rusty cement cell in North VietNam, Barack Obama was living in an elegant dormitory at Harvard”. McCain should ask the following question: “Senator Obama, why did you choose not to serve in the military of the United States?”. Question 2: “Senator Obama, do you have any close friends who have actually served in the military?” Obama will no doubt talk about his grandfather, who he calls a WW11 veteran, but that is about it for Obama.
McCain should hammer away that Obama is a Harvard man through and through and never once attended a public school. Obama even went to a private nursery school and kindergarten. McCain should also mention that Obama disdains NASCAR, bowling, the Miss America Contest, SEC football and just about everything else other than perhaps playing a little flag football on the Harvard Commons and perhaps Barry liked to go to the crew races between Yale and Harvard. There is so much fertile ground here. You have to wonder why McCain does not get down and dirty in answering the attacks from the candidate of arugula and Spanish ham.
Nor is it about mustard prices. Who brought up that a squeeze bottle of Grey Poupon was just under 4 bucks? The way it sounded was, hey, 4 bucks for a bottle of mustard, that’s not so bad. Maybe you run with the “Grey Poupon Crowd” everyday, but Joe Sixpack doesn’t. And if I remember correctly, wasn’t it two chauffeured limousines in the commercial with one guy powering down his window and asking the guy beside him, “Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon”? So yeah, it would make him more of a regular guy if he bought the buck and a half mustard.
uhangtight…the problem is, it’s a specious argument, that then gets all of us bogged down in some silly conversation that has next to nothing to do with important issues facing the nation. It’s all splitting hairs.
If I buy store brand Dijon mustard, which I regularly do, because it’s cheaper than Grey Poupon (by about a dollar or so), am I regular or elitist. Is it the mustard or the brand? If I pick one type of cheese over another to put on my cheese steak and it doesn’t cost more or maybe it costs the usual .75 extra or something, am I an elitist because I chose to spend the dollar or chose to eat (gasp) Swiss cheese? Do you see how stupid this all sounds? It’s a diversion. It’s a stupid campaign alarm. It’s Hillary Clinton putting on a Southern accent or Bush clearing brush. It’s all fake. And it doesn’t mean a thing.
If you wrote two best-selling books and you’re a U.S. Senator and you’re now running for president, you’re probably not a regular guy. If you own enough homes where you forget how many you have, you’re probably not a regular guy. If you have a staff who tends to your every whim, schedules your day for you, makes sure you have everything you need, you’re probably not a regular guy.
If we’d stop pretending that we could have a beer with these people (or that if we could it would mean anything about them) and really just look at what they stand for, we might actually be able to have a real debate on issues. But instead, we’re checking on the price of their shoes and what kind of greens they put in their salad or what’s on their iPod.
Marc…if he didn’t do that when he ran against a prep school and Yale educated male cheerleader, why would he do it now?
For all the people brushing off this attack on McSame, let me remind everyone that Bush used the EXACT same argument on Kerry in 2004 to paint him as elitist and out of touch.
More desperation from the Obama camp. Is this really the best they can do? Seriously. McCain spent years in a POW camp and has to answer to this garbage???
Obama will continue to crash and burn. The convention next week might just be worth watching for its entertainment value. Keep a barf bag handy of course.
Hillary must be smiling 24/7 these days.
The Democratic victory here is not to deny that Obama is well to do, but to take the “Obama elite” slogan away from Republicans. McCain deserves the “elite” label more than Obama & now he’s got it.
If Democrats keep taking the stupid smear slogans away from Republicans, the election may turn — gasp — on the issues.
Obama has one home, McCain has several (not sure exactly how many). Obama earned 4 million by writing best selling books. McCain became literally ten times richer when he ditched his first wife to marry money and political power.
If the shoe fits…
Ok, so if a deal to pull out the troops is sealed under the Bush Administration, “What will Obama run on?”
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080821/ap_on_re_mi_ea/us_iraq
It’s as if Obama’s campaign is in a “death spiral” that would make him flail out with such an attack. Recently, he said McCain doesn’t know what he’s up against (in Obama). Obama is a fighter. Now I know he’ll do just about anything to defeat McCain. He’s starting to show McCain what he’s up against, and it isn’t pretty.
Don’t worry – we’re taking them away one illegal alien at a time! I sure missed out on the “Liars Loan” program though. My parents taught me about honesty and all that, instead of getting my share of the pork.
Is there a “Grey Poupon Crowd?” Do they have meetings? I’d imagine it’d be a pretty big venue, since it’s the #1 selling mustard in the U.S. And it’s owned by a U.S. company. Huzzah! Ooh and it’s Kosher. Rockin!
The commerical was from the 80s and featured 2 Rolls Royces.
Yeah, and would you believe McCain had the audacity to live in a hotel for 5 years?
I don’t normally reply to trollers, but
You just contradicted yourself. You said it was a Bush argument, and then referenced an independant group. It’s Obama who’s running the “McCain has 7 houses” ad. Big difference. Troller.
LGM, All this does is show inept the DNC is because they can’t even figure out how many houses McCain has. Also did you know he houses his family in some of those houses? Are they investment properties? Is it now a crime to be rich? And how can this compare to obama’s support for murdering babies outside the womb?
And if it’s just about the price, someone should tell Michelle:
My father, for one, a retired Army Lt. Col. And my mother, a retired U.S. intelligence official. Granted, my parents would likely chafe against ever being called “regular.” It’s like having the girl you have a crush on tell you you’re nice. Adjectives!
And obama got the number of homes wrong.
He sure gets numbers screwed up… 57 states, 10 year Presidency, etc…
Obama isn’t a “populist” . . . he’s a hard core Marxist that lacks the balls to declare himself. This attempted slam on McCain fits right in with the rest of his stupid maneuvering.
Golly, gee neocon527, you, just sound so… well, really damn proud of yourself for knowing all that stuff. You absolutely, positively have to be subscribing to Mustard Monthly Magazine to be able to shoot so well from the hip like that. And a Huzzah to you too, sir.
It’s called Google. It’s part of the series of tubes known as the internets.
neocon, i am not fooled by anything. what is absurd is the golden calf calling mcnasty an elitist or rich. i am not fooled that these are not regular guys. i don’t think anyone is, i do wish the envy vote was abolished, however, as that is what this really is “envy him cause he has the american dream and you don’t”. Plus, the fact that maybe when mcnasty was thinking about it he thought, hmmm no matter what i say it is going to be twisted into some other meaning or psuedo-reality. I am not going to answer this stupid question; but have them go to my staff for the answer to this absurd stupid question. How many of those homes are owned actually by John versus Cindy? How many of the homes do not have john’s name on them cause they were hers as by inheritance? This was a stupid question and should have not been provided a response, period.
But, back to the ‘envy vote’, there will always be haves and have nots. We as a nation must stop the absurdity of pitting one against the other, as in this country fortunes can change and a have not can become a have much easier than any other country in the world. So if you penalize the haves, and you rejoice cause you are a have not, what happens if some day you become a have? Are you now a hypocrite? A fools choice is to be envy as that is where the root of murder comes from.. envy and jealousy.
Exactly – so it’s wrong now to be rich?
You missed my point – and badly, might I add. I didn’t say that the recent ad that Obama put up was from Bush. I said that Bush used Kerry’s wealth against him much in the same way that Obama is trying to use McCain’s wealth to counter his charges of elitism.
I think you’re the troller here because you lack reading comprehension, and you’re resulting to character attacks instead of clearly laying down your argument. Typical…
Well said. However, that would have been better addressed at lgm.
Oh! You meant it’s on the very same internet that Al Gore invented?
Angry Kneegrow : So it was okay for a democrat who married money and owned alot of houses to be president but not a republican. Hypocracy is ugly isn’t it. This is a non-issue to me. Now how do you feel about obama voting to allow doctors to legaly let babies outside the womb die unattended?
I recall a remark someone once made about the first President Bush, “His children speak affluent Texanese.”
PJ O’Rourke gave a very good commencement address last May, addressing the politics of envy issue. Lord knows those students, who were undoubtedly indoctrinated with marxist materialism envy needed to hear it:
lgm, according to mccain’s first wife, no he did not ditch her. her story is that their marriage was dissolving after he returned from vietnam. she was working for the President at the time and he was working for the pentagon as liaison between congress. according to his first wife, it was decided betwen the two of them to dissolve the marriage. the fact of the matter they were in the middle of dissolving their marriage when he met cindy.
although the verbiage you used to attack makes you feel better, you would think being accurate would make you feel even better, but apparently not…
Kerry is an elitist, no painting necessary.
The Messiah is also an elitist, no painting or spinning necessary.
I agree with you, it is a non-issue. The only reason why Obama is seizing on the opportunity is that it nullifies any attempt by McCain to paint him as an elitist who’d out of touch with Americans.
First he says that you’re not rich unless you make more than $5MM a year. Then he can’t remember how many homes he has.
Pot, meet kettle. Kettle, pot.
As for the abortion issue, I’ll let you guys debate that one as I really don’t care about that so much.
So you don’t mind that obama supports letting live children outside the womb (that means already born) die like discarded trash?
Hardly. It does not nullify anything. Obama is an elitist, as his condescending remark at a SF fund raiser in a mansion among champagne sipping elitists demonstrates.
One man can be rich, but not an elitist. Indeed, I have seen the McCains work for those who are less fortunate than themselves by actually even adopting a 3rd world child with health problems. That’s hardly “elitist”.
You judge a tree by its fruits.
And what have the Obamas done for the poor, if they have deigned to cross paths with them?
Eh, well, there’s too many people on the planet as it is…
That’s a joke…..
Gherkins are tiny dill pickles. Someone stunted the growth of regular cucumbers to make them smaller.
