Wealthy elitist Snobama attacks wealthy elitist McCain

We’re trapped in the Obama campaign’s Cone of Stupidity and we can’t get out. The latest Obama ad razzes McCain for not remembering how many houses he has. (But at least he knows how many states there are.)

Wealthy elitist Senator mauls wealthy elitist Senator. Snooze.

Yahoo! News is featuring the moronic gotcha story from Politico. And VP hopeful Tim Kaine is dutifully attacking McCain’s mental competence. You want gaffes that call into question mental competence, Gov. Kaine? Hello, Sunshine. Thank you, Sioux City. I see dead people. Iran poses no serious threat. 57 states. 10,000 killed. Etc, etc. etc.

From the McCain camp:

“Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses? Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people “cling” to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who’s in touch with regular Americans?

“The reality is that Barack Obama’s plans to raise taxes and opposition to producing more energy here at home as gas prices skyrocket show he’s completely out of touch with the concerns of average Americans.” –McCain spokesman Brian Rogers

You missed my point – and badly, might I add. I didn’t say that the recent ad that Obama put up was from Bush.

I can’t believe I’m spending time on this! No offense AK! I didn’t say you said Obama’s ad was from Bush. I mean … what? Huh?

You said Bush did what Obama did — criticise his opponent for being rich. But that’s a lie. LIE, L-I-E. Some 3rd party criticized Kerry for being rich. Not Bush. No Bush entity criticized Kerry for being rich. Not Bush, not his campaign, but some 3rd party. On the other hand, the Obama campaign, that is Obama himself criticized McCain (and/or his wife) for being rich. Bush, didn’t criticize. Obama, did criticize.

Help me, I’m being sucked into a troll hole, and I can’t get out.

Actually, IMHO, and I’m not a theologin, “Thy shalt not covet” is a way of eliminating a certain type of evil. Jealousy is a type of pride. lucifer was jealous of God’s power, and set out to attain the same power. He vocalized that attempt when he told God he would set himself above God. I’m also ten times richer since I married my second wife. I had nothing. Now I have the ten bucks she gave me.

This issue has a great irony – John McCain’s daddy was an admiral, so was his grand-daddy, so he’s never been poor.

By contrast, Obama is bi-racial, and the honest people on this site will acknowledge that bi-racial relationships in the 50’s and 60’s were met with deep hostility.

Also, Obama’s mama was on welfare, and he earned scholarships to go to the best schools – seems like his life is a celebration of the greatness of America.

And, McCain with the younger, blonde, 100 million dollar wife calls the man an elitist

Feels like McCain and the people who echo this line don’t live in a reality based world.

Pardon? Have you ever grown veggies? There are two varieties used, if you’re using cucumbers, ie “cuces” to make gherkins. But dill or sweet, the cuces are picked v.young. Like those pingpong ball size “new” potatos you find in bags in the store, they are “baby” veggies. No one “stunts” anything – nor is there any other torture of veggies going on by the Bush admin.

Of course, if you really firey peppers, regardless of variety, you have starve ‘em for water. I grow some nice & spicey!

We also can our own pickles. We use pickles, but also zuccinnis, too.

    From the Obamessiah’s own mouth:

My stepfather Lolo said, “Guilt is a luxury only foreigners can afford. Like saying whatever pops into your head.” Mother didn’t know what it was like to lose everything, to wake up and feel her belly eating itself. She didn’t know how crowded and treacherous the path to security could be. He was right, of course. She was a foreigner, middle-class and white and protected by her heredity whether she wanted protection or not. She could always leave if things got too messy. That possibility negated anything she might say to Lolo; it was the unreachable barrier between them.

I think Cindy’s two half sisters have about as much relevance as Obama’s half brother that everyone is frothing over, which is say, none at all. The stuff about the houses, the argula, the half siblings..it all distracts from the bigger picture of who is more qualified. I don’t know why any political blog on either side who takes this election seriously wastes their time on crap like this. They’re all rich, they all b.s. about their pasts and they all have skeletons and that includes their wives. They’ve all said hundreds of stupid things over the course of their campaigns. There’s never been a candidate that hasn’t. So why does either side think any of this is important?

The trouble is that conservatives – and the people that sometimes swing that way – won’t stand for it. That’s why we don’t vote for scum who do it.

The trouble is, Johnny does it.

It’s not that he owns too many houses to remember; it’s that he owns too many houses to remember AND HE’S ATTACKING “BIG BANKS,” AND “BIG BUSINESS” AND “TOO MUCH PROFIT.”

Hypocrisy like that from a liberal isn’t news. From a guy who refers to everyone as “My friends” and discusses his “conservative values?”

I agree with you here. Good point.
The Obama campaign needs to hit on more serious issues. This line of attack is beyond petty.

Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses? Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people “cling” to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who’s in touch with regular Americans?

Inaccurate and out-of-context or not, this was a stone-cold classic burn in retort. OUCH

Both of these guys are beyond rich. McCain is much richer. If the McCains woke up and had Obama’s wealth, they’d shoot themselves in the head. It doesn’t matter though. We don’t begrudge rich people in this country, do we? Both candidates have also said things that have come across as elitest. Sometimes rich people come across as elitest and out of touch. It doesn’t mean either candidate cares less about middle-class or poor Americans. Each candidate just has a different vision on how to help these Americans. This petty, gotcha, sniping has come from both sides, and although the media salivates about it, most voters could care less about these tactics. We care about the vision and policies. I don’t remember a time when politics were so corny and catty.

The real question regarding competence is if McCain has the competence to personally smack Obama around with these things or he’s gonna stick with the “speak no evil campaign” hangup.

It’s okay – and it’s part of the territory – to have a campaign flunkie toss out a bit snark now and then, but McCain will have to be willing to get in himself and mix it up some. e.g, he should demand Obama release the Ayers-Obama-Weathermen papers, keeping the terms “domestic terrorist” and “Obama” continually in front of the electorate – especially during the next week.

Having nothing to do, I dug up the following info. Cindy McCain owns around 7 abodes, but she and John hang their hats in four:

    1. Cindy McCain had a stoke in 2004, so to lessen the burden on her, they sold the long-time family home in Arizona and moved to a high-rise condo nearby.
    2. She inherited a condo in California that her parents bought in the ’70s, and she recently bought two condos nearby. They cannot live three condos in the same area–so relatives or friends must live in the other two.
    3. They own a 15-acre “ranch” in Arizona. John McCain started building on the site 24 years ago and it is considered the “up north” family get-a-way.
    4. They have a condo in Virginia, just outside DC, which they bought in the ’90s.
    5. They bought a home (a loft) for their daughter. Should this count?
Now, if Obama hops to it, he, too, can live in 4 homes. All he has to do is take his millions (4 million from books last year, no doubt many more this year) and buy homes, instead of moving his stash into other investments. He’ll have to put in some “sweat equity” for the “up north” family get-a-way, but 24 years gives him plenty of time to continue the pattern of hitting the gym almost every day.

The Democratic victory here is not to deny that Obama is well to do, but to take the “Obama elite” slogan away from Republicans. McCain deserves the “elite” label more than Obama & now he’s got it.

I think it’ll take a little more than this to do that, because Barack is very well to do.

If Democrats keep taking the stupid smear slogans away from Republicans, the election may turn — gasp — on the issues.

That’s not the democratic strategy, because Obama is weak on the issues because a) he keeps changing his positions and b) he doesn’t seem sure what he stands for and probably won’t unless he can establish a neural link with the polls.

Obama has one home, McCain has several (not sure exactly how many). Obama earned 4 million by writing best selling books. McCain became literally ten times richer when he ditched his first wife to marry money and political power.

At least he didn’t leave his brother stranded in a hut in the Third World in favor of a nearly $100/lb. ham.

Imagine: your brother picking a dead pig over you.

Guess that clears up the Muslim question, huh?

So much for “social progress” huh?

If you want to call McCain an elitist, LGM, I won’t stop you. But that does absolutely nothing to change Obama, and I think there’s more stories to the house here than meets the eye.
