Yahoo! News is featuring the moronic gotcha story from Politico. And VP hopeful Tim Kaine is dutifully attacking McCain’s mental competence. You want gaffes that call into question mental competence, Gov. Kaine? Hello, Sunshine. Thank you, Sioux City. I see dead people. Iran poses no serious threat. 57 states. 10,000 killed. Etc, etc. etc.

You said Bush did what Obama did — criticise his opponent for being rich. But that’s a lie. LIE, L-I-E. Some 3rd party criticized Kerry for being rich. Not Bush. No Bush entity criticized Kerry for being rich. Not Bush, not his campaign, but some 3rd party. On the other hand, the Obama campaign, that is Obama himself criticized McCain (and/or his wife) for being rich. Bush, didn’t criticize. Obama, did criticize.

This issue has a great irony – John McCain’s daddy was an admiral, so was his grand-daddy, so he’s never been poor.
By contrast, Obama is bi-racial, and the honest people on this site will acknowledge that bi-racial relationships in the 50’s and 60’s were met with deep hostility.
Also, Obama’s mama was on welfare, and he earned scholarships to go to the best schools – seems like his life is a celebration of the greatness of America.

I want someone to tell NATO to get their sh!t together. If they don’t do anything then they’re not an alliance, they’re just a social club. AND, someone who will tell the EU to get off their @sses and start doing worthwhile work around the globe.
I want someone who will tell Congress to “get back to work, pronto!”. Someone who will tell Nancy Pelosi that leading the House is “not all what she wants”. They are there to take votes on legislation, to to prevent votes from being taken. I want someone who will use the party’s war chest to fund meaningful ads which expose the shallowness and inexperience of his opposition. Someone not afraid to call his opponent an “idiot” or a “clueless, moonbat-influenced Socialist-agenda peddler” and actually MEAN it!
In a politically-correct world, even the pot is afraid to call the kettle black for fear of what the other culinary tools in the kitchen will think! If that’s what this country has come to then I don’t know where I want to live, but it sure isn’t here!

I don’t always have to agree with what the leader of our country does. Goodness knows I didn’t like some of the stuff that the last three Presidents have done. NAFTA, Lewinski, Gulf War I’s early conclusion, lack of border enforcement, etc. BUT, if said leader is willing to get up on stage and present his views clearly and succinctly, and is willing to take the heat for his decisions rather than to toss cronies “under the bus”, I will continue to respect such leaders.

Both of these guys are beyond rich. McCain is much richer. If the McCains woke up and had Obama’s wealth, they’d shoot themselves in the head. It doesn’t matter though. We don’t begrudge rich people in this country, do we? Both candidates have also said things that have come across as elitest. Sometimes rich people come across as elitest and out of touch. It doesn’t mean either candidate cares less about middle-class or poor Americans. Each candidate just has a different vision on how to help these Americans. This petty, gotcha, sniping has come from both sides, and although the media salivates about it, most voters could care less about these tactics. We care about the vision and policies. I don’t remember a time when politics were so corny and catty.
The real question regarding competence is if McCain has the competence to personally smack Obama around with these things or he’s gonna stick with the “speak no evil campaign” hangup.
It’s okay – and it’s part of the territory – to have a campaign flunkie toss out a bit snark now and then, but McCain will have to be willing to get in himself and mix it up some. e.g, he should demand Obama release the Ayers-Obama-Weathermen papers, keeping the terms “domestic terrorist” and “Obama” continually in front of the electorate – especially during the next week.

Having nothing to do, I dug up the following info. Cindy McCain owns around 7 abodes, but she and John hang their hats in four:
1. Cindy McCain had a stoke in 2004, so to lessen the burden on her, they sold the long-time family home in Arizona and moved to a high-rise condo nearby.
2. She inherited a condo in California that her parents bought in the ’70s, and she recently bought two condos nearby. They cannot live three condos in the same area–so relatives or friends must live in the other two.
3. They own a 15-acre “ranch” in Arizona. John McCain started building on the site 24 years ago and it is considered the “up north” family get-a-way.
4. They have a condo in Virginia, just outside DC, which they bought in the ’90s.
5. They bought a home (a loft) for their daughter. Should this count?
Now, if Obama hops to it, he, too, can live in 4 homes. All he has to do is take his millions (4 million from books last year, no doubt many more this year) and buy homes, instead of moving his stash into other investments. He’ll have to put in some “sweat equity” for the “up north” family get-a-way, but 24 years gives him plenty of time to continue the pattern of hitting the gym almost every day.
And, Mom, the irony that it’s a multimillionare who’s life is filled with shady deals (e.g. Rezko) who’s the one that’s playing class envy is “rich”. Good for a snort, though!
