There was a military response to 9/11, in Afghanistan, which every sane minded person in the US supported.

Putin is allowing his greed to cause him to over play his hand. He thinks he can get away with bullying the old satellites back into the foal because the U.S. is preoccupied; he is about to learn differently.

Funny, I do not recall either of these rationales being brought up by Bush in the lead up to the war.

C’mon, Chap, do you really think the “public” would have tolerated a non-military response to 9/11, given the state of raw nerves and emotional over-load we were experiencing in the months following the attacks? This country wanted revenge against a political enemy and Iraq fit the bill. We did the right thing there, for the Iraqis and ourselves.

And a lot of good our supposed gain in street cred as the lone super power did in Georgia. Seems Russia has its own ideas.

But the comment that really drew my attention was this one she made about why she likes natural gas:

“I believe in natural gas as a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels,” she said at one point. Natural gas “is cheap, abundant and clean compared to fossil fuels,” she said at another.

And all this time I thought natural gas WAS a fossil fuel. Is Nancy going senile or has she always had her bulb on dim?

I know it will take some time, lgm, but if you just keep on repeating that phrase over and over, eventually you will come to believe it. Whatever you do, don’t let facts get in the way of supporting those things you want to believe in.

More fun for an Obama-Biden ticket, if it comes to pass…

Obama, when the whole Don Imus controversy flared up:

“I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus,” Obama told ABC News, “but I would also say that there’s nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude.”

Obama said he appeared once on Imus’ show two years ago, and “I have no intention of returning.”

Biden, of course, is one of Imus’ most frequent guests (as is McCain). He offered a disapproving statement at that time, of course, but it will be a fun question for that first press availability: Was Obama right to call for your friend Don Imus to be fired?
