It’s Smarmy and Smirky ‘08!

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 23, 2008 09:20 AM

Scroll for updates…3:03pm Eastern Obama takes the stage in Springfield IL as U2’s “Oh, You Look So Beautiful” plays…so humble…Obama: “Joe Biden is that rare mix. He has brought change to Washington, but Washington hasn’t changed him…He’s stared down dictators…He is uniquely suited to be my partner as we work to put our country back on track…He is one of the finest public servants of our time.” Obama touts Biden’s blue-collar background, Catholic background, his stutter, his family tragedy (the car accident that killed his wife and daughter), brain aneurysm…(Obama neglects to mention his two losing presidential bids)…Biden will deliver “straight talk.” Heh. That’s the danger, isn’t it?

And now, let me introduce to you…snort: First gaffe of Obama-Biden ‘08!

He said he “wasn’t the guy.” Starting his VP candidacy off with a lie.

Let the fun begin.

The Springfield, IL announcement takes place at 3pm EST. Video clips and any gaffes from the gaffe-tastic duo will be here.

The McCain camp was ready.

Oh, and so much for the Magic Text Message, which, as Ed Morrissey points out, arrived at 4:50am Eastern. Now, we know what the text message sign-up was really about. Not about being all-inclusive and galvanizing the hip kids with cool technology. It’s a mega-fund-raising call list, as commenter Gwillie points out.

Head fake.

I think when Romney dropped out back in February, this was the deal that was made between him and McCain. Everything else has been smoke and mirrors.

Who else remembers Romney forgiving that $40 million debt from himself to the campaign? No businessman worth his salt does that just out of the goodness of his heart.

Romney is WAY up on Intrade . . . just the way Biden was a couple of days ago.

    I’m following the $.

And btw, Mark Halperin called it for Biden and Romney earlier this week - the same Halperin who said Romney was pulling out of the presidential race before anyone else. So far, Mark is 2 out of 3 . . .

I’m not saying Sarah isn’t sharp . . . she most certainly is. I’m saying that the experience factor would rear its ugly head. That is McCain’s biggest advantage right now; Biden would seek to destroy it and it would be easier for him to do so with someone who has little experience on the national stage.

Sarah would look attractive next to Biden for sure - both physically and verbally - and I know that counts for a lot, but Biden is pompous enough to pass himself off as looking a lot smarter than he is.

I’m just concerned that we need to have some real national experience on the ticket and someone who has proven great debating skills and who we KNOW has an excellent chance of taking down Biden the windbag.

Romney, IMHO, fits that bill best of everyone on McCain’s short list.

It’s not Obama’s fault that Hill didn’t plan on having to compete after Super Tuesday. It’s not his fault that her campaign disregarded the caucus states. Lastly, she’s in debt because she stubbornly stayed in the race, and loaned herself $ even though the numbers showed that she couldn’t catch up. If her crybaby acolytes really think that McCain is going to be a president in the same mold as Hillary, they’re beyond stupid. If the pro-choice feminists cherish the right to abortion choice, we’ll see how petty and myopic they really are. If they are willing to sabotage an election in hopes of 2012, they are some of the most naive and selfish people I can imagine. A lot can happen in 4 yrs idiots. Remember back when this election was supposed to be all about Clinton v. Rudy. Wow, uh, I guess that didn’t pan out.

Hillary may have helped unite the party, but this general election isn’t just about the PARTY. Moderates and independents(particularly men) are up for grabs, and don’t tend to like or trust Hillary Clinton.
Obama has baggage and inexperience. However he doesn’t have one ounce of the baggage of Hillary and Bill Clinton. Who else was viable, John Edwards? Yeah that would have been the biggest democratic nominee disgrace in modern history.

Question for you Alaskans (and anyone else out there):

What is Sarah Palin’s record/statements on gun rights/abortion?? I’m curious.

Sarah Palin is an avid gun owner, hunter, and lifetime member of the NRA.

She is adamantly pro life, and just recently had a Downs Syndrome baby. She knew this while she was pregnant, and chose life.

She has a solid record supporting (and living according to) gun rights and right to life.

I don’t know Palin personally, if that is what you mean. From what I’ve seen of her, however, I like her very much.

But if she were chosen mainly because people think she would grab disaffected Hillary voters, I think that would backfire for this reason:

Liberal women like liberal women. They can’t stand conservative women. They are very catty about conservative women. Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter . . . the list goes on and on.
Look at what was done to Katherine Harris after Florida 2000 - they trashed her clothing, her makeup (okay, they had a point there!)

Heck, Condi is not much of a conservative, and they trash the living daylights out of her, just because she’s associated with the Bush administration.

What do you think they’d have to say about a former beauty pageant winner? Not that there’s anything wrong with that, IMO, but they’d tear into Palin for that!

    Just my 2 cents

I just don’t want McCain thinking that the PUMAs will be outracing each other to pull the lever for him in November if he puts a conservative woman on the ticket. These women want Hillary - make no mistake!

According to the DemocRATS, if I don’t vote for BO, the only reason is racism and this will result in the UN nations fearing America.
The Liberals DemocRATS have stated 100X times already that I am a racist because: I am not one of them: I support the actual Constitution; I believe in judging a man on the content of his character and not the color of his skin; I believe we should ask what we can do for our country and not what our country can do for us; I believe in facts, reason, and direct observation and have seen what computer simulations can do - I loved playing a computer simulation called “DOOM;” I believe in God, I believe the all men and women, being created equal, are not capable of handling the excessive power the Federal Government has accumulated and are corrupted by it - just as did the Founding Fathers, and that lower taxes is the best medicine for a critically corrupt government; I believe salvation and hope come not from any man or group of men but from God alone.
BO is not an honorable man, is not the brightest person in the world, is not a source of hope or redemption, is not capable of “bringing our Nation together,” is not infallible and capable of “multi-tasking” - this was the same BS the Clintons put out in the 90’s. BO is a typical Chicago politician with close personal and political ties to felons, America haters, who uses “science” not to advance civilization but to gain personal power and lower the quality of life for millions, who has lost track of when he is lying. That the liberal media is in love with him is a very bad sign - the media being infested with the dumbest, least educated, unpatriotic, democracy hating, 100% atheist, sleaziest bunch of liers and sociopaths one can imagine.
BO stinks, Biden is a azzhole, the Clintons are crooks, their supporters are a collection of the mindless, the criminal, the ultra-rich, atheists, socialist/communists, mafia, and the unpatriotic. I want nothing to do with them and I hope they either gain redemption or drop dead.

By the time the Autumn of 1,000 cuts is over BHO will be bleeding votes from all over. I only see him getting votes on the left coast and the New England states. Other than that he’s doomed. The more we know about McC the more we like him. The more we know about BHO the less so. Barry is a little boy in a man’s world.

Yes, but now the media has the usual case of amnesia and will brush all that aside as the MSM props up “St. Joseph of Delaware” to be the main apostle of the Obamessiah. The remaining11 apostles to be names later
