The sitting governor would choose the replacement and if Daniel's wins re-election, that would be him, and Long-Thompson would not be Bayh's replacement. It would be a Republican. Probably why Bayh was not selected. Doesn't matter now that Biden is the pick. Oh happy day! Let the fun begin.
