ACORN Watch, Pt I of the day: More voter fraudsters in Milwaukee

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 22, 2008 10:49 AM

The election shenanigans continue — funded with your tax dollars. Perpetrated by the old friends of Barack Obama and the beneficiaries of George Soros’s largesse.

ACORN Watch takes you back to Milwaukee today, where more ACORN workers are under scrutiny for submitting bogus cards:

Milwaukee’s election chief on Wednesday turned 32 more voter registration workers in to the district attorney’s office for possible prosecution, saying they tried to submit falsified registration cards.

That brings to 39 the number of registration workers under scrutiny, and the number could grow, Election Commission Executive Director Sue Edman said. An organization warned the commission staff late Wednesday afternoon about some questionable cards in the latest batch collected by its workers, Edman said.

All of the workers targeted for investigation were paid employees of two liberal groups running voter registration drives, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) and the Community Voters Project…

…Of the 32 ACORN workers referred Wednesday to Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf, Edman said:

• Seventeen apparently filled out voter applications and then signed the cards themselves. That involved two to four cards in each case.

• Twelve submitted cards for individuals who later told ACORN they never filled out an application. That involved one card in each case.

• One submitted a card for a dead voter. That was the second such case; a Voters Project worker previously submitted a card for a deceased voter.

• One was apparently making up driver’s license numbers for an unknown number of voters.

• One submitted about a half-dozen applications for already-registered voters.

Voter fraud is a frequent topic of conversation here in Wisconsin on our local talk-radio shows – especially Milwaukee ones. The problem is we have the notorious Dem Jim Doyle as Governor and 1/2 of the State’s legislature is run by the Dems as well.

With those statistics – you think Voter ID will ever come to pass? Methinks not.

Interesting point made recently by one of our talk-show hosts….

Wisconsin has ‘day-of-election’ registration – in other words, you can register at the polling place – no pre-registration required….
SO – why the need for ACORN or any other pre-registration group?

SACRAMENTO – Riverside County’s election office has referred recent complaints about a Republican voter registration drive to local and state authorities, Registrar of Voters Barbara Dunmore said this week.

Republicans and Democrats are trying to sign up thousands of voters for the November election. Both parties are targeting their Riverside County efforts at the Coachella Valley, site of a competitive Assembly race this fall.

“It was just generally the way they were presenting information to get voters to sign new registration cards,” Dunmore said of the complaints her office has received over the last month, declining to give specifics. Her office referred the complaints to the Riverside County district attorney’s office and the secretary of state’s office, she said.

I disagree. If people were REALLY interested, they would take it upon themselves to get to city hall and register. This “have to find people” to register – it’s their right…is nonsense.
The founding fathers had it about right – only landowners could vote. Only those with an identifiable vested stake in success.

We have no voter ID policy here. You go to the polls (where you can register same day, btw), state your name (no inquiry of address), get handed a ballot and cast your vote.

Many efforts have been made to change this, with the latest arguement being “the elderly and disabled will be disenfrachised as they may not have the means to obtain an ID”. This was remedied by an amendment to allow, at taxpayer expense, free transportation to ANYONE who requested it to obtain the proper ID to vote. Still vetoed by our doofus governor Jim Doyle.

I, and many other people who have decided to cast our ONE lawful vote, are the ones being disenfrachised!

But we don’t need to show ID when we vote? Why? Wouldn’t that take care of this little problem?

I live in a town of less than 2,000. When I go to vote there is actually another person in my town with my name~I have a very common last name. All I have to do is say my name and the street I live on. Theoretically, I could come back later and giver the street the other woman lives on (I’ve gotten her mail, so I know where she lives) and vote again. Now, because the town is so small I can’t get away with it because everyone knows everyone. And, well, I’m a geek and I wouldn’t do that, BUT if I was in a bigger city (and didn’t mind acting in a fraudulent manner) where noone knew who I was, it would be so easy for people to do this.

I just don’t understand why Wisconsin doesn’t require ID of some kind. Even if it’s not a D.L, why not two different bills sent to your address or something like that?
